Hello, A customer has contacted me with a problem they are experiencing in InDesign. They are three users who all use Mac and they work against a file server on a Mac Mini, the files that they open and work with are located on this said file server on their office network. They currently use InDesign version 20.0.1 but have experienced this problem for 2+ years. The problem that sometimes occurs is that when one user has closed an InDesign file (.indd) the other two cannot open this file and it says that it is locked/read-only. However user 1 who had the file open has closed it completely. To get around this they have to resave the file with a new name and this is frustrating and risky for them if they happen to open an old file and work in it believing that it is the current latest version

Hallo liebe Community,  ich habe kürzlich einige Schriften aktiviert,bzw. wollte sie aktivieren. Die Aktivierung liegt jetzt in den Hintergrundaufgaben, wird aber einfach nicht abgeschlossen, wodurch ich aktuell keine Exporte mehr machen kann. Ich habe bereits auf allen möglichen Wegen versucht die Aufgabe abzubrechen, sei es InDesign schließen und neu öffnen, Computer neu starten und Version updaten. Sobald ich InDesign neu starte ist die Hintergrundaufgabe wieder da. Weiß jemand eine Lösung? Ich bin für jede Hilfe dankbar 🙂

Hi there, I need to scale down Grouped objects on a layer in Indesign. How can I target this in a script. Layer is called "Layer 1" objects are called "Group 0" to "Group 9". Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Steve

Hello,I've created some manual hyperlinks in my document by selecting  text, then select new hyperlink from the hyperlinks panel, and paste the destination in dialog box as you can see in the screenshot.The hyperlink was created, it's working and can be edited but will not show in the hyperlinks pannel (see screedshot).Info:Mac, OS Mojave 10.14.6InDesign 15.0.2 (Middle Eastern) Any idea why? Hallo, ich arbeite bisher mit der Datenzusammenführung von InDesign. Leider erkennt InDesign seit einigen Wochen nicht mehr alle Spalten meiner txt-Datei. Die Ursprungsdatei in Excel hat deutlich mehr Spalten.InDesign hört einfach nach 7-8 Spalten auf, die weiteren Überschriften anzuzeigen.Kann mir hier bitte jemand weiterhelfen?Vielen Dank schon mal!  

Hello guys, i have a very annoying problem with my .eps files (math equations exported from Word document with Mathtype) on my Mac studio M2 (running Sonnoma 14.3.1). If i import them into InDesign document or open those .eps files in Illustrator symbol/glyphs disappear. I have tried same process (Word -> MathType export to eps -> place eps files into Indesign document) on my coworkers PC and they show up fine, BUT when i opened them in illustrator where glyph is suppose to be i get the X mark for missing glyph.Screenshot from PC, the one with link not missing (eps was untouched just placed into InDesign). You can also see the one eps (that one has been opened in illustrator) below is missing symbol for multiply. Screenshot what happens if i open it in illustrator on PC (on Mac there is just empty space) If i cant open them in illustrator to edit them that i can live with since i can edit in Word and then export, but if i don't touch them after export and

InDesign cc2020 ,I cannot write (ရွှေ၊ငွေ) pyidaungsu book font in table.When writing this words ,right side cell are disappear.why? 

The last 3 days I am struggling with a very serious problem in InDesign:I have a multi-page document and I want to export various pages to separated pdf files.First, I export to pdf (e.g.) page No 15. The file name is "15.pdf"After that, I try to export page No 20. The result is that I have a file named "20.pdf" but the page exported is page no 15!!!No matter which page I export to pdf, the result is a file with page 15!!! The only solution is to restart InDesign! I open the document again, and I export another page, e.g. page 30. After that, every page I try to export, the result is the same again! A pdf file with page 30!!It looks like it keeps the first page I export to pdf, no matter which page I export after that.• I tried exporting page range, e.g. pages 10-25, and still the same result: a file named "10-25.pdf" but the pdf has only page 15, I exported before!!!• I have tried many different pdf Presets and the result is the same. I'm using InDesign 2024 (version 19.5.1)

There is no option to scale width and height equally in the ID object style.In practice, big zoom out, and small zoom in are a bit different.The scripts for this also only simply zoom in, and do not make the content fit the frame, or the frame fit the content.Any recommendations for information on this?Thanks.

In an ITextFrameColumn, there may be multiple IParcels. How to  get the coordinates of an IParcel within the ITextFrameColumn?

