Hi, lately I noticed that LR doesnt show previews in the library module for many of my photos. It did not even build them without "force" - I had to select the image and then after some time, the preview was built. I deleted the complete preview folder, but the problem persisted. SOME photos got their preview rebuild nearly instantly when I scrolled through the library, others refused to show their preview. Task manager showed LR idling at 0.5 to 0% CPU (and I DO have a nice machein!)Playing around I at least found WHICH images are the problem: Metadata -> Develop presets. ALL images WITH (any) develop preset work as exprected, previews created ultra fast. All image without preset have problems with preview.Questions:1. Anybody else with this problem?2. Any "workaround"? Like adding a "dummy" preset to all images with no preset?3. Is it a bug or something corrupted in my catalog?

Hi,I know that starting with the May 2024 release of Lightroom Classic (version 13.3), listed Sony cameras are now supported for tether capture. Has anyone SONY camera users able to tether it? My current camera is Sony A7C II, firmware 1.02, Lightroom Classic v13.3, as promised but has failed to do so. Suggestion please...
I see a massive difference between a picture in Library module and Develop module. The picture in Develop mode is what I am looking for, with all the tweaks I've made, but the library view is close to as shot. I've attached examples below. It's not just one picture either. it appears to be across my whole catalog. I have turned on lens correction on import. It's almost as if Lightroom has forgotten my edits when I leave develop mode. Further, the picture exports as it looks in Library, not Develop as I would expect. I've tried exporting with different color spaces (Adobe RGB, ProPhoto RGB and sRGB) and nothing changes. I'm running the latest update for Lr Classic (13.2) and Windows 11 Home is up to date as well. I've searched through the community and haven't found an answer that fits for me , so I'm bringing my problem in with the hope someone can tell me what the issue is.
Video playback performance in Lightroom Classic CC is generally bad and usually degrades after attempting to playback a few videos. Playback is typically choppy, even with relatively lightweight HD files, and especially with UHD or 4K+ content. The video will often stutter when playing, sometimes skipping large sections of video, or playing at a low frame rate and other times completely failing to playback the visuals all while the audio finishes playing. Video in Lightroom Classic usually also appears very low quality when attemting to playback, usually playing at lower resolution with lots of jaggies / aliasing. Lightroom Classic has advertised a lot of useful video tools (see: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/video-lightroom.html) that are nearly impossible to use properly due to its inability to playback video properly. This issue has been persistent in LRC for years, across multiple systems and any catalog with more than a few videos in it.
How to reproduce: 1) Open the develop module2) Select a Collection3) Right click and select: "Export this Collection as a catalog..."4) Select a folder5) Select options to export raw files too6) Click on the export button7) Do something else, Lightroom may fail the export with "Lightroom was unable to export the catalog due to an unexpected failure." Hello Since its last update, LC is driving me crazy with metadata. I write, over and over again, the title and caption... and they disappear! It's random, some images keep the metadata and others don't. It also does strange things when trying to synchronize metadata (title, caption and keywords, mainly). Please Adobe, this is NOT serious and it is wasting an impressive amount of time. It's unfuriating!
Using LR Classic 13.3 (Windows 11) in Develop mode, I'm pressing Control+U to execute the Auto Settings function of the Basic editing panel. When I do so, a "Choose Folder" dialog is presented, instead of Auto Settings being applied to the selected image. (Since I'm not sure why it is asking for a folder, and what it would do to or with my images if I choose one, my response has been to cancel.) The same occurs if I have multiple images selected when I press Control+U. The Control+U shortcut is listed as "Auto Settings" in the Develop Shortcuts pop-up (Control-?) and in the LR Classic Keyboard shortcuts help page updated May 21, 2024. What am I missing?
I am trying to get a better understanding of what LRC does when I print an image. According to Adobe Help (https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/color-management.html), DRAFT printing is done using Adobe RGB, so I have to assume that for regular printing, ProPhoto RGB is used. However, my printer (Epson SC-P800) does NOT have ProPhoto RGB as an input color space option (in the "Mode" setting in the printer dialog). Given this discrepancy, how can printing using the setting "Profile - Managed by printer" ever be expected to give an accurate print?FYI: I am using LRC: v 13.3 on Windows 11-23H2Thanks, Adriaan Sachtler
the release notes simply state, that a new preview method is now in use but does not provide any details. What I have found is that for every photo in the catalog, there are now multiple preview files. The naming of these files implies, that various sizes are created: *_90, *_180, *_360, *_720, *_1440, *_2880 or *_105, *_210, *_420, *_840, *_1680, *_3360 or *_320, *_1024, *_2048, *_4096, *_8192I presume these numbers corrispond to the pixel size of the previews. And I assume, that all of these different previews are being updated every time a photo is developed - which adds quite a lot of processing to the creation of the previews and on the other hand presumably improves preformance when in library module. Hopefully the performance improvements warrant that. What I find a somewhat bad design decision, is that the preview files do not have a file suffix anymore. This makes it very difficult to exclude these new previews from backup software, also b
Using iMac 24" M1 chip Sonoma v. 14.5. LrC v. 13.3. Lots of beachballing which seems to start after using the program for a while. Also, the brush intermittently shows strokes when using the mask and at times doesn't show them at all. Sometimes the strokes show up after a long period of lagging which makes it impossible to figure out where you are on an image. On a good note, the eyedropper seems to work when on WB now. Camera Raw limit was set to 10 and have increased it to 20 to see if that makes a difference (saw this suggestion in an older post). Everything was working fine prior to the latest update. Hi, I am new to Lightroom, but have experience in PS. I have an HDR image that was created in Lightroom from 5 bracketed photos. When I go to apply a mask to a specific area of the photo, I follow these steps:Click on Masking button on the right, in the Develop tab (or shift+W)Click BrushPaint my maskNow, when I do the last step, the part that I just masked changes - it's like I applied increased exposure to the masked part. But, I didn't. I haven't toushed any settings yet. It's not the Overlay (thats red). When I exit the masking tool, it's still there. This has happened on several different photos - both HDR and not HDR.It's like LR is arbtrarily changing settings before I apply a mask, but I can't find a way to set it back to 'baseline'. In PS, if I create a mask on a layer without any changes done yet, and use the brush tool to paint my mask, the photo doesn't change - only after I say, for example, change Curves. This is what I expect to happen in LR as
Why o' why does LR force you to create a new catalog with a DIFFERENT name???Why can't it simply move your older catalogs into a folder and build the new catalog? Because I have lots of local and cloud backup storage that are dependent on file names being the same, otherwise thing don't sync properly, I have to do this everytime an update is required.1. Create a new catalog with a new name as instructed by LR.2. Quit LR.3. Go to my catalog folder, carefully select the old LR catalog files that are right next to the new ones (don't mess this up) and move them to a different folder.4. Rename all of my new catalog files back to the original file name.5. REPEAT THIS PROCESS FOR EVER CATALOG I HAVE!!!!This can take a few hours for me. Seriously Adobe, fix this.
