Hello - Yes, is “Separations Preview” buggy? It sure looks like it to me (and it doesn't matter if you're working with the latest version of Illustrator or not, I've gone all the way back to version 2023). Context:I have a dynamic symbol, in which I have the yellow part in “yellow (CYMK).One of the advantages of a dynamic symbol is that you can change its appearance without changing the symbol itself. In this case, I'm changing its color to a Pantone color (outside the symbol, ie. once it's been placed on an artboard). It works. However, when I check the color separations, it doesn't show the Pantone (applied outside the symbol), but the basic CMYK yellow included in the symbol.Strangely enough, when I draw a shape (eg. a rectangle) on the artboard, Pantone is shown in the separations! Strange, isn't it?Is it a visualization bug or am I missing something here?Thx, enjoy your day. Cfr. the uploaded screenshots. - Dimitri
Hi everyone!I am dealing with an issue that is starting to drive me crazy. I am working on creating an email signature (400px x 200px) for a client and it includes a logo that is made up of text. No matter how I create the image itself, it always comes out blurry when I save it for the web even if I use the Save for Web (Legacy) tool. The image needs to be saved as a PNG file for the client, so that is what I've been using. I use the preview button on that tool constantly to see what it would look like on the web, and it still shows up blurry: This is what the email signature looks like at 1200px x 600px at 300dpi as a plain vector image in Illustrator: Nice and clear and crisp. Now, here is my issue. When I take the size of the artboard down to the desired size of 400px x 200px, it becomes intensely blurry: I have tried truly everything:-Created a 400px x 200px artboard in Illustrator in RGB format at 72ppi-->comes out with the same, very blurry results.-Cr
Seems as if this has changed in the newer version. How do you add a stroke to an already created mask? In this case, I've used text and images for the mask. I'm using Windows 10 64. Thanks
I have an Illustrator document with placed 3 color images (CMY) that is showing black info when I view it using separations preview. The placed photoshop file is a CMYK file and does not have anything in the black channel. Im using Illustrator version 29.2.1. Kinda making me crazy.
I keep getting this message when trying to export an SVG. I even made a single square shape and tried to export. Nada. I have no idea what to do. I've tried all kinds of tips online, but I can't find anything like this. NO explanation. Just can't do it.
For technical CAD drawings, the stroke of an object is dotted when it is placed behind or inside a mass. Is there a feature or plugin that will adaptively change the appearance of lines from solid to dotted depending on it's arrangement (forward/backwards). Manually changing the appearance to a dotted line is very tedius when the drawing is complicated and the subject is only partially hidden. Example: imagine changing the position of 2 circles of a ven diagram and repeatedly cutting and joining the lines accordingly. I am looking for a solution that will allow the red circle to remain joined as 1 connected path.
i can't change 3d color materials in illustrator, I've done the update of May 2022. Can anyone solve this problem?
Hoping someone has run into this before and figured out a workaround — I'm almost ready to install an older version of Illustrator just to avoid these thorns in my workflow. I've noticed (after totally destroying a couple of designs) that Illustrator 2020's SVG saving behavior does not respect prior settings upon first launch. Specifically, the SVG "Decimal Places" setting. In prior versions, as far back as I can recall, once the precision was set to, for example, 5 decimal places, that value was used by default, and it only required fixing if you had to save with a different value for one particular file. The new behavior in Illustrator 2020 seems to be that it resets to a value of 1 each time the app is launched. If I open an existing SVG file that I created in Illustrator, I cannot just use the normal Save function, otherwise every element's decimal precision drops down to 1.Once I change it, the new value remains for subsequent saves, as long as I don't quit Illustrator.
I have never had to ungroup objects to get the eye dropper tool to apply selected attributes to an object. This no longer works without ungrouping objects.I have never had to ungroup objects to change the color of an object selecting a color from swatches. This no longer works without ungrouping objects. These issues have started this past week and it's driving me crazy. I have not changed anything to my knowledge. Ideas?
Hi, I have the latest version of Adobe Illustrator (28.4.1) but the Text to Vector feature does not show up for me. Is there any way to activate it/find it?
I did the grid:Grid SystemsI weant to remove the dot over the i (grid).
