In Illustrator, I used to be able to quickly edit a shape after I drew it, because it remained editable (anchor points stayed active). Now, the shape is de-selected once I finish drawing it, so I have to go back and select the shape again to activate editable anchor points. Is there a way I can make the shape stay selected so I can edit it?

Does anyone know how to revert the keyboard shortcuts as some have changed. I've 25+ years of muscle memory built up that I'm not ready to let go of. Space + CMD (Mac) for Zoom in/ Space + CMD + Option for Zoom out please!

We constantly work with many linked files in one Ai file and it leads to performance issues.Would it be possible to have a setting for preview quality like InDesign?p.s.: I just tested the Beta and it automatically switched to CPU preview only on the document where performance was laggy

Before, if I was making black (#000000 or #000) icons in Adobe Illustrator then I was always able to instantly change its color inside Elementor Website Builder. Now I always have to open my svg file with notepad and remove "fill:#000" from each icon Im trying to make. This is always inside that kind of area: .d{fill:#000;stroke-width:0px;}. What may have caused it? If I check my old files then I can see that before my files didn't have fill:#000 but now they do. (Yes, my old files (icons) were also simple and their color was always #000000)

Since Illustrator got the ability to align strokes to inside or outside, it used to only work with closed paths. To align strokes on open paths (similar to InDesign) one had to use workarounds like using width profiles or brushes.   Has anyone else noticed that in Illustrator version 28.6 it is actually possible to use the Align palette to align open stroked paths to inside or outside (as defined by left or right according to the path direction)?   In version 27.9.5 and below it does not work and in version 28.7 the ability apparently has disappeared again.   Can you confirm the behaviour in version 28.6? If so, that would be quite interesting as it used to be a frequent feature request in the past.

Hello, I put a bold font on a circle path but the bottom of the font isn't touching on all anchor point... The edges remain straight instead of curving to the path. How do I fix that issue?

Hallo zusammen, folgendes Problem gestaltet sich aktuell: wenn ich Illustrator öffne, funktioniert alles wie gewohnt. Die Datei die ich aufrufe läd, dann kann ich aber nichts mehr machen. Selbst die Werkzeugleiste und ebenen usw. erscheinen nicht. Wenn ich ob über das Bedienfeld Fenster die Werkzeuge als beispiel auswähle, passiert einfach nichts. Es kam kein  Fehlermeldung . Illustrator ist auf dem neusten Stand. Mein Mac Betriebssystem auch. Ich habe das Programm auch schon einmal neu installiert.    Wenn ich die BETA Version öffne kommt folgende Fehlermeldung: Kann mir jemand weiterhelfen ?  

Hello,is it possible to let Illustrator shrink artboard automatically according the dimensions of the actual drawing on it to leave no empty borders around the picture? I need it very often and doing that manually is time consuming when making lots of pictures. Thanks!

Does anybody know why my fonts are not in the same family?The italic versions of this font (Poppins) are all together in one group and you can easily change the weight in just few clicks. Using Regular, Bold, Semibold etc. however, needs to be typed manually to find the font weight.I'm using Adobe Illustrator latest version on Windows 11.

I have the latest version of illustrator. As seen from this attachment, when I select a shape there is an option in the control bar to change the width and height of the shape.I am now teaching Illustrator to a few students and they do not have this option of changing the width and height of an object in their control bar.How do they add this feature to Illustrator?

I'm not sure if it's related to freeform gradient.... I'm not a power Illustrator user like I once was. But, I received a file from a designer and it has multiple gradients. When I paste it into another file, it becomes 'non-native art'. I'm using Illustrator 2024 and used 'save as' "Illustrator 2020". This still allowed me to edit the gradient points and I can see other controls (ramp direction, etc.). To test, I've then created a new file, and 'save as' "Illustrator 2020" , but when I paste the gradient (or the artboard) it becomes a 'non-native art' again. I can't edit anything in it. Is there a way to paste or migrate the original gradient while maintaining the gradient control points? Not sure if I'm using the right terminology.

Hi guys, I have been having an issue when packaging an illustrator file to send to my colleagues or a client. Every time I package an .ai file to upload to the drive the colours of my art work are completely different, only when viewing the file in the drive... However when myself or someone else downloads the .ai file and opens it with illustrator, all the colours are as they should be. I would ideally like to be able to view the preview in the drive with the correct colours.I have tried saving the file in both CMYK and RGB colour modes prior to packaging, both with the same outcome. Any suggestions?? I have attached below images as an example, the yellow and red artwork is the correct colour. The purple is what im being shown when previewing the .ai file on google drive.

Whenever I try to find a font for the text, I get overwhelmed by all the fonts/wingding typefaces that take up much of my font list. I find it harder to find the fonts I want since they are dispersed throughout the font list and easily missed while scrolling. Is there a way in the settings to turn off or hide these fonts? I'll include pictures of the fonts I'm referring to.

I've looked everywhere and maybe I've missed it but am I allowed to use any images that I purchase the Extended License for if I want to sell them on Etsy or list them as a Free Printable on my blog? Do I need to tweak them at all or can I just create .pdf downloads for customers/followers? Thanks!

Type changes between wireframe and preview mode are really bothering me. 

Hi everyone. I am using illustrator for about an year now. Recently found out that my eyedropper is picking colors in strange manner. Here are 4 different examples.1. The original color sample is picked with the eyedropper tool from the image viewer window but resulted in different color #40a2ea2. Here I used snip tool in windows 7 to capture the quick snapshot from image viewer and pasted the copied from clipboard. Illustrator pasted the image with the same color as picked in previous case.3. In this case I directly dragged the original color sample file into the illustrator as a Linked file. then picked the color from it. Result was #41a6eb4. I embedded the linked image now and used eyedropper again. Now it gives me the original color.[I am using Illustrator cc 2015 3.1 with Document color->RGB and proof colors unchecked]Please help why wrong colors are picked when simply using eyedropper tool to sample from an outside window.

Hi all, can anyone help me please!? I would like to know if there is a way to change an objects dimensions/shape withouth distorting it once it has been rotated? Before rotation is seems so easy, select the object/s with the V seletion tool and then drag one of the corners to the desired shape/size - everything stays together and changes size proportionally.  But that same object/group of objects or lines, once rotated seems impossible to easily change size/dimensions withouth distorting. any ideas?

I inflated the green text and turned on ray tracing to high, rendered, expanded appearance to remove the wiry lines and my object looks blurred in some spaces. How can I resolve this?

En Illustrator se que llegué a generar alguna imagen , pero desde hace unos meses no me aparece la opción de generar imagenes con Ai. En photoshop me funciona bien. Se que en photoshop se puede activar y desactivar el menú en el menú de ventana, pero en ilustrator no me aparece. He desinstalado e instalado y tengo la ultima versión. HiPreviously, images were embedded by default, but recently I have had an issue where images are not being embedded in files.  I have several files that are ongoing and I add to /alter frequently. Is there an option to always embed by default in new files?  Also, is there a way to go back to existing files and set it to embed automatically? I have Illustrator 2020 on Windows 10.
