Is there a script to set all columns of a table at once to a specified width value?I have almost 50 tables with column widths that need to be adjusted to the same value.I can only use the align to reference line method for now, as too many is quite time consuming. It would be nice to have a script to set it.It can set how many columns there are and specify the width of each column.Thank you.
Hello everyone,I recently upgraded to Indesign 2023 (v. 18.1) and I can not scale the user interface in the Preferences menu because the slider is greyed out. I know I should try downscaling the resolution of my monitor but it did not work. Is there anyone who found a fix? Thanks for any kind of help!
Hi, I open an old document, and the font is open. When I copy a text box into a new document, the font is no longer open. Also, if I make a save as of my first document and reopen it, the font is not open.Could it be because my initial document is 2017 and my new ones are 2018?I tried to save in idml but it does not change anything.Forgive my spelling mistakes, English is not my first language.Thank you
Hi there, as in the topic I've been trying to publish a document using short videos, that seem to be correctly put on the page, also they're all h.264 kodeq with mp4 format so it should be fine, but once published it won't work online. Altough it works in Adobe Acrobat. 2 errors show up: 1. on the media panel saying (that's my own translation since I'm using the app in polish): "interactive pdf might not support elements steering the playback of audio and video". 2. This is an error poping next to sharing option saying (again it's my own translation):"Interactive elements, such as buttons, forms, animations, audio, video, MSO objects, and page transitions are currently not supported". Did anyone came across this? help! 🙂 <Title renamed by MOD>
I have an indd book (11 sections) that was produced for print. I would like to convert to fixed format ePub displaying as spreads (facing pages - single page beginning and end is okay). It looks like I would need to change document setup to Facing Pages first, but my layouts and images shift when I do that. How can I avoid that? And should I export the entire book (700 pages) to ePUB all at once or by chapters? <Title renamed by moderator>
Oh dear - I seem to have got myself into a muddle over the threading of my 190 page book. I have inserted pages and deleted pages but that didn't seem to work and now I have turned on the 'show threads' option and my pages seem to be threading all over the place. Is there a way I can re-thread the entire book so that everything threads properly from one page to the next?
If I place a PDF with hyperlinks in an InDesign document and then save the InDesign document as an Interactive PDF, the hyperlinks do not work. Who knows the solution for this?<Title renamed by MOD>
Hello, hoping someone might be able to help me. I created an illustrator file where I used multiple links of a photoshop png to create a pattern. I then brought the pattern into indesign, but I forgot to embed the pngs. I sent the indesign file (packaged) to the printer, (when indesign packaged, it did NOT include the original png's that were linked within in the illustrator file so the printer didn't have the original photoshop artwork). For reasons unclear to me, the printer did not have an issue outputting and the resolution was fine. I then had a seperate issue with something unrelated, realized that I didn't embed the images and went back and embedded all of the png's into the illustrator file. When I did this and updated the artwork in indesign, the output is brighter in appearance. My guess is it's because the png is now updated and it's rgb since it's a png, but maybe what they were outputting before is a "memory" of the artwork and it translates to CMYK? Curious to

I am working locally on a MacBook Pro with M1 Max Pro on Monterey version 12.6 using InDesign 2023 18.0 I created a Book and have created documents to add to the book. Both are saved on an external hard drive. I had no problems with InDesign 2021 with these same activities last year in October. When I try to add the documents to the book, I get an error message telling me that the documents are locked and cannot be added to the book. When I edit my documents, I am unable to save or save as. When I save, it refuses and gives me an error message suggesting that the documents are open in another app and suggests that I save as. When I save as, the error message save that an attempt was made, but the document appears damaged. I have tried to revert to previous versions without success. I cannot either amend old files or create new ones. I tried also to download InDesign onto Windows 11 that I am dual booting without success. This problem has
I'm having trouble getting the fonts to load after we updated InDesign to 19.5 on a Windows 11 machine. The fonts will not show up in Creative Cloud desktop on this computer. Just get the spinning ball. We uninstalled and reinstalled Creative Cloud and still no fonts. Not having problems on another computer with Windows 11. Thank you.
Hello! I need help with adding crop marks to 8.5"x11" InDesign file. I need the crop marks to be at the 8.5"x11" mark and the document when exported to be at 9"x12" document size in PDF. Would someone be able to point me in the right direction regarding the printing requirements I need to set up in order to get it exported correctly? Thanks! <Title renamed by MOD>
Silbentrennun
I had 7 pages made. They are advertisements for my job. THye just dissappeared when I opened them and recovery is grey. What happened?

