I am attempting to export a very simple 1-color icon/mark as an .svg file. When I export as .svg, I get black filled in shapes instead of the proper strokes/outlines in the design. I'm uploading an image of the design in Illustrator as well as what it looks like when I export. I have already converted all text to outlines and have attempted to use object>expand on the shapes before export, and that has not solved my problem. No matter how I export to .svg, the shapes are messed up. 

Hi All, I'm trying to print an .ai file to a PDF and I used to be able to print drawings larger than an 8.5"x11" as several sheets that I'd tape together. All of a sudden, all of those options are disabled when I click print. How do I enable the settings below "Print Layers"?

Hello, I'm using the latest version of illustrator, and I can't find how to add a background color to a text box (not the text itself, but it's background). In previous versions there was a menubar at the top with all the possibilities and here i can't see anything like it.I would appreciate your help.  Thank you

How can I select objects which are completely inside the marquee or a lasso? Currently by default illustrator selects all the objects whether they're just touching the selection marquee or are completely inside it, I have to deselect objects that just touch the selection marquee while selection objects which are completely inside my selection box.In AutoCAD, and SketchUp, drawing from right to left while selecting objects selects everything that touches or encloses our marquee, while drawing the selection box left to right, it only selects objects which are totally inside the selection rectangle.Please guide. I am using Illustrator CC 2019 on WIndows 10 

 

No se puede guardar el archivo ya que no se ha podido incrustar la fuente "XXXXX" debido a restricciones de licencia.  Bien, como podéis leer no me deja guardar los archivos... La tipografía tiene licencia, hemos pagado por ella y no hay forma humana de facilitar ni la licencia ni nada que se le parezca. ¿Soluciones? Gracias

Hi all. I'm hoping someone here can solve an issue I've been having for the last year or so. I'm building final hi-res production files for a large food truck currently, but this same issue has been bothering me for many other jobs lately. Let's just say it's a 20ft x 10ft wall and the final print res will be 150dpi. I can create my images in PS no problem and I can save them as either TIF or PSB or even JPEG (file size is not a problem) but when I try to place them into the Illustrator template/dieline all I see is what looks like an empty container. There's a bounding box and I can click and drag it around, but there's no image, not even in the links panel. I read in another forum somewhere from over a year ago that this was a known issue and they suggested embedding the image. That does indeed make it show up properly, but not an ideal solution. I've attached a few screenshots to show the problem. The first is what I'm seeing after placing the image. i am trying to convert a line of text into outlines/path for my vinyl cutter.   HOWEVER, i am using warp effects on the text first.  i can create the text and add teh effect "WARP FAG "but when i select type/create outlines, it only creates the outlines for the hidden origional straightline text.  i am not sure what to do to make it create the paths on the "effect" text path.

Hello everyone, I have a problem in Illustrator when I open any panel. Let's say I open the fonts panel to pick a font. The panel closes by itself 2 seconds after I open the panel, and that goes for every other panel in Illustrator. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this issue?  Thank you.

I am using the program with both English and Turkish language support.My problem is as follows: When I need to add something to a text field in an illustrator document I am working on, it uses a different font beyond my control.I thought I made a mistake in the extensions but I couldn't find it.Please help. :)))

Hi all, Since the latest update of Illustrator(v28.4) and Acrobat (unsure where to confirm version, but it now has AI integrated), I am having an issue with colours from my artboard being fairly more vibrant, almost as if they are RGB values, despite using CMYK swatches and using CMYK workspace.  This issue doesn't occur when Printing as PDF however, or when actually being printed and the CMYK result is accurate. I have noticed it appear particularly more obvious when the print is blue, but does seem to affect all colours. Has anyone else incured this before? I have attached a screenshot with an example of my Artboard next to my result with Save as PDF