Hi- I've used illustrator for years and never had this problemWhen I offset the paths of a rectangle at -.007 inches, the resulting smaller "rectangle" does not have 90 degree corners, and the lines are not parallel with the original rectangle. The "align art to pixel grid" is turned off, near as I can tell. The original rectangle measures 7.5 by 3.5 in the transform window. The offset "rectangle" "measures" 7.5 by 3.493... the math on that isn't right any way one looks at it.I'm using illustrator to create CNC cut paths, and this is really putting a wrench in the works. Can anyone tell what is going on here? Hi. I'm making seamless patterns that I print on fabrics. When I export file as jpeg from Illustrator, and then open the jpeg in Photoshop, a pixel wide border appears around the image, or it is rather that the outermost pixel around the image is faded. Then my pattern isn't seamless anymore. I need to have a jpeg file to send to the fabrics printing company. How can I get rid of the light border around the image? It doesn't matter whether I choose anti-aliasing or not, the border is still there.
When using eyedropper tool to select a fill color from another vector object on the page, if I have grouped objects or text selected, it will not apply the selected fill. It will apply the stroke (if there is any) and it will show in the color panel that I have applied the color, but it does not change the fill. Now if I ungroup the objects, then use the eyedropper, it will apply the fill. With text, if I outline the text, ungroup the letters, use THEN use the eyedropper, it will apply the fill.Objects will show the correct fill when using sliders and swatches UNLESS I use the eyedropper on them. Once I use the eyedropper, that text or grouped object's fill color is locked (at least on screen). This just started happeneing with the latest update. Running Illustrator 24.1.2 on Windows 10 Pro.UPDATE: Latest update:24.1.2 - Text has been fixed but eyedropper still not applying color to selected groups objects.
I am a huge fan of the VariableImporter script. I was wondering whether I can trigger this script from ExtendScript. I'd be happy with running the default script, transposing the data and specifying the path to the CSV. I think I then need to be able to hit return twice for the script to run. Background: My workflow now is:- generate an Illy file with ExtendScript- run VariableImporter script manually to load a CSV- run some post-processing on the Illy file I guess I could write some ExtendScript code to load a CSV myself but I'm really happy with how VariableImporter works.Any help appreciated.
I am currently working on a project and my automated guide lines for object placement and spacing have disapeared. I am referring to the arrows (green) and lines (pink) for centering objects, text or images and for equally spacing them without using the alignment tool. Would someone happen to know how to reactivate this tool or setting as I have tried everything I can think and search for thus far.
I have a document with many elements, I am trying to copy some objects and paste into new layers to create slightly different designs for presentation. I copy the objects, create and name a new layer then 'paste in place' and have tried 'paste' and the item pastes back into the original layer. I have selected the new layer, I have locked the source layer and tried pasting, I have hidden the source layer and it still won't paste into the new layer, this has only recently started happening. I have been using Illustrator for over 20 years and am not a novice. I have tried everything I can think of but cannot create multiple layered artwork / designs. I can create new graphics in the new layers but just can't paste to them.Has anyone experienced this before? I am using CS6 16.0.4 installed from disks on a late 2013 27" iMac intel core i5 OS X Yosemite 10.10.3.Many thanks in advanceDavid
I am trying to save a file that has two artboards as a pdf. I click save as, use artboards, 1-2 artboards. When I go to open the pdf it shows 2 artboards but one of them is blank. If I go to open the pdf in Illustrator everything is there, but I need to show this file to my coworkers who don't have Illustrator. All of my layers are visible, the artboards are in the right place, I have updated my programs and I have also reinstalled them. I don't know what to do to solve this problem anymore and I couldn't find this issue in the forums.

Hello all, I am having trouble converting objects into shapes. I've tried everything I've seen online, Expand, Expand Shape, getting rid of any overlapping lines and nothing seems to work. There are no locked layers and I've even tried selecting everything at once and every object by itself. Any ideas or suggestions are much appreciated
I use to click on an object and drag to move it. While recently, after I single click on an object with out draging it, the object will automatically move with my cursor. Even I don't want the object to be moved. Another senario is that I clicked on an object and then I click on the canvas randomly, the object may automaticlly move to the point I clicked. How to solve this problem?
Antiguamente podía seleccionar un grupo de elementos y colorearlos mediante el uso del cuentagotas y a partir de esta versión no me lo permite ya que debo desagrupar y colorear uno a uno, ayuda!
I am trying to crop a simple rectangle using the Illustrator crop tool and I cannot crop it to the size I want without getting a white border appearing on at least one edge. If I try to crop out the white border it just appears again. I think the issue was already brought up elsewhere, but has not been properly addressed or resolved. See here:https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/last-update-broke-crop-image/m-p/11412389?page=1#M243315and here:https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/appearing-white-line-when-using-crop-image/m-p/9016209?page=1#M49480 I am using Illustrator 2020 24.2.3 but this seems to have been an issue in previous versions as well. What is going on?
