Hello adobe community! Graphic designer having to use a PC at work here. Today I encountered an issue I've never had before in Illustrator! Weird things started when I was modifying a vector, doing simple actions like changing fill and stroke colors, and I started getting a "cannot complete action" error dialog box and then it would switch my view into outlines. This is something I'm usually able to fix by going into my view menu and returning it to CPU preview, so that is what I did. This was all but fixed; however, the vectors/pasted images in my work space were no longer appearing. If i roll my cursor around in the workspace, it will light up and show that it is there, but I cannot see it or do anything with it. After about 20 minutes of messing with it/copying invisible vectors onto a new document, they reappear. Is this just a PC glitch? Has anyone experienced this before? If you have, were you able to get to a solution faster? Any feedback will help!

Hi, I am trying to save files normally but for some reason they are saving as an illustrator file. I can not seem to figure out how to change it. I have looked through my illustrator settings, my file settings, and my download settings. It does it even when I try to save images from google. I am currently trying to save photos from lightroom though. Thanks!Note: Renamed by Mod

Hello, has anyone had this problem? I finalize files for printing and I'm saving one in one size, I save the file as a pdf in the latest version, and I make sure to keep the option “Honor Scale on PDF Import”, but when my client opens the pdf in his illustrator the file changes the size, becoming small. The same happens with eps. Does anyone know what it could be?

Hi, We've noticed the particular path \AppData\Roaming\com.adobe.dunamis\d225650b-9c1f-4738-97e3-94e805951049\v1\0\ always returns an error within our backup solution that the path cannot be accessed because it is in use by other processes.  Collaborating with the backup solution provider, we ensured that the Volume Shadow Copy service was enabled and running. We also navigated to the said path and ensured that the local SYSTEM administrator account had access to the folder and its files. I would also like to confirm whether the path is safe for exclusion and that excluding the path from backups will not affect the functionality of Adobe Illustrator. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!

I have a bunch of Illustrator files I've created for a client. They don't have an Adobe account or licence, but want copies of all the resources I made for their project which they will hold in escrow. So I need to .ai files. Now that the Creative Cloud sync folder has been removed, there's no easy way to export a bunch of files from Illustrator. The only way I've found of dumping all the resources is to make a library, open each file, select the artboards and drag them onto the library one at a time (because if you select everything and drag it on, it doesn't take the artboard shapes). I then export the library as a 'cclibs' file (which is actually just a zip file) and I can unzip it and find a bunch of poorly named .ai files and all the other brushes and bits and bobs. The client can just have the cclibs file for their escrow, but this isn't the first client who has wanted the .ai files to go along with their project, in case they get someone else to tweak things

I am after some advice on the best way to insert images into a marketing asset. I have attached an image to try and demonstrate what I want to achieve. It would essentially like to insert images into the gradient wave but not sure how to go about it.  Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone, I am working on an Emoji proposal for Unicode, and one of the requirements is to send your image in dimensions of 18×18 and 72×72 pixels. when I'm resizing my design as requested, the out come is blurry and seems way too small. Do those dimensions make sense? or am I miss understanding something?Thank's 

I imported an AI (alterable) fleur de lis pattern that I like, but will need to cover a larger area. When I "expand," it naturally expands the size of every single fleur de lis... What may I do to get this perfect-sized pattern to cover a larger area of the art-board? Thanks in advance!

I import my image and I want to create a cutline to print out on my Roland BN20A and there are several squares in my image. Please help! 

Is there a way to change the directory where Illustrator gets its fonts? Right now Illustrator shows all my Windows fonts from the font folder, CC loaded fonts and then a bunch of other garbage fonts that I never use (im assuming these are from the Windows Fonts folder) I'd like to point Illustrator towards a pure graphics fonts folder without all the wierdo Windows fonts showing up in my selection within Illustrator - thank you!

Hello, I'm trying to make invoicing much more efficient for some dies I get sent to be made.This requires me to list the L & W for each die and than record the SQ IN for each.So I need 3 pieces of info for each die: L", W", total SQ IN We may have up to 30 dies in a single order, and the size of each is different. Doing this manually is extremely time consuming by selecting the perimeter of each die (which is essentially a rectangle shape), recording the L and W from the transform panel and then doing L x W to get the SQ IN.  It would be a huuuuge time saver to automate this. Ideally by selecting all the dies at once and performing some kind of script. Is something like this possible?