I have an AI file that won't save. (Windows 10, Adobe Illustrator 2018 CC) Every time I try to save as an AI file I get an error message saying "Acrobat PDF files is having difficulties. File does not begin with %PDF." It does not include the piece about file being named wrong or other options I've read about, just that it's having difficulties. I've looked through other forums and have tried all of their advice, none of which has worked. I refreshed preferences. I've changed fonts, tried to save as EPS (crashes), changed the file name. I unchecked the box that creates a PDF when saving as .ai. I saved the file in parts with a new name, some of them are opened, and some are not. I wrote in support and they answered me "There are multiple factor both internal and external to application  that can lead to document corruption . The file can get corrupt due to multiple reasons associated with the file itself like the links used in the file , the styles , fonts or any other." ​​​​​​​An

when using the eyedroper while selecting a group of x amount of the same color objects, nothing happens... but if i ungroup the group; objects in the group respond, subgroups don't respond.I havent noticed this before this month,  is there a preference box to check to continue to eyedrop groups like i have for the last twenty years?28.4.1 in mac os 12.7.3 on an old mac trash can.  Should i go back to a previous ver of Ai until I replace the computer? is this a sign of a dying machine? or is this a problem across the board?(-unemployed for 11 months and counting, pls avoid the upgrade your machine answer)

I like the result of an image traced photograph to a low fidelity photograph - I would like to make only the outline of the image smoother but retain all interior details of the image - as in have one perimeter path I can alter slightly by using smooth path option. I thought I could just unite all paths leaving one path so I can modify but this just makes it a filled shape.

Hello! I have installed Adobe Illustrator Beta and have been trying to create mockups. I put in my image, then a vectorized logo I created ontop. I select both images and go to object, mockup, make, but this is the screen that pops up. It is stuck on this screen everytime and was looking for a solution thank you!    I have attatched a screenshot.

Hi,I am having an issue with Adobe Illustrator after the latest update. Normally, I work with text in two languages (Thai and English), using different fonts for each language. Before the update, I could use the Eyedropper tool to match the font style as I had set it. However, after the update, when I use the Eyedropper tool to pick up the font settings (for example, English font is Times New Roman and Thai font is Angsana New), the Thai font turns into squares instead. When I type in another language using a font that doesn't support that language, it also shows up as squares. Before the update, it would randomly select a font that supported that language, but now everything appears as squares. This is making my work much harder. Is there a solution for this?

So I'm currently watching and following along with the Envato Tuts+ Adobe Illustrator for Beginners Course and I'm stuck on the custom logo section. I am following the video EXACTLY and get to the point where I select the shape builder tool to delete unnecessary lines, however when I do that the lines don't join up properly. I've started from the beginning multiple times but the lines always look the same and I don't understand what I am doing wrong. I have made sure that the paths intersect at the correct points and experimented with different capping options to no avail. The first screenshot is how it looks on my computer and the second is the tutorial. I would be very grateful if anyone had any suggestions as to why mine doesn't look right. Thanks.

I am interested in learning the basics of using Adobe Illustrator for creating vector graphics. I learn much better from a book than from YouTube tutorials - with a book I can work at my own pace but with a YouTube tutorial it all goes wrong if the speaker goes at a different speed than my brain. I need to get the hang of bezier curves - basic pen tool use.Does anyone have recommendations for a good book that might help me? Is the Adobe Classroom in a Book any good? Any other recommendations?Thank you

I have two issues regarding the title: 1-) I saved an Illustrator file in the cloud, same that I want to link in InDesign, and when I try to place it in InDesign, it does not appear in the stored place. I can confirm that it is stored in the cloud, because the cloud symbol is next to the title, and I have already checked the path several times, but it does not appear when I want to make the mentioned link, what can this be due to? 2-) Another indication that it is saved in the cloud, is that, as shown in the screen shot, the Version History panel is available, and, as I understand, this function is only activated when the file is saved in the cloud, is this correct, or is there a way to activate it when it is stored locally? I deduced this because, I wanted to use this feature on a local file, but it was not available, and as soon as I saved it to the cloud, it was immediately activated without doing anything for it. 

Ever since I updated my computer, Photoshop and Illustrator display colour differently.  When I create a pattern in Illustrator and open it in Photoshop, the colour appears saturated.  The same happens when I export the file.  What am I doing wrong?I do the bulk of my work in Illustrator, and need to be able to see correct colours. Thanks,Anna

When I make my design and print directly from Illustrator there is no problem, but when I save it as a PDF the design on the PC is correct but when I print it there is an area that does not print well.
