I design badges and in an effort to speed things up I import data using variable libraries. In the past this hasnt been a problem, However I seem to get en error after importing my CSV data. I have no idea how to fix this. Please help 🙂

Estoy teniendo problemas al querer importar archivos de extensión .dxf en Adobe Illustrator ya que no me aparece el cuadro de diálogo de escala sino que directamente lo toma como si fuera un archivo de texto. Los archivos que trato de importar son del programa audaces.Alguien que pueda ayudarme? I  made changes to an existing AI file, but saved it to as a PDF without first saving as AI. Can I proceed to work with that PDF, and then save it as an AI file without losing quality?

Hi I am wanting to export a pattern I made in AI for print. Using Mac 14.6.1 AI 28.6 I am following the sequence taught by Bonnie Christine.  Nobody in that community can see why AI is responding the way it is to paste in front.I pull a swatch out of the swatch panel and select my pattern border with the direct selection tool, then command C to copy (for some reason a pop up message says Shape Expanded), then command F to paste in front - but the rectangle selection snaps to one edge only and then it will not respond to making an artboard with command 9 (customised shortcut  to artboard) (see below message about a clipping mask - there is no clipping mask). Command B has the same result. Using the pull down menu for the commands has the same result. Now the Scale tool only scales from one edge (therefore distorts). I can try it just by doing the same sequence with a plane rectangle and get it to work. Other patterns have the same issue. If I buy a subscription on my iPad can I use it on my laptop?

Every other app on my Mac allows me to navigate to and use my Mac OS Colours palette — even Microsoft apps! Why won't Illustrator allow me to use these colours (which I already use in Keynote; Powerpoint; Pages; Word; etc.)? Why doesn't Abobe respect the Mac OS Colours interface element?Illustrator is heroically unintuitive and overcomplicated enough. Please, Adobe, don't make me have to recreate all my colours just because you refuse to update your 1996-UX software!

How can I get an entire layer to be on multiply?

I was looking for a script that would replace selected items with symbols, but only found an old reference to a script that's no longer available. Does anyone know of a current way or script to do this? TIA

Why is my grid which I created with the rectagular grid tool filled if it's on none? 

For some reason, when I switch applications using the Control+Tab shortcut, it displays the grid in Illustrator, which is quite bothersome. I'm not sure what's causing this. Could it be a conflict with Logitech keyboard software? Any help to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!Ricardo

In llustrator 28.1 installed the  plug-in Esko Data Exchange 23.11 (AI2022, AI2023 & AI2024) so i could use the ArtiosCAD Line Types needed to our workflow.Only the "Crease" is acting different from all the prevoius versions.It appears in BookColor instead of SpotColor and with altered LAB values, which means that it is not recognized throughout the rest of the workflow. Only this color presents this inconsistency, all others continue with the behavior of previous versions and the same values. I tried to install an older version of the Swatch Library and create one with the colors I want, but as soon as I open the application, Crease changes it to BookColor. If I go directly to the swatch and click twice on the swatch and change it to SpotColor with the RGB (R255G0B0) value from previous versions, it works correctly in the rest of the workflow but it requires me to do this operation in all the files I make and if it ever fails it could have  serious production c

Hi everyone, I am pretty new to Illustrator but my issue is not experience-related (at least it does not seem on a first approach). I am using Matplotlib to plot some figures. Specifically, I perform a boxplot with seaborn and I use matplotlib features to color the box and hatch it. I then save it in svg. It looks like this (and it also looks like this in Inkscape):Then I move to Illustrator and insert it using the File-> Place command. I obtain this:As you can see, the hatching and the color of the previously hatched boxes has disappeared.Any idea of where the problem comes from and how I can solve it?Thanks!

I appear to be unable to ‘Save as’ –> On creative cloud -> PDFIt will only save to CC as aic (I get no option to save as PDF)(Export -> Export alsos gives me no option to export as PDF)I thought this used to be possible, is this no longer the case?  

