Questions

Did I read somewhere that you can drag and drop artboards to another file (Ai v29.2.1)? Or did I imagine that? If so, can someone point me to some instructions please? If I was hallucinating and there's a feature request out there, I'll upvote it for sure!  Thanks!

Sometime over the years, I recall receiving a file whereby any object that was placed onto a certain layer had certain properties applied to it. At the time, it was maddening, because I didn't have a need for that function.   I now need that particular function and I cannot figure out how ti implement that behavior. Can someone tell mw how to do this?

Hi guys,this issue has driven me crazy. when i open adobe illustrator recently, it always pops up a window which says " we can not verify your subsription status". however, i just got new license, it still is not working. Do you guys have any idea what is going on?

Hallo zusammen,seit dem letzten Update zeig mir Illustrator die Pfadansicht in der GPU Ansicht sehr merkwürdig an. Ich muss jedes Mal auf die CPU Ansicht umschalten, was den Workflow unheimlich aufhält. Das ist bei jeder Datei Habt ihr auch das Problem und / oder kann mir jemand dabei unterstützen?

Hi folks,So, every time I move my handlebar, the other end of the handlebar disappears and cannot be edited. My professor said he had never seen anything like this and it is also very confusing to him. I will attach screenshots so you know what exactly it looks like. ( The process is, firstly I drag out the handles on the anchor point, then I drag the one on the right for editing, after I release my mouse, you see how the left one just disappears?)Is there anything in the setting that I need to change?   

I have 10 artboards with 10 different transparent images I want to export as separate PNG files (and SVG if possible).I know to get rid of deadspace on one artboard you go to Export> Save for Web> Uncheck 'clip to artboard'> SaveI know to save multiple artboards as separate files you go to Export> Save for Screens> Check the artboards you want> Export artboard.But is there a way to combine these so I don't have to manually crop the deadspace in each file I mass export?

I'm working on illustrator, everything was ok until i save as PDF. In review i can still see all the details and picture attachments. But when i open both the AI files and PDF some of the details disappear even though you can still see it in review section. I've tried to restart the computer and still have the same problem.This is how it looks on AIand this is how it looks on review section with all the details still visible. 

Hello all, This is probably a super obvious answer, since I'm basically trial-and-error trained, but I learned through various tutorials that an easy way to create a color swatch was to drag an object of the desired color into the swatches panel and drop it there to create a swatch.  Fast forward to (how did it go that long without my noticing?!) weeks later and I realize that all the swatches I have for a project are pattern swatches, therefore, difficult and inefficient to edit or tweak the actual hue/saturation/etc, and just generally wrong, which annoys me. When I realized this, I also realized that every time I tried to create a new swatch through the panel, it would come up as "new pattern swatch." I started to go through the eyedropper tool and the swatch panel made normal color swatches, so the issue is no longer urgent, but I would like to know for future reference - does drag and drop only create pattern swatches, is there something wrong with my document

I recently purchased Illustrator, but it failed to update over and over again even though I have over 3GB of free space on the ICloudDrive. Why is thios happening?

Hallo zusammen,bin vor kurzem auf einen «neuen» Mac mit OS Sonoma umgestiegen und habe im gleichen Moment von einer älteren Illustrator-Version (2022 oder so?) auf die aktuelle 29.X upgedatet.Nun habe ich plötzlich das schriftunabhängige Problem, dass in lllustrator kopierter Text (mit Textcursor markiert + Befehl «C») erwartungsgemäss als editierbarer Text nach InDesign übernehmen lässt, aber in ALLEN anderen meiner oft gebrauchten Apps wie z.B. TextEdit, Thunderbird, OpenOffice etc. immer als pixelige Grafik eingefügt wird. Hab’ schon die Illu-Voreinstellungen bzgl. Zwischenablage (SVG, PDF etc.) verändert und durchprobiert, aber ohne Erfolg. Interessanterweise findet man viele ähnliche Forenbeiträge aus früheren Jahren - aber das, was damals offenbar vielen geholfen hat (Zwischenablage -> SVG deaktivieren), hat hier leider keinen Effekt. Was ich eben noch herausgefunden habe: Speziell in Thunderbird habe ich tatsächlich die Möglichkeit, beim Einfügen «Einfügen ohne Formatierung»

Hola. Quiero contraer el contorno de una figura, haciéndolo 2 mm más pequeño perimetralmente. Lo hago desde Objeto / Trazado / Desplazamiento y pongo -0,2 mm pero genera un contorno exterior y uno interior y sólo necesito el contorno interior. ¿Cómo puedo hacerlo?Gracias

I have a drawing done in AutoCAD  web that I am saving to a local file and opening in Illustrator. The drawing, a DWG file, mostly looks fine in Illustrator, but a few of my hatches do not. One of them, is a square with a hole in it. When viewing it in CAD, the hatch fills out the square minus the circle in the middle, When I open the file in Illustrator, the square is 100% filled in. The other example is, I have a large circle with 2 smaller circles inside so it looks like a ring around a small circle. I did a hatch to create the outer ring and the same hatch in the small circle in the middle. Neither hatch shows up when I open in Illustrator. I have dozens of other hatches in the drawing that come out fine. Any idea how I can fix this? I tried to attach the DWG file that I;m working with, it it isn't supported in this forum site

I was working on a project, I closed the file normally and when I tried to open it some time later, I got the message: Document contains incompatible objects. I tried to use previous versions as suggested by the same error and I can't open it, I need this file to work. Does anyone know how to fix this? 

Dealing with banding issues, normally solved in Ps using dither. But my file is AI, and the Texture > Grain ain't cutting it.Anyone achieved a dither effect in Illustrator to obliterate banding. And how? Thx.

Sometimes, when I open panels in Illustrator, they close immediately. Does anyone know how to fix this? Restarting the computer occasionally works, but it's not a reliable solution and quite frustrating. Any suggestions?

I made an object, but when I resize it, it messes up the geometry.  Note that I don't want to make a finalizing change to the object to fix this issue; I may want to edit it in the future.  Thanks!

Hi,I have this working script with me which works well in InDesign. Hello everyone 🙂 I've had the file window on Illustrator “floating” for a few months now.... I went through the preferences several times but there was no way to reinsert it integrated to menu. Any advice?  

Using the Direct Selection Tool I would like to target a single anchor point on multiple pathItems and return their index so I can push their respective X and Y coordinates to an array.
