I'd like to have a single topic that is a result of importing a word document that has a TOC (heading 1 through 4) structure. I tried importing the document through the import feature, but I can only replicate the Word's TOC by splitting it into topics and then using the "Map Word styles to TOC Hierarchy" feature. Yes, that creates the exact Word's TOC, but it also generates many topic files. I don't want that, because the problem with that is that my Word document has heading 2 directly after heading 1, and heading 3 directly after heading 2 with no text in between. And that's in many places. So when an end-user clicks on one of the TOCs he might only see a heading text, which will confuse him. In that case he should see recursively all the way to the first non empty text style, yet I reckon that is not possible, so I can rather have a single word document displayed as a whole and navigate it through the TOC's #id maybe? I tried experimenting with MadCap Flare and it, in fact, has thi
Hello, I use RoboHelp 2020. (Previously I used FrameMaker 2019 and RoboHelp Classic 2019. Then, in RoboHelp 2020, I upgrade the RoboHelp Classic 2019 project to rhpj. I also add new topics directly into RoboHelp 2020.) When clicking a context-sensitive Help button from Frameless output, I expect the Help to jump directly to the page to which it is mapped. Instead, it jumps to the Start page of the project (the Welcome page), then jumps again to the expected page. How do I get the Help to jump directly to the expected page? Thank you!
Hello, Is it possible to publish Frameless output right from RoboHelp to GitLab? We are in need of an easier way to upload our Frameless Output for Online Help to a GitLab repository. Currently, we are being told to simply use the Command Line, but this is not possible in our department given our lack of knowledge on the process and support.
I'm re-trialing RH 2020, Update 7. I have a Word document I generated. According to RH, the output generates successfully. But when I open the .docx file, I get this "Word found unreadable content..." message: If I click Yes, I can then see the contents inside Word. The filename is named Document1. From a cursory view of the document, it looks like all the expected topics are there. Curiously, at the end of the log, there are some validation errors: Merging 10_view_topics/Viewing_Path_Lines.htm... Merging 10_view_topics/Viewing_CAD_Import_History.htm... Converting mergedHTML.htm Error 1 Description: The element has unexpected child element 'http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/wordprocessingml/2006/main:pgSz'. I'm re-trialing RH 2020, Update 7.In RH 2017 there's a handy Batch Generate feature where you can select a bunch of outputs to generate in a few clicks as shown here:Does RH 2020 have such a thing? I checked the anemic help they provide and don't see this option anywhere. Anyway, I'm testing generating 36+ presets and don't relish clicking build 36 times. Not a huge deal, but still...
RoboHelp 2020 provides several skins for Frameless output, but are there any functional differences among the various these skins (aside from TopNavigation) ? I'm just wondering what the reason might be to start with, say, Studio rather than Orange, when I'm going to have to redo the fonts and colors to meet corporate branding requirements. I can't really tell much difference in the output. (Apologies if this has been asked and answered; I couldn't find it anywhere.) And, related question (I think I know the answer but I'll ask anyway): Is there any kind of reference information that explains how all the settings in a skin are used? The Skin Editor is good as far as it goes, but it doesn't show every possibility for customization (maybe that's not even possible anyway).
I insert bookmark to a heading in a topic to link from a page to that heading. It happens in many topics that bookmarks are added automatically to every headings repeatedly. I had this problem since I started using Robohelp8 and it is continiued up to now with Robohelp17.Here is a screenshot of repeated bookmarks. Any help is appreciated
I have been maintaining an RH project for several years without a problem. I'm currently running RH2020. I updated some content in the project yesterday and then published the project as Webhelp. When I view the output, I get a message that the Webhelp is out of date even though I just re-published it. Sure enough, when I view the output, my recent changes aren't visible. When I look at the project source files, my changes are definitely there, but when I look at the published files, I can see that none of the files I've edited have an updated modified date. In contrast, all the folders of the published project do have updated modification dates. I have not had this problem in the past. I did get a new computer recently, so it is possible a project setting got lost in the transition. In particular, I noticed that the first time I tried to publish yesterday I got an error that my Publish Profile was missing. I haven't seen that before, but I added one with an Upload Location
Hello The Community, My robohelp version is 2015 but I have the same problem with 2017 and 2019.I have a word and I create a RH project with importing a word.1) When I'm clicking in Modify word button (mapping style) to modify RHStyleMapping.css, i have no imported style.2) I tried to cut my word and this time, word style are imported.3) But word generation failed, I have no output files. How can i debug import steps ? Thanks
Using RH 2020, have always wonder what the "Include Index" checkbox is for when publishing as Responsive HTML5. What happens when it's checked? What happens when it's not checked? We have always had it checked in our output. Thank you all so much.