Hi,  Sorry for what is probably a stupid question, but I cannot understand snapping to grids and how it works. I've had an online chat with adobe for ober 2 hours and they haven't helped me at all. Basically I want to create a grid that is 1cm spacing. I want everything to snap immediately to it. Especially when I draw rectangles or when I'm drawing straight lines. So, from what I have understood, I went to preferences>grids and set document grid to have a gridline every 10mm with subdivision of 1. I then showed my document grid and turned on snapping. This doesn't work and I can still draw rectangles between gridlines and drag them to places inbetween griedlines. I also tried disabling all the smart guide options that it suggested on one forum, this hasn't solved it. Changing something called snap to zone to 3 seems to get me closer but still isn't quite exact. I'm not sure what the guides in back options do, but they seem to have no effect. 

How do I change the baseline shift in a text form field when exported to a PDF?

Ich arbeite mit der Cloud, weshalb ich das nicht verstehen kann. Gestern wurde ein Update gemacht. I am working on an InDesign document and an image is giving me a linking error. Problem is, the image doesn't have a page number associated with it in the Links Panel, so I can't "go to" that page to track down the image. The image is actually no longer in the document. I'd like to delete it rather than relink it (I don't think I even have the original image anymore) but I can't figure out how. Restarting InDesign didn't help. Thanks!  

I use InDesign 5.5. I created a page, placed five mp3 songs on it, exported the page as PDF. Got a file whose size indicates that the audio files are all embedded. Yay!If I open the PDF in Acrobat Reader, clicking on the preview starts every song correctly. That's great, but clicking again, or clicking another song doesn't stop the old song from continuing. Oops! Once started, a MP3 plays to the very end no matter what I do short of closing Reader. If a user clicks several MP3's they all play resulting in a major sonic cacophony... hmm.Is there an elegant solution to having a handful of songs on a book page? Thank you.

I have both exterior and interior hyperlinks in my document. Simple interior hyperlink such as, "see page 10" points to page 10. Everything works beautifully both in the interactive pdf, and when I publish online to the Adobe server ... until I make a password protected version of the file. External links still work but interior hyperlinks have all gone screwy. Totally unfunctional. I really need for the file to be protected. I'm guessing there's some sort of permissions issue ... when I open the file using the password I thought the links would continue to function normally. Am I missing something? Is this a known thing?

I have a file with 23 different masters (all same background) but prices alter so 23 are needed, then the client goes from A2 to A3 (so do via liquid page) however, masters stay at A2 and when I drag one down to add a late product it messes up all the others. Any advice to maybe changing masters all at once, when i do that it does everything but the text file i need for pricing the product, that stays as A2 thanks

Hello, I teach remotely and my students need to see live demos of me using InDesign. The university requires we use Microsoft Teams (rather than Zoom).   The issue is, the the top control panel for InDesign (InDesign, File, Edit, Layout, Type, Object, Table, View, etc) will not move with the application frame (the InDesign window) from my MacBook Pro to my second display screen (LG). It is stuck.   Because the camera is on my MacBook Pro, I use my MacBook Pro monitor for the Microsoft Teams display. This is ideal because I want to work with InDesign on the larger screen.   Again, the issue is that the essential tool bar (the top tool bar) will not move to the second screen.   This doesn't seem like a big issue, but it actually is. The students need to see how I access different tools and they can not see anyting regarding the top tool bar.   Please help.   Thank you.

Related to the topic of pdf accessibility. Why is it that in an exported pdf, images that are anchored in InDesign in continuous text are displayed last in order to be read on the page, even though there is some text after them, but in order they display before the images? Article options do not work. Tag Exports are set for headings and graphic styles. How to preview and correct the order in InDesign?

Hi, I’m a bit unsure how to explain this question, but basically, on many of my pages, the text doesn’t fully extend to the bottom. I think this is mainly due to the way my layout is set up and my efforts to avoid widows and orphans. I’ve noticed that "famous" books also have this issue, so I assume it’s something I just have to accept. However, it feels like it’s happening too often in my book. Is there a way to fix or adjust this, or do I just need to accept it? I am unable to adjust the copy.  Thank you very much for any help!

Hi thereJust wondering if anyone else is having the same issue as me. I work with iMac computers and save my work directly to a QNAP server. When I go to open or access any files which are located on the QNAP server from any Adobe App or Microsoft App and "Show items as: List" The Date added is NOT showing. However files located on the iMac the Date added is showing fine for those same folders and Files.Also when viewd from Finder the "Date added" is showing regardles where the files are located.I have attached some screengrabs to illustrate this. If anyone can shed any light
