RoboHelp HTML 9 and 11. I call an auto-sizing popup to explain a button on an image map. Sometimes it works OK. In certain cases I regularly get the following error message:I just upgraded to RH 11 before reporting the problem, in case it was solved. But it isn't.
While I am opening the context help from IE 10, on the left navigation pane, I am able to see the three tabs, Content, Index and Search. For once (that is, one time), I am able to see the contents on the tabs. Second time onwards, the Index doesn't show any contents. Any fix to this issue? The help works fine on Chrome though. I am using RH9 to create the help.
We are trying to use svn as the version control system with Robohelp. We followed this tutorial: Integrating RoboHelp projects with Subversion | Adobe Developer ConnectionAs long as we try it with a new project that we built it seems to work fine.but when we import the current robohelp project and try to open it, Robohelp freezes (or at least takes a very long time) in the status Querying version control. The project uploads, updates and commits fine when we use tortoise, but it won't open in robohelp no more.Does anyboy have any idea what the cause could be?The robohelp project we want to use is one that was until recent versioned in robosource,We also updated this project to robohelp 11.Thanks in advance.Peter
Hi guys,I'm just wondering if I'm overlooking something with Multiscreen HTML5 browse sequences. As far as I can see, all you can do with them is have a graphic or text for the Next/Previous links. Is there an option to display a drop-down list of available browse sequences like in CHM files? Or to show the topic progression?I kind of assume not, but you never know if you don't ask. Thanks,Amber
One of my projects in a merged projects is showing two browse sequences in the merged system. I've tried deleting the project from the merged system, recompiling, checking that the browse sequence doesn't appear in the merged system, then adding back the project. The duplicate browse sequence appears again. I've also checked the individual project and there is no duplicate browse sequence when I view iit. Any ideas?
I am having challenges with some PDFs being found when you search. For example.Using Sleep as the search word, the PDF document with a title "Sleep Apnea Guideline" should have been found. But it isn't. Many other documents and websites are found but not the one I expected. And even when I search for Sleep Apnea, the document is not found. The primary layout is Multiscreen HTML5.So far I have managed to solve every problem that my client has asked to solve so that they can use RoboHelp as the method to deliver a large number of reference documents and websites. Unfortunately, this one issue my stop everything. I am not able to explain why the document cannot be found. Am I doing something wrong?
I converted a RoboHelp 9 project to RoboHelp 10 and noticed that Column 1 in all tables has a preferred width setting of 93% and it is not allowing me to remove this setting. When I uncheck the Preferred width checkbox and click OK, then go back to the Table Properties>Column tab, the Preferred width checkbox is checked again with a width setting of 93%. The column width is not specified in the HTML, it is set to fit to the contents (<col />). The odd thing is that Column 1 only displays this way in Design view. When previewing and publishing the topic, it displays correctly (fits to contents). This however makes editing content in tables extremely difficult in Design view. Any assistance is appreciated.
Hi guys (Willam ),We've had a designer customise a screen layout for us. We started with Desktop_Layout. The designer doesn't know Robohelp, and the documentation is sparse, to say the least.I'm wondering what issues we may run in to and if there is anything we absolutely, definitely shouldn't do.For example,@charset "utf-8", and * and html definitions have been added to the stylesheetinstead of embedding the toc book images in the Topic.slp, the images are coded in the css.additional divs have been added (such as left-column, right-column, wrapper, content-wrapper)some divs have been removedAnything for which there was not an obvious use has been removed, e.g. wTOCNodeCloseBook, div.wTopicadditional css has been added to style the content of the "topic holder" section. e.g. content p, content h1, content h2.The Search results page is called "Topic", although it seems to have the correct icon in the Project Setup Pod.There are regular html tags inside the search results layout, e.g. &
For the life of me, this seems like something that should be done easily. My see-also lists are not listed in the order I dropped the topics in, but rather alphabetically. Is there any way to display the see also in the order I place them? I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense. Let me explain what I do just in case you aren't sure what i'm asking.1. I create a see also.2. I drag and drop several topics into the see also.3. They get ordered alphabetically, not in the order I dropped them in.4. ? How can I make these display in the order I dropped them in ?Thank you so much for all your help if you have a solution, I really appreciate it. This seems like something that should be really easy to do but i'm unable to figure this out.