I'm buying a lenovo ideapad p400 touch later today because i dislocated my knee yesterday leaving me immobile and unable to use my pc and with research it has an i7, 1tb storage (local disk C i think that's HD), and it has integrated graphics (intel HD graphics 4000) so everything so far seems like it would be supported but i only have $150 MAX to spend on a laptop for illustrator for the meantime

Hi everyone, I saved a vector illustration created on Illustrator in PDF, in the Options I unchecked "Keep Illustrator editing capabilities" and saved. The problem is that when I reopen it in Illustrator it has kept all the vector segments and can be edited, is this normal? I want a PDF file NOT editable in Illustrator, do you know how to do it?

Hello everyone, I am creating a 76-page catalog on Illustrator because the printer is sending templates from Illustrator.So I laid out the entire catalog, with .tiff photos. When exporting to PDF I deactivate subsampling, I request higher quality and an export in Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4). The export starts and when it reaches the end the following message is displayed "Problem with the PDF file format. This file is too big for the current operation".  I don't know what to do anymore to export my file to the printer. Can you help me? Thanks.

Hi, I have complex file and need it as .svg for future using on web page. It's actually a map where I need some shapes to have specific <tag>, one must be <path> other <polygon> or any other, but not <path>. For now some of "green shapes" are still polygons other paths, so is there any way to convert them to other style or vice versa? Didn't find any information or tool for this. Is there a way to do this? If not, why Adobe still didn't do that?

I just have to move the color from fill to stroke and despite of it is the same color than happens this As you can see the stroke is lighter than the fill and I don't understand why. I checked the opacity panel and no opacity value changed, all the values are the same as for the fill. How can I fix that ?I'm working on Win 7 , CC 2017

Hi,I've been searching high and low for a way to do this in illustrator for a while now. What I have is a vector graphic with many small pieces of jigsaw which form a perfect rectangle on 1 layer and an image on another layer (below). What I would like to do is - using whatever method, have each jigsaw piece on a separate layer with the corresponding part of the image inside the jigsaw puzzle piece so that I can move them about. I've been trying different selections of the pathfinder tool without success. What I am trying to avoid is the long a tedious method of releasing to layers (sequence) each jigsaw piece which is currently a path and then 1 by 1 cutting them out of the image individually which will take a very long time.Any help will be greatly appreciated.Thanks! When starting to act text with TEXT tool, illustrator creates AREA TEXT.This is because, according to me, there is too little offset tolerance so any non-perpendicular movement while clicking and we get AREA TEXT.How to get rid of this?

Hello, I'm looking for a comprehensive tutorial for saving PDFs to send to printers/various prublications. From checking your file, outlining fonts, are embedded photos necessary - if so how to save, etc. as well as recommended PDF version (X-1a). 

I have tried for the last 2 hours to try and get the holes in a custom letter B to be "knocked out" all the way through the red body of the B so that the background (artboard) of the project shows through the B. EVERY time I do it, it only shows me the red color of the body of the B so every time I export it to use on shirts I have the change the color of the holes of the B to match EXACTLY. Please help me. I feel like this used to be FAR easier in previous versions but maybe I'm just getting old. ThanksBen

Hi,I'm getting annoyed by the sensitivity of the anchor points of a small object (f.i. a rectangle) and I just want to change the form (width or height) and the action changes into rotation very quick.  I really have to aim very carefully to get the right action. Is there anything I can do about that (settins?). Thanks for the help!Marco

Hello, when I launch AI 2024 2.82 (or earlier an CC build) either by clicking on the app icon or from a AI file, the application loads, but does not respond to any action or menu. Takes significant time to loadLoads with ith a blank homepage or the AI file I opened, but no in-application widows, not does it respond to any key commands.All menu items pull down, but do not activate when selected.Quits as per normal from menu (not cmnd Q). I have unistalled all versions and reinstalled. I have rebooted the Mac (OS Monterey 12.7.3) in recovery mode and run disk utility and then reinstalled AI.  Same issues. Anyone have this same issue? Is there a work around? Obviously this is killing my design work w/o the app. Photoshop works fine.