Hi, thank you for reading my post...I have all my photographs on an external hard drive. I am running out of space so I have a new SSD external drive and I wish to move my entire collection of photographs over to the new SSD external drive. I dont keep any images on my internal drive they are all on an external drive. I want to move everything over to the new SSD drive and would appreciate some expert guidance before I do this please. I am using a 2023 Macbook Pro and running LR Classic v 13.3I have a large collection of images (89000 plus)As I have not done this before I really would be grateful for a pointer to a tuitorial or some first hand advice.Thank you so much....
I regularly have to switch between catalogs whilst working and until the beginning of the year I would simply go to file>open recent, select the catalog I wish to use, the app would quit and reboot using the chosen catalog. Now I select the catalog to open and nothing happens. I initially assumed it was because I was on an older mac with a really outdated version but its still happening on my new mac with the latest version. I have to quit the app and locate the catalog and launch from there. Anyone know how to resolve this issue? Thanks
I use the tablet in the field to begin working on some of the photos and will eventually transfer all the the desktop.
All my photos are GPS tagged and show the LR lookup location information. I wish to export files with "City" as part of custom name. This does not work. I think there was an issue in the past where LR, despite having the location data resolved from the GPS and allowing its use in search, could not access this for manipulation. J Friedl put together a metadata wrangler to handle this - but it is not available for current LR versions. How am I supposed to use location hased information in custom text. The function is there to include this metadata - it should work surely. Any work-around appreciated. (And no, I am not going to manually type in the location metadata...) cheers ________________ Windows 11 current version. Latest LR 13
With latest update (LRC 13.3), no longer able to batch update GPS field either in Library or Map modules, i.e., select multiple photos in either Library grid or Map film strip, enter GPS coordinates in metadata field. The entered GPS coordinates will only register in the first photo in queue. Only way to update all photos is to enter GPS on each photo individually. This failure is frustrating as this has been my only work-around for the problem outlined below which has existed for years. This second issue in Map module has been ongoing through many updates: selecting multiple images on film strip and dragging them onto a map have them landing a distance from target. If I try to drag a single photo and drop it directly over a pre-existing flag, it, too, will "bounce" several inches away. I have seen complaints on this elsewhere on net, but have never found a solution. My only alternative has been to batch edit, but now that no longer works.
When I export to video the image quality is circa 1995 (I have set it to high quailty).I also can not get my 4:3 image to occupy max space as when I select Zoom to Fill Frame, my shots in Portrait oriengtation get croped into Landscape. So what is the vaule to being able to add music to something of such inferiour image quality. I went diretly to Adobe who told me Lightroom is a photo editing software and its slideshow capabiliters are limited. So, back to my question - what value is there in the Slideshow module?
It seems that in the past 4-5 months every single time I go to use Lightroom I find something has 'broken'. As a result I'm spending more time 'fixing' LR then using it for what I bought it for and it's getting very annoying.Anyway, rant over. Two weeks ago I was using LR and everything was working correctly, then last week I was on holiday and so my iMac was switched off and nobody has used it or LR until I launched it yesterday to download all my photos. All my photos imported into my catalog fine, it did fail to import the videos I'd shot which were .MOV files but LR never seems to be able to import them and I don't really need video in LR so it's never particularly bothered me.I was able to edit and organise the photos without problem but when I try to do a slideshow I then get the message "Dynamic link media server failed to launch" after which the play button is greyed out.I tried uninstalling and reinstalling LR. No differenceI tried a solution I found on here where you open a F
Lightroom is unusable after enabling an AdHoc Wi-Fi network using this method:https://www.makeuseof.com/how-to-create-a-secure-ad-hoc-network-in-macos/ ... even with the AdHoc network off, Lightroom still freezes after a few minutes. Lightroom Classic 13.3 (and 13.2) will get the spinning beach ball of death and freeze for several minutes at a time. CPU usage rises and hovers around 100%.