Hello,Is there a way that I can open context-sensitive web help in a new normal tab instead of having it as a pop-up so we can get rid of the pop up blocker?Thank you,
RoboHelp 11 on a Windows 7 machineI have a small project that I put down in August and just picked up again today. The only changes I made today were a background color in the selected layout and adding browsers to the screen profiles (desktop, mobile, phone). I also changed the pixel sizes of aforementioned screen profiles, and saved, but ultimately thought better of it and changed them back. I don't know if that would have made any difference to this problem. (When I made the size changes RH told me to update the media queries, but I'm not using any... or at least none came up in the Manage Media Queries functionality.)Then I re-generated the output, but the tablet and phone screen sizes are no longer displaying properly when I tested by changing the size of my desktop browser--there is a rather large "dead zone" browser size in which no content is displayed at all (which makes it almost seem like the "responsive" part of the output doesn't work), the internal navigation (forward and
Hello,I have a webhelp generated from Robohelp 10, where I've been running into issues with the search results.I ran a search for "predicate" (without the quotation marks) via the search pane on the left, and got only 1 result. I noticed that "predicat" instead of "predicate" was highlighted in the search result pages. I ran another search for "predicates" (without the quotation marks) and got 6 results. This time "predicate" was highlighted instead in the search result pages.I assume that Robohelp dropped the "s" to encompass both singular and plural version of a search term, but I don't know why: Robohelp drops the "e" in a search term"Robohelp did not return the additional 5 results for "predicate"I checked the search options in the Webhelp Single Source Layout but didn't see any options that would affect the issue above. How do I get it so that my search results are consistent at the very least e..g, "predicates" and "predicate" will return the same number of results?
I have been asked to create context-sensitive help in XML output.Besides the map file, which other files do I need to pass on to the programmers? The output folder contains all type of files, but I don't know which are relevant.Thanks.
ISSUE 1 - Renaming the project:My coworker is having to copy over some old projects... and rename them. When I go to rename a project, in RH 10, it seems to work fine using the "Rename" option via the File menu: a TOC, index, glossary, etc. are created with the new name, . However, when my coworker (also using RH10) renames a project, NOTHING else is getting renamed... I have watched her do it... and she's not doing anything differently from the way I do it. So she has to go thru and manually change the associated project files manually.I suggested that she apply the patches I applied some weeks ago, but when she tries to up date the 10.1 patch, it's refusing to do so stating that she needs to reinstall RH... which she has done. She uninstalled, rebooted, re-installed, rebooted, then tried the patch again, but it is still refusing to run.... and the renaming process is still long and drawn out for her. ISSUE 2 - renaming a topic:While i can successfully re
I would like to add a print icon in the Webhelp layout.I use Robohelp 11 - HTMLHelpSomeone who know if this is possible?
How do I import a project, which is created with RoboHelp 7 into RoboHelp 11?
Hello everyone!I'm not sure where exactly to look for an answer, so here is what happens. My version is RoboHelp 9.0.1.262.Documentation department writes help, then it is translated and then I need to compile translated online help. I take translated folders and files (*.htm, *.hhc, and *.hhk) and drop them in an English project. I then open RH, open the project, verify that I see translated files by randomly clicking around. Then I attempt to generate target which is WebHelp. Under Content Categories I change language to correct target and click on Save and Generate. RH goes on with its normal procedure:- starting compilation- clearing output folder- preparing to create WebHelp- preparing files for WebHelp- Copying file- Updating filesAnd this is where it crashes.I know why it crashes - most likely translators have not added or messed up some tags. What I want to know is where exactly it happens, i.e. what file. If I know the first file or list of files, I can fix them. I just don't k
Hi all,I need to index an application with two parts (Manager and General) The application pages and tasks differ for about 30% of the index entries. Thanks for any ideas. In webhelp, can you publish two indexes and let the user choose an index to view? If not, here's two methods I can think of. If you haven't had other experiences, which of these do you prefer? Method 1: Separate the 30% by (application part). Works, but lengthy.add students (Manager)add students (General)Method 2: Separate the 30% by user section. Easier to view as a list, but not useful when searched.Manager tasks (see also General tasks):add students add teacherstransfer students(etc)General tasks (see also Manager tasks):add students edit studentstransfer studentsThank you!
