I'm not sure what's going on but when opening Indesign 2024 now he top menu where you go File, Save has disappeared and I can't see how to get it back. Does anyone have a solution for this please?

I was curious if there was a way to "unlink" certain elements in the table of contents. For example, I am using the TOC to set up my table of contents and have the elements I want linked shown up in a highlighted yellow, and the ones that are not linked are in white without pages numbers. (The ones in white are hidden text on a page)   When I export to a PDF, they are all linked. Is there a way to turn off for a specific paragraph style or somewhere in the TOC to tell it to NOT link for those not hightlighted?    My client wants the table of contents to include all these standards in order, with the ones in yellow going to her specific document as an interactive PDF. Hi,   Does anyone know if there is a way to restart footnotes on every page? I have a client who wants to use astericks, but I don't want to have them number for the whole book, but rather only for each page. I don't like the look of having multiple astericks on one footnote (********* as an example). There are max 2-3 on each page, so I'd rather they be labelled *, **, ***.  Hopefully this makes sense! Hello all,I open an older version indesign document in 2019, and try to convert text to outlines, and it deforms, changes the adjustments of the text, changes the text frame width, leaving the outlined text with kerning errors. I have checked the fonts for any error, they seem to be fine. Hello everyone,I have a stupid question: until some time ago we were still working with Indesign 2023 on several computers because it went well.A few weeks ago, we loaded the update to ID 2024. This is also going so far, only one thing is annoying: with ID 2023 and also with all versions before, you could scale the screen view with "Command-Spacebar" and then a rubber band appeared, which covered the scaling range. With ID 2024, the rubber band is no longer present at "Command-Spacebar", but the screen scales immediately. For the rubber band, you now have to add the shift key to get this function. I have a document that includes long lists of names, many of which are followed by words in parentheses that need to have a certain character style applied (but the parentheses remain unstyled). Several years ago I asked if there is a GREP search that can accomplish this, and I received an answer from Nigel Chapman that worked: Because you want to exclude the brackets from the matched string, you need to use look-behind and look-ahead. It isn't pretty. Search for(?<=\()[^)]+(?=\))Set the replacement to$0and set the Change Format to your character style. It doesn't seem to be working now. Should this still accomplish what I need, or is there a change to the Find or Change To strings I need to make? Mac OS 12.4InDesign 17.3 Thanks

I am creating an interactive pdf. On one page I would like a reader to be able to use a slider (or a good alternative) to view and move between 4 images of a single building. The building looks new and the gradually becomes older and more overgrown.  I simply have 4 photoshopped images which show the building looking more and more overgrown. So I would like the reader to be able to move the slider backwards and forwards and watch the building change in age. Is this interactivity possible using Indesign? Thanks for any help.  

When using Variable Fonts and checking ‘Map Optical Size to Font Size in Variable Fonts’ (under Preferences > Type), are the type sizes extrapolated from fewer drawings? For instance, in a 24 pt. size, does ‘Map Optical Size’ employ the Display-size drawing, or is the optical size created based on the selected size? In other words, for fonts that possess four optical sizes (Display, Subhead, Regular, and Caption) will selecting ‘Display’ produce the optimal rendering at 24 pt., while selecting ‘Custom’ extrapolates a rendering at the 24 pt. size?

It's better to use font spacing. However, it is troublesome to adjust the font spacing. For example, when the font size becomes larger, I have to try every Letter spacing value.Just want to ask: What is the relationship between font size and spacing, can we calculate it? 

For years I have been using a G13 Logitech Gaming Board with CCSuite. I have the key shortcuts I use most programmed into the G13. I had Illustrator 2017 and Photoshop 2017 installed and had been using them since their release. This week I was able to upgrade from InDesign 2014 to 2017. When I did, the macro's using the Space and Shift keys stopped working. These are keys I use constantly. I use Command + Space to Zoom In, Space to activate the Hand tool, Option + Command + Space to Zoom Out. They all still work pressing them on my keyboard but not on the G13. Does anyone have any ideas?Things I have done since updating to InDesign 2017:uninstalled and reinstalled all CCSuite programsupdated Logitech and Wacom drivers (This caused a conflict between the two so, I had to install older drivers)deleted and reprogrammed both the G13 and Wacom shortcutsposted a help question on Logitech's forum (no reply or even acknowledgment)This issue is really cutting into my productivity.It is harshing

Hello everyone, I am seeking assistance with an issue related to some very important files. A friend of mine, who is quite elderly, authored a series of documents many years ago using Adobe PageMaker 6.5 on an old Mac, which has since broken down. Recently, I managed to recover the hard drive and found four files, each containing over 2000 pages of content.However, I am facing multiple challenges: 1. Cannot Open Files: I attempted to open the files with both InDesign CS6 and CS5, but the program crashes every time. It seems there might be compatibility issues or corruption in the files.2. Font Issues: The primary language in the documents is Vietnamese, with some annotations in Chinese characters and Japanese. The original font used is "Vinapala". Additionally, I am unsure which encoding was used in these documents. I tried opening it with other editors, of course some applications can open it but it has font error, looks like martian language.These files are crucial to

I purchased the font Jealous Punk Dot, thinking I could quickly fill the interior dots with a contrasting color to the primary letter of the font. For example, a pic online shows the font in white, with the dots inside being blue. I assumed I'd only need to click the stroke button, and the inside dots would fill. However, when I hit the stroke button, it adds a stroke around the entire font and inside the dots- as it should. I don't have to convert the font to outlines and fill in each dot, right? What would be the point of that? I'm stumped. It's like the font has two main colors. Help!     

It's strange that there's no option in the object style to limit the size and have the height vary with width. When I only limit the width to 52mm, I want the height to scale proportionally with the width.Now here's the thing, the frame doesn't automatically fit. Am I just not getting it?Or did Adobe forget?Thanks. 

I do not know why I am getting this message. I have never seen this before in all the years I've been using Adobe apps. I had some files on my server. I copied them to a transfer drive. I then copied them to my production machine. I do not have my server mounted to my production machine.  I open a InDesign file and this is what I get. I feel like an idiot having to finally give up and ask this, but how do I get my chosen workspace to stay up and available? (Win 11, ID 19.0.1 but persistent since first v19 release.)   What I want is simple: if ID is open, I want my workspace (all panes and palettes) visible. I use an enormous spread of panes that I've optimized over the years, and hate having to go look for things. Through the end of v18, other than the occasional glitch after an update or prefs reset, ID has quietly met this requirement and displayed my workspace from startup to exit, regardless of what doc I may or may not have open.   Since v19, ID seems to refuse to open a workspace until I open a document. Bad enough, except that I have occasionally opened ID to find my full workspace laid out, so it must be possible, right? And then it's a crapshoot as to whether the workspace will open even when I do open a regular work doc, one that has been closed multiple times with the full and proper layout arou

Bonjour, j'ai un problème sur mes exports pdf indesign. Quand j'imprime en recto verso, le vérso est systématiquement à l'envers... Le problème vient forément d'indesign car il est récurrent même sur des imprimantes différentes. Je précise que le recto comme le verso apparaissent pourtant à l'endroit sur mes documents pdf. Par pitié, quelqu'un aurait il une solution ? Je vous remercis d'avance pour vos réponses 🙂
