Hey all, I hope you can help me with this: I'm looking for a possibility to measure paths In Illustrator. What I want to do exactly is to measure the lenght of individual letters or words. How can I do this? I suppose I will have to manipulate the letters so that they're displayed in single paths through the middle line of the letters, not outlines. How would I do that? And how can I measure the paths then? Thank you in advance for your help!

Need help to separate text in a sentence into individual text or separate text into individual letters. I tried searching with the keywords "divide/split/break + text", but couldn't find a proper discussion about this. I also tried looking in some youtube tutorials also can't find it yet.

This is a stroke circle. I wish to know whether it is possible to duplicate this at the same distance like duplicating stroke line at same distance using ctrl+D key in Windows?   

Onde trabalho, utilizamos muito o recurso de arquivos vinculados previamente em arquivos "templates", onde somente precisamos mostrar ao arquivo onde está o vínculo.Até a versão 28.4.1 do Illustrator, ao abrir um arquivo já previamente preparado para isso, existia a caixa "Aplicar a todos", onde marcamos ela e ordenamos a substituição de todos os vínculos de uma só vez.  A partir da versão 28.5, esse caixa não existe mais, nos obrigando a definir os vínculos um por um, ou fazer downgrade para a versão 28.4.1, que é a última a manter essa opção. Alguns arquivos previamente preparados para produção chegam a carregar mais de 120 arquivos vinculados, que são apenas "réplicas" de um outro arquivo de Illustrator editado. I can create an Envelope Distortion using a mesh grid to achieve the result I want for a single .AI file. However, I want to now use that same distortion map and apply it to a new identical sized file (but with different artwork). Is there any workflow or tools to achieve this? Alternatively, is there any control in ExtendScript you are aware of to do this programmatically? Many thanks!

Hello,Has the AI pattern content type been removed from Adobe Illustrator? I currently have only three content types available for AI generator: Subject, Scene and Icon.Thoughts?

A couple days ago I suffered a hard drive loss. One of the projects I was working on was a set of Illustrator files that used generative art elements. The files are a total loss, so I'll have to re-create them.  My question is, does the generative ai feature save a history of art generated to the adobe account somewhere? .ie would there be a source to review where I could potentially recover some the generative ai sections? All files were saved locally, so no backups or other cloud files exist unfortunately.

I have a document set up with 30 artboards and am placing 30 png's into the document from my files. Is there a way to quickly distribute those pngs? (One png to each artboard)? It doesn't matter which png goes to which artboard, just that I end up with one on each. Currently, I'm dragging each png to an artboard, which is fine, but if there's a button that will automatically do it, that would save me a lot of time. 

Hi, it seems that, in a document with layers, and sublayers, and artwork in the sublayers, hasSelectedArtwork is true on the main layer (which does not directly contain artwork) but false on the sublayerThe documentation suggests the other way round?

Hi,I haven't used slices in Illustrator for a while but I've inherited a project from someone.So I've created some slices, then I select the slices and go to my Asset Export panel. Then I click "Generate Multiple Assets from Selection". Then it shows thumbnails of the slices I just created, but they are blank. When I export them they are blank files. There is art on my artboard, what am I missing here? 

I have tried everything including setting the keyboard increments, but the arrow keys do not move objects in illustrator. Can anyone advise?

Hi, when I searched on this topic I found an answer from 3 years ago but it doesn't work for me, so I'm wondering if there's a new answer for Creative Cloud. I would like to save money by printing some full color Illustrator files in grayscale (on a color printer). I know I can convert to Grayscale in Edit>Colors, but I was hoping for something in the Print dialog box that would, among other things, work for more than one file at once. Something like for Acrobat, where you can set a button to Print Grayscale. I don't see any Grayscale options under Color Management>Printer Profile, which was where it apparently was 3 years ago. Is there an easy solution to this that I'm missing? Thanks.

Hi All,I am trying to export my my AI file as jpeg, but don't want bleed to be included. I export as JPEG and checked the Use artboard function but bleed is still appearing on my exported JPEG files. Does anyone else having this problem

Hello, really needing some help here for creating a graphic style that duplicates an object on a page. I work for a company that prints edible inks on frosting sheets, and the company that makes our frosting sheets changed where some of the cut outs are on the page so I need to create a new template. Long before I worked for the company someone set up the files as templates so you could place a graphic in the first guide on the page and then click on a graphic style that had been created to fill the rest of the page with duplicated objects..  I know how to create an "action" that would do this, but I need the graphic style button because we use these templates at an overseas art service so it can't be something that needs to be set up on each computer like "actions" does.I've searched all over and I can't find anything that references a graphics style that will repeat an object.  All I can find is references to the newer pattern feature under objects. Im trying to use the AI features in Illustrator to create a wood grain effect but in single lines/strokes. It is doing a great job of generating the grains but they are all filled shapes (closed paths). There is a reason I need them as single lines but I can seem to get it to create lines and not shapes. Wondering if I am doing something wrong or the feature can only generate shapes at the moment?Thank you. 

So we're creating a plug-in that's going to work on both Photoshop and Illustrator and would like to have the same login experience on both. As part of that, we're accessing the unique user ID (GUID) that Adobe helpfully provides for us.  Unfortunately, we've found that the GUID accessible in UXP and Express is different from the GUID available in CEP via ExtendScript. The method in UXP to get the GUID, documented here, is this: let userId = require('uxp').userInfo.userId(); // Get the GUID of plugin user  The method in ExtendScript to get the GUID (available in both InDesign and Illustrator) is this: var GUID = app.userGUID; as documented in the property listing here.The GUIDs available in Express and UXP are the same, which is great, but they are different from the ExtendScript GUID available in Illustrator, which is not great. Does anyone know if there's a way to access the UXP/Express GUID in Illustrator, or vice versa? Thanks, Lawrence&

I'm opening files created a few versions ago.  I'm currently using v28 of AI.  When I open a file that had strokes with arrowheads a few wierd things happen.  One, the arrowhead is there, but doesn't show up in the strokes panel as having an arrowhead applied.  It shows as a simple line.  Two, if I add an arrowhead to the stroke they go crazy, pointing in different directions.  Is there a way to open older files, maybe version 24 and NOT lose the arrowheads?  My only workaround is deleting the line, redrawing it, and manually adding an arrowhead.  I have about 100 files that each have 4 to 10 stylized strokes (either a round dot or arrowhead attached.  Its a lot of manual work to fix; but more importantly, will this keep happening with every new version of Adobe Illustrator?  

How can I get Illustrator to open my Pantone color book? I have the book in my library, and Illustrator won't show it in the list of color books. I've tried deleting the color book file, putting a new file in the folder., restarting, etc. I even got the Pantone Connect extension, but don't even know if I have to turn on the extension, or what...

Why is a grid not coming up?

After exporting my AI-file to a PDF most of the used symbols have an interlaced background. Or sometimes the background is gone.I had to deal with this problem several times already.Is there any way to fix this?   

A função de criar prancheta clicando no objeto não esta funcionando mais.Sempre utilizei o recurso dessa forma: ( exemplo )Insiro um PNG de 10x14cm no arquivo, Seleciono a ferramenta prancheta, e clico nesse objeto de 10x14cm, logo, a prancheta é criada no tamanho do objeto. Agora a função não funciona mais, consigo criar a prancheta nova, clicando e arrastando, mas não "copiando" as dimensões do elemento.
