    We are a manufacturing company of 300 employees. We have 20 engineers that use Office and Solidworks, and One guy (me) who uses Adobe software to publish the Install Manuals and Submittal Data Sheets. Our printed documents are attractive and professional and clean, even thought they are the end result of the Excel files and Word docs and Solidworks renderings. The process of Word to InDesign is manageable for small companies, but we are growing, and as we add even more engineers and new types of products AND we need to revise a lot of these every year.        I am swamped.       I have been pushing for Incopy now for years, but it has not (obviously) been approved. I just muscle my way through the influx of marked up PDF files and revised Excel files and word docs.       I open my InDesign files in my license of InCopy and wow,, this is weird.  I need to learn this.       So,, my question is:  Is Incopy the solutionfor a company that wants to allow the Engineers to edit the Install

Every so often, since working on my current iMac (2017), my Application Frame in InDesign gets stuck on my second 32" Benq monitor. The top bar area sits just behind the menu bar. Once it's there, it's there. The accessibility to reposition the frame is now not possible. Even switching the Application Bar, the background frame is still stuck and cannot be moved.Surely, there must be a limit from stopping the Application Frame from running off behind the menu and off the top of the screen, or at least allow an interactive method in a dropdown menu to reset the Application Frame back within the frame of the monitor.For the moment, the only way I have found to resolve this would be to 'Delete InDesign Preference file' (Shift+Control+Option+Command) on start-up and reapply my personal settings and workspaces.After resetting, this crucial part of the frame is now visible.I'm running MacOS Mojave Version 10.14.3, on an iMac 27-inch 4.2Ghz Intel Core i7 running a second 32" Benq screen. I work on Windows. InDesign is very slow during any operation. Sometimes, when I close the program via Task Manager because it won't close otherwise, sometimes it even seems InDesign is running double. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

Hello everyone. Sometimes, after several hours of work, the InDesign menus get completely misaligned! For example, right now when I click "Save As," the "Print Booklet" window opens instead. It’s a real hassle—everything is off! Thanks for your help, and have a great day. Olivier

I specifically need to install the 2024 version on my new machine to continue working on these files.However, when I check the 'Other Versions' section in the Creative Cloud Desktop app, the 2024 version is not listed or available for download. InDesign Book: Chapter starts on right-hand page but displays an even page numberI'm working with an InDesign Book containing multiple chapter documents.In the Book panel, Book Page Numbering Options is set to Continue on Next Odd Page.Example:Chapter 9 ends on page 61. The Book panel shows Chapter 10 starting on page 63. The Document panel shows Chapter 10 starting on page 63.  However, when I open the Chapter 10 document, its first page is a right-hand page displaying page number 62.I've also seen the same behavior in other chapters when the previous chapter ends on an odd/right hand page. Things I've already checked:Automatic Page Numbering is enabled. Document Chapter Number is set to Automatic. The page number is an automatic page-number marker. I found and removed one rogue section, but the problem persists in other chapters. The affected pages are right-facing pages but display even page numbers. Updating all numbering in the Book does not change the page number. The parent page

When i open InDesign the app crashes. I’m unable to even open the app. I have re-installed the app, which didn’t solve the issue. I also tried installing other update versions, which also didn’t solve the issue. All my other Creative Cloud apps are up to date. What to do now?

I saved an indd file and when I open, most of the text is missing. Only 2 text boxes are there, the rest is missing. Any ideas as to what is happening here?

Hi all, is it possible to upload my InDesign snippets to the Adobe CC Library?

Even though I don’t want to use it all, I have activated the entire Adobe Garamond Pro family as that seems to be the only way to be sure of accessing the fonts I do want to use. When I go to the character menu, a limited number of them are available. Yet the paragraph and character styles include the correct fonts. It’s only when I select a few words whose font I want to change that this is a problem. The work around is to impose a paragraph style and then change the font, but that seems absurd. 

I no longer use the Monotype program. How do I delete the plug in from InDesign?

HiEach time I import an image into Indesign, the image loads okay, but I get the blue swirling ‘loading’ icon that never stops. I can save my document, and the menus still work but I can’t work on the actual page, and the only way I can clear it it to Force quit Indesign using Task Manager. This started about 2 weeks ago, and was fine before and I haven’t made any changes to my PC. I thought maybe it started after an update of Indesign, so I tried reverting to an older version, but still had the same problem.I have tried re-installing Indesign. (version21.3)  I use Windows 11.I really hope you can help please?Thanks Chris

So this is annoying, but not critical. Let’s say I’ve got text that I want to change from Minion to Univers (this is a somewhat regular occurrence). There are 27 different cuttings of Univers LT Standard, of which I have only ever used 4 (57 and 67, condensed, oblique, bold condensed and bold condensed oblique).Whenever I select Univers in the top font-family box, it defaults to 39 Thun Ultra Condensed. I have never and will never use this. I’m on Windows and I can’t even find a way to remove those unwanted styles, just the entire family. How can I get 57 Condensed to be my default sans-serif typeface that InDesign selects when I pick Univers in the top box?And on a related note, I wish they had a Black Condensed and Black Condensed Oblique; I would use those too.

I have asked this before but am trying again. There is no scroll bar in the list of activated fonts in Creative Cloud. This makes it impossible to deactivate the fonts I no longer need. Interestingly enough, when I made a screen shot of the window and placed it here, there WAS an active scroll bar in the screen shot — again, only once it was placed. It does not appear when I am in Creative Cloud. I took a screen shot of the screen shot that showed the lack of a scroll bar; I could not place both of them in this box.

This background incorporates a "gradual feathering" effect.Now, after pressing Shift and clicking separately, you have selected two images, and then you try to select the image on the left as the key object.You will find that you always choose the background.But if you want to select the image on the right as the key object, there is no problem.

Emergency situation. I’ve had to delay publication because of a critical problem and my entire business depends on fixing it in the next two days or less.Last year the on-screen-only PDF version topped out about 67 MB. Big but manageable. This year it’s over 165 Mb. This year was slightly bigger (a few more pages added but all vector animations and text). The size of the full .indd file went up from about 490 Mb to 692 MB. When I save-as it reduces to 386 until it’s opened.Adding about a dozen vector images and text frames shouldn’t add 100 MB to a PDF, when downsampling is deeply constricted in size reduction (96/144, Medium resolution). I have an absolute ton of internal and external hyperlinks, cross-references and so on. Graphics aside from the cover are reasonably small for the most part, although there may be a handful that are a bit bigger.What can I check and compress to make this a lot smaller? My hosting server will not allow a file that big, and I doubt my customers want a 1

InDesign 2025. If I go to the menu, choose Object > Generate QR Code and type in the ISBN number in the Content Plain Text dialog box, will I get the correct barcode? How do I test it?Thank you.

Why did the update erase all my custom workspaces

Ever since the update to 2026, my InDesign panels won't open on occassion. I have to quit InDesign and reopen to get the the panels to open. Anyone else experiencing this? (Windows 11 Pro)

InDesign this version is CRAP so many issues with it. Font issues. Formatting issues. Now crashing during output - add that to the list -  Why do so many updates just to break things that were working fine in the first place, to add a bunch of features most of us will never ever use. Most commercial users of this program do not need all the bells and whistles, we just need it to work correctly for basic usage. I just came here to say I basically hate Adobe. I hate it ever since it went to CC. Too many updates, too many issues, etc. SIGH - and to think we PAY for this lol