RoboHelp 11 Webhelp output The help system was working fine except for some 'missing' images. I solved the issue and then generated /published again. When I view help system from the link in our UI, the TOC, Index, Glossary and Search areas are displayed. I can view Glossary and Index entries. But when I try to open a topic from the TOC all I 'see' is the main page from our UI.Any help is appreciated.Mary
Hi,I work with RoboHelp 10. I generate and upload the webhelp, and I want to check it on Internet Explorer9. However, many times IE9 shows the old version of the webhelp, that was uploaded earlier. Even after deleting cache and history and restarting my computer, it won't show the new version.Any idea why IE does not refresh to the new version? Doesn't it detect the changes to the files?Thank you,Daniel
We are considering upgrading from RH 9 to RH 11. We currently have a substantial help section created in RH9. Will they convert easily to RH11? What issues should we be concerned about?
I'm using the html editor in RH11. I'm trying to wrap a list item in a span tag, but every time I save, the span tag gets moved inside the list tag. Is there away to turn off this auto-correct?
Hi,I finally learned how to used the twisties (I kept looking for show/hide functionality) but I can't seem to figure out where to indent the text that accompanies the twistie. I am creating an FAQ section for Responsive HTML5, and my first question is too long. I have gone through default.css (which is what I am using - I have not created any other style sheet) and layout.css - I cannot figure out where this can be fixed. I have not used any inline styles with the Drop-down hotspot style nor the 10pt_Arial style, which is the paragraph style I am using with the hotspot style.I have checked all the Media on default.css to see if I can fix this for the Arial_10pt style and the Drop-down hotspot style, but I can't find an option to indent the question text.Could someone please tell me how to indent this text? Thanks so much!Pam
I posted this yesterday and for the life of me I cannot find my post today. Anyway, I have two questions now:Does anyone know how to incorporate a hanging indent in text that uses the Drop-down hotspot style? [using Responsive HTML5] I cannot locate in the stylesheet where I can make the blue text below have a hanging indent.2. How can I apply a style to the Drop-down Text Editor, aside from using inline styles? I've tried using the Drop-down text style - but this style will not accept my formatting changes (I've changed the style for all Media and it still will not accept the new font size - I've also checked HTML Editor. My style changes are there but they will not apply), nor will it apply to the text in the Drop-down Text Editor. Thanks for your help,Pam
Hello,We're using RH11 and the javascript API to show our context sensative help pages, we recently upgraded from RH10 and now the help window always opens to the default topic instead of the specified one. From script we call RH_ShowHelp(0, helpPath + "/CSH/iSupportHelp.htm>SecondaryWindow", HH_HELP_CONTEXT, mapId);That call generates this url and opens it in a new window: http://localhost/rep/Help/CSH/iSupportHelp.htm#<id=16>>wnd=SecondaryWindowThe new window then does further processing and gets the final URL of: http://dev-anelson/Rep/Help/CSH/iSupportHelp.htm#<id=16%3E%3Ewnd%3DSecondaryWindow&t=Overview%2FiSupport_Overview.htm which is our default topic, not the topic mapped to id/number 16.My best guess is that the issue appears to be inside loadcsh.js which tries to load a topic based on the url parameter "rhmapno" and "rhmapid", which are not used anywhere else in robohelp scripts, after those both fail to find the topic, it falls back to the default.I can get
