In the last 2-3 weeks, I have been experiencing an issue with the direct selection tool.  If I click on an object, there is a pause and then the whole object is moved to a random spot.  If I attempt to select two items to group together, there is a pause then the two items are yanked out of position.  If I click on an object to duplicate it, instead of just selecting it, it moves it to wherever my mouse goes.  It is as though the selection tool has become "sticky" and "laggy" at the same time.  I am on a 2021 Macbook running Sonoma 14.5 using a mighty mouse. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Illustrator, but there was no improvement.  Every task is taking 1000 times longer than it should because I am constantly putting objects back where they were. What is happening and how do I get it to stop!!

Why don't I have the option of pantone colors?

Illustrator crashed and recovered my file, but it seems to have recovered a corrupt version, which I unfortunately (and stupidly) already saved over the file I had from the last time I had saved. Now the logo I created and saved in my creative cloud library is gone. Is there any way I can get it back or am I screwed by Illustrator crashing!?  There is no version history because the AI file was saved on my desktop. The logo was saved in the cloud, though, but I can't get it to open.  If I click right click-edit on the link, nothing happens. I can't export it. 

Hi - I had a new computer last week and was delighted to finally be able to use Illustrator for the first time. However, I'm finding it is crashing every 10 mins or so... surely this should not be happening.  Everything is up to date and my spec is: Processor AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX with Radeon Graphics 3.00 GHzInstalled RAM 16.0 GB (15.2 GB usable)System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processorI am paying rather a lot for Illustrator each month and am very disappointed it is so unstable?  Anyone have any ideas how I can get it to stop crashing over and over again?  Help appreciated; please be aware I'm no where near a techie. Thanks

I'm stacking the Rounded Corners effect on a group of shapes (after using Add) to merge them. But the result is giving me some weird non-round corners. See screenshot. Thanks in advance for any tips.

I have a problem with opening a psd file in illustrator. This is the file I want to open in illustrator and it says it's not readable. I got back to photoshop and deleted yellow parts, Then I could open it in illustrator. -I didn't use any spot color.-Neither my co-workers could read my psd file on their illustrator. (Theirs opened just fine on mine)-Tried to copy&paste in to a new documents, didn't work-Tried same on my co-worker's computer, didn't work.-Tried save as eps, didn't work. This time yellow was the problem, but sometimes even white(#ffffff) do the same,and more than two colors are problem in one documents.It's really difficult and takes so much time to find which object is making trouble.Especially when there are multiple objects. I don't understand what's going on..Need your help.Thank you.  

 

Hello, It would be incredibly helpful if we could adapt the feature from Figma called Auto Layout designing, which eliminates the need for manual alignment in a tabled layout. I hope that Illustrator and XD will incorporate this feature soon.Could someone please advise if this feature is in development or planned for future releases? Thank you!Best regards,Lejin

Hello - I work in the food packaging sector.Being in Europe, we have a lot of languages to put on the packaging.In the "Character" palette (in the drop-down menu) we can choose the languages to be applied according to the texts.However, when you have to do this dozens and dozens of times a day, you can quickly lose time.So I'd like to program an external palette in which I'll place only the languages we need.The idea is to make one button per language (these buttons would be grouped together in a palette).NB. Unless I'm mistaken, the "paragraph styles" override the choice of language (because it's included in the paragraph style), correct? From my question, is this possible and/or does anyone have a better idea? Thanks, have a nice day   - Dimitri

Hello there,I design neon and I have created a library that uses a lot of parts that I need on every design I do. One is an electrode which there are often several of in a design. It is not a complicated thing but I have different sized ones drawn and kept in my library for ease every time I design neon.  I keep getting caught out sending the design to the neon bender only to find that I have 'forgotten to embed' the electrodes.Rather than me have to remember to click on the drop down menu and embed them every time, is there a way that I can create one/change the ones I have so that when I drop it/use it in a design it automatically embeds out of my library?It would be incredibly helpful and stop me having to rely on remembering to do it for him. When I open the file, it isn't obvious they aren't embedded as it is in my library so I can always see them, it is only when I send it to someone else and they tell me.I know how to place and embed normal linked items or drop in graphics.

Is there a hotkey which allows you to drag to create a selection box without selecting and moving the object below the cursor?  If not, can we please create one? It would save SO much time locking and unlocking stuff.

I have recently updated both Photoshop & Illustrator. Now, when I try to open multiple files the tabs show that the file is open, but only the inital file views, and then none of them work at all. I do have "open new files as tabs" checked. 

In the past week, there have been 2 times I have saved a document, closed it off for the night and opened the next day to see that 30-40 minutes worth of edits and changes were not saved. I know it sounds easy to say 'make sure you are saving the file' - however, I am OCD with my saves and I know before I closed it that it was saved. Has anyone else experienced this?I am digging into my computer to see if there are any problems, but I have noticed that Illy sometimes takes waaaay too long to open documents or move items, but this is all segregated to just Illustrator and not PSD, PP, INDD or AE. 

I'm trying to make a template for an automotive HVAC panel. I've been able to make my circle for knobs just fine and insert icons around those circles at the correct positions. What I can't figure out is how to make line segments of increasing lengths that wrap around the circles like those in the picture below.

How to copy Drop Shadow Effect from one object to another in Adobe Illustrator?

I have a weird problem with Illustrator CC 2020 (24.1.1). Illustrator only saves my AI file progress as multiple .tmp files to the same location as my AI file is located (every "save" or "save as" process creates a new .tmp file, but do not save progress to the AI file itself, .tmp files don't disappear after succesful save as they should). Just noticed this when I lost about 1h worth of work, when Illustrator didn't save progress to the AI file itself but only to the multiple temporary files. Have anyone found solution to this, I noticed that I haven't been the only one with this problem. I have very tight deadlines and this problem is really frustrating, now trying to install older versions of Illustrator. Usually my files are quite large (about 80mb or more) and this has never occured before. Still some large AI files saves just fine without this problem happening. When I uncheck "Print as Bitmap", it is not honored at all, in any circumstance:a) In the Summary, it gaslights me.a) When I press Done and reopen, it's checked again.c) When I print, the graphics come out jagged, which tells me it is being processed with Print as Bitmap.I'm on AI Version 27.2, just updated.Apple M1 Max, MacOS 13.1

Hello,I am facing an issue with charges for Adobe Illustrator. After using the software during a training session, I continued to be charged even after attempting to cancel the service. The charges were as follows:27/05/2024: €26.8624/06/2024: €26.8626/06/2024: €134.32I managed to cancel the program on 26/06/2024, but I was still charged. Has anyone else experienced this or knows how to resolve these unauthorized charges?I appreciate any help or guidance.Sincerely, Joaquim Constantino

With a few pdf's I used I was able to edit them in Adobe Acrobat, but when I open them in illustrator I can't edit them at all. I try to release the clipping mask but noting happens. It seems like one big picture. Here a clipping of the way I can edit in Acrobat

Olá pessoal,como faço para essa mira do Gradiente sair e voltar a ser uma barra ?

Help.When I use the Free Transform Gradient, the bounding box got bigger. It makes it hard for me to align the shape in my artboard. It doesn't happen when i use a different type of gradient tool.  When i tried to expand the shape, and it showed a rounded corner stroke. I am not sure how it happened, or how to turn that off. 

Why can't I see what magic wand selected?