So I'm trying out the new 3D options in Illustrator (Tech. preview) and all I am getting is the error:"An error occurred while processing the appearance of an object"As you can see the object is just a rectangle.Also i checked color setting and reinstall illustratorplease solve my problem, problem is still.Is there something I'm not doing correctly?

I make Illustrator patterns pretty frequently and it's always pretty much a smooth process, but I'm having some big issues with this last design I created. When I go to create the pattern swatch it wont cut out/clip the elements that fall outside of the box that create the repeat. I have a no fill/no stroke box on the bottom layer so have no idea what could be preventing the pattern from "clipping" the outer elements. Any ideas?

Hi,I've been experiencing issues with the pattern option in illustrator. I am well-versed in creating patterns, but from time to time I come across this same issue:My patterns appear fine within illustrator, but if I export or place them anywhere else, they end up with seams all over the place (both horizontal and vertical). I've been scouring the internet trying to find a solution to this. I've combed through all the discussions here trying to find someone with a similar issue to mine. This one came close to addressing my issue, but the "Add to Library" solution produced the same awful result.Seamless Patterns - Not Seamless - Contacting CreatorI love the library panel and I use it for everything I can--I like the option to live edit my pattern in photoshop by double clicking. I have to make one-off designs for templates a lot, so having that as a vector is key. Alternatively, I realize I can just expand the pattern and try to delete the mess of clipping masks that happen. Hi! I am brand-new to Illustrator (new job, new responsibilities) and have what is probably a simple question. I've done some research but can't find my answer -- perhaps I'm using the wrong terminology. I'm wording in version 24.1.2. Basically, I need a couple of arrowhead types that aren't included in the standard options offered:An arrow similar to arrow 12, but more narrow (where the two sides of the arrowhead are closer to the main line).An "arrow" similar to arrow 21 (black dot instead of arrowhead), but with the black dot much, much smaller than the default.How would I make these changes to the arrowheads? I seem to remember learning this in one of the tutorials I watched (or maybe in an article I read), but I can't remember where I saw it! Thanks in advance!

Hello! This is a pretty silly issue but I'm pulling my hair out over this one. I'm trying to create a book shape and have made two warped rectangles which I swear I made in exactly the same way. However, one of them fails to fill the shape, instead filling only the outline. This is a closed shape on a separate layer to the other shapes, it happens wherever I put the rectangle on the screen, and there's nothing in the details about the shape that suggests it's different in any way. Please help me I am about to kick my cat.

I need to combine two shapes to create one shape and apply a stroke to the outside of the new shape.I have tried Unite, Merge, Shape Builder, and Expand then Unite. All of them result in the same thing.The two shapes are touching, but do not overlap, and they have no stroke applied. When trying any of these methods, it keeps the shapes in tact (but essentially grouping them), so that when I add a stroke to what should be the new one shape, it does it around each one! I can change the fill color without a problem - it will fill the entire new shape. Applying a stroke is the issue. 

Hello, today my illustrator stopped working properly.I try to open a new file, the menu pops for a second and closes, if i select one of my saved files it opens but any menu i try to open does the same thing.I can't save, change colors, or do anything.It's basically unusable, i tried deleting the preferences folder, reseting via CTRL-ALT-SHIFT, downgrading to multiple versions and still no solution 😞  

Hello. I have this weird issue on my personal computer, which doesn't occure on the device at my work place. When I try to export an artboard as an SVG, Illustrator expands the artboard at the button making a lot of white space. I export as svg through the export as setting, I have minimize and responisve dissabled and I select use artboards. I checked if there where invisible lines by hitting command + Y (I'm on mac on both devices), but there were no invisible shapes and no gradients or clipping masks. All my settings as far as I can see are the same at work and at home. I also tried reinstalling Ai and I even reset my settings. But the problem still occurs and only when exporting as svg. I have looked at other community posts, but none have solved my problem, which is only accouring on my personal computer and not my work computer, both running the newest system update (Sonoma 14.5). Does anyone have an idea, what the problem might be?