My computer updated to Windows 11 two weeks ago and working in InDesign has become a nightmare of sluggish performance and a ton of aggrivation. From what I have read, this is now part of the Adobe creative suite. I reset the preferences and nothing. I have the right memory and equipment to run InDesign 64bit, so it is not my system. Why has Adobe abandoned it's users? <Title renamed by MOD>
Hello,I am running Adobe InDesign CC on a MACI have about 200 tables in an indesign document. Due to many changes over many weeks, by several people i am having to go through each table individually to confirm/correct formatting issues.I need to apply/overwrite:Outline border line thickness and colour (outline .5 point, colour X)Internal line thickness and colour (line thickness .25pt, colour X)alternating background colour (alternate between 'no fill' and colour x)I have tried to set a style but it offers inconsistent results.I have search around but obviously being quite a specific request I have found nothing. Is this an easy task for someone familiar with scripting? If so could someone help me please?I can provide a sample table.Regards Don
Dear Adobe Support Team, I am writing to express my frustration and concern regarding the persistent issues I am experiencing with exporting PDFs from both Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. Despite ensuring that I am using the latest versions of these applications, I continue to encounter significant problems that are severely impacting my workflow. As a professional who relies on Adobe’s software for my day-to-day work, I expect a high level of performance, particularly given the premium cost of the Creative Cloud subscription. However, the recurring issues with basic functionalities like PDF export—an essential feature for any design professional—are making it increasingly difficult to justify the ongoing expense. Specifically, I have experienced: Failed or incorrect PDF exports from InDesign, even with relatively straightforward documents.Significant slowdowns and occasional crashes during the export process in both Illustrator and InDesign.Persistent issues despit
Hello, I'm trying to create a script that would automatically place and position documents in my Indesign file automatically for the purpose of setting up a file for sending to print. The script below currently handles PDFs exactly the way I need them to (placing each page of the PDF sequentially into each page of the InDesign document), but struggles to to do the same for other filetypes, where it places the 1st page throughout the whole document. It would be ideal if i could get this to work for .indd files. I'm not particularly savvy with script writing, so have been using ChatGPT to create the script, but so far nothing has worked. If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated. (script is below) #target indesign// Get the active documentvar doc = app.activeDocument;// Prompt the user to select a file to placevar fileToPlace = File.openDialog("Select a file to place", "*.*"); // *.* allows all file typesif (fileToPlace) {// Disable screen redra
Why is my text pixelated until I start typing? It's brutally hard on the eyes.Here is what it looks like before I start typing in a text box:Here is what it looks like when I start to edit/type in the text box:My display settings are to anti alias:Changing it to Fast display does nothing. I'd like to be able to read my screen clearly. This seems like something that should have a really easy fix.Thank you InDesign gurus for reading!{Renamed by MOD}
I've asked you before, but it's a bit sporadic. This feature should be used by many people. Apply table style first: mytab. Then cell style:Table body: set the minimum row height to 7mm. The end of the table(tab footer?):first judge the last line, if it is a blank line, straight should be set as the end of the table line, apply footer cell style, and go to the end of the table. If the last line is not empty, then add a new line as the end of the table.Set the exact line height is: 1.058mm. Table header:it is generally believed that there is only one line of table header.Copy a line of the table header, at the same time in the first new line of blank lines, horizontal merge cells, fill in the ‘continuation of the table’ two words, and apply the ‘continuation of the table’ cell style. The first two rows will be transferred to the header row, and skip the header.Set the exact row height: 5mm; Thank you very very very much.
This morning I scanned a photo, taken in 1904, I found in a magazine that shows a relative. The image size in the magazine is 4x3 and it is very grainy. I understood that I was not going to get a crisp image but scanned at 1200 dpi to get what I could. When I scanned it, on an HP Laserjet Pro MFP 4301dw, I did not notice that the Preset setting was "Document" which yielded a PDF - see 01.jpeg attached (jpeg because I photographed it on my computer screen using my cell phone, as is the case for all 3 attached images). I placed the pdf in an InDesign document and printed it using the HP Laserjet Pro MFP 4301dw; it was dark as I expected - see cell phone image 02.jpeg. I then rescanned at 1200 dpi with Preset "Photo" which produced a jpeg and, on screen, a somewhat better image - see cell phone image 03.jpeg attached. I then imported both 01 and 02 into Photoshop and modified the brightness/contrast. However, when I went to print the modified images out of InDesig
I just finished a very big layout intended for a 525+ page print book. It's an update to a prior edition, and previously, for that edition, I copied the entire finished InDesign file into Word, redid all the formatting, and then converted it to a Kindle file for Amazon using their amazingly bad Kindle Create tool. It was a huge pain, and I'd prefer a better way. I tried just exporting the book to an EPUB, but the result was a fixed layout book. Some of the fonts didn't work out, but I can fix that. I'll just change them to something it'll accept. I don't mind the fixed layout that much, but the font might be a bit tiny for some readers, and I would rather this be a flowable layout, if possible. Maybe it's not possible because I have footnotes and lots of illustrations, and maybe that's confusing InDesign. But there doesn't seem to be an option for selecting "flowable" when I do the Export. Is there something I'm missing? Do I need to start over with a different file format in InDe
Hi, Not sure what is going with adobe but their apps performance is going worse and worse. I have latest nvidia studio drivers, 2x rtx 2080ti, 16 core 5950x cpu, 128 GB ram, windows 11 and this is the result of all money I spent do have solid rig: Working in indesign is so slow in 19.4, if I want to edit text, it takes ages. Or move. Whole life I am using high performance view that I never had issue with. Here is the video how slow it is. : https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/nwz0idwcw4od9cc54gi24/Z-znam-2024-08-02-182107.mp4?rlkey=y9xk887i1cof0dlghq7v7v8o8&dl=0 Tired again of the performance. Adobe CS6 was so good so I don't get it why when someting is working, adobe mess with it. <Title renamed by moderator>
Working on a graphic handbook for which there will be an ebook. The bullet points are circles with a number inside and the outake quotes are larger circles with type inside. When this is converted to an ebook as a fixed layout (because reflow just makes a disaster of the layout) there are square boxes around the circles. (This doesn't appear in the print pdf.) There are no effects on the circles - they are just a basic black % or they are white with a small rule. It seems to make no difference if they are grouped or not or whether there is a text wrap or not.(The header in the ebookHow do I resolve this? Thanks