I just upgraded my projects to RH 2020 Update 6. Using RH 2019, I had set up my images to display as thumbnails in my Responsive HTML5 output (Indigo layout). For each image, RH generated a separate _th file that it displayed as the thumbnail. With RH 2020, there are two thumbnail options in the preset: Create Thumbnails for Images and Style Existing Images as Thumbnails. I have generated the output both ways and I don't see any difference. I expected "Create Thumbnails for Images" to generate the duplicate _th files as in RH 2019, but I don't find any such files in output folders. I can't image what it means by using "style" as a verb here. And yet either way, it works. What is the difference between these two options and why would I choose one over the other? I did look this up in the RoboHelp user guide, but it just explains them using the same words that are on the screen.
I have W10, 64 Bit, RoboHelp 2020.7.46 I just upgraded an old project and that all worked OK. When I now run RoboHelp 2020, the software runs and I can click on items, but nothing happens. For example, I click on File New Project and nothing happens. Same is true if I try to open a current project either from the Start Screen or Recent Projects. I have reinstalled a few times. I have not uninstalled and reinstalled yet but this has been happening multiple times and I do not want to have to uninstall / reinstall each times it happens. I did notice RoboHelp 2020 is running 8 times. I have tried running as an Admin, but no change. I have renamed these to OLD but not change.C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe RoboHelp 2020_OLDC:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\RoboHelp\\2020_OLD Any suggestions? Shawn
I am struggling with autonumbering for PDF output. Is there a way to set the prefix size to autofit the size of the text in it? I tried setting it to auto, but it puts the heading over the number if it doesn't have a physical size listed. The user documentation says the levels each inherit from the level above, but I am not seeing that happen. My <h2> and <h3> headings aren't even getting any numbering consistently. It just pops in and out. Before I started trying out autonumbering, I was using Chapters and Topic names for my ToC. Am I correct in assuming I need to reformat all my headings so <h1> is only Chapter names and <h2> is topic names and so on? Random question- Why does the book.css show 6 levels of ToC styling when you can only have 2 levels in printed output?
I have a frameless output with 10 tiles currently. In the ToC I have 12 tiles. Is there a way to increase/control the number of tiles displayed on the landing page?
I'm re-trialing RH 2020, Update 7.How do I add a glossary into my printed output? There's something missing or a disconnect in information:RoboHelp's own Help file here https://helpx.adobe.com/robohelp/using/glossary.html states: In the Output Presets panel, select your desired output preset from the given options. You can choose from output presets options such as Responsive HTML5, Mobile App, Frameless, eBook, and more.Select the Content tab.In the Glossary field, select your desired glossary file from the drop-down list. However, there is no such Glossary field in the output preset: What am I missing? Thanks in advance.
I have a skin I customized in RH 2019.0.14. When I try to import it into RH 2020.7.46, I get an error: I can't find any instructions on how to perform this upgrade. I spent quite a while getting this skin exactly the way I want it. I'd hate to have to recreate it from scratch. Can anyone point me to the procedure / tell me how to perform this upgrade? Thank you.
I just upgraded to RoboHelp 2020. I imported an old project and under my assets and css folders, I had multiple nested assets and css folders / files. Using the RoboHelp Unused file report, I was able to see what files were not being used and clean up the structure. My question is how is the structure supposed to work. In below, when I add a new topic (!!!!!- Added Manual Test) and imported an HTML file (!!!!! - Import Test), the files are at the same level as the folders (e.g., snippets). The topics from the previous version of RoboHelp (e.g., Application Settings) look to be one level higher. As I have multiple RoboHelp files to convert, what is correct? If the default should be as the manual file test and import test, I can highlight all the topics and move them under assets to be the same as the manual and import test. That would be one less step when adding / importing files. I just want to be sure of the structure before converting other
I just upgraded my first project to RH 2020. In the short term, I want to reproduce the Responsive HTML5 output using the customizations that were made to the Indigo layout in RH 2019 Classic. (I didn't do the customizations myself.) All in all, the output doesn't look too bad. The upgrade process did pick up our custom icons, but when I look in RH, I can't find where they are specified. For example, we had custom book and topic icons for the landing page, and although they show up in the output, they aren't sized quite right. We also had custom icons for favorites and the browse sequence, but these also seem a little bit off. For example, the "Next" function in the browse sequence is mapped to the Previous arrow, and the "Previous" function has no icon but does work if you hover in the place where it should be. In RH, I don't see anywhere in the Skin editor to make customizations. Where should I be looking? I'm using RH 2020 Update 6.
Hi All. When creating a responsive output from RoboHelp 2019 Classic and viewing on different devices, the TOC fails to show on iOS. Has anyone encountered this and is there a solution? Thanks.
Hello everyone, I'm a new born user of Robohelp. With my comapny we decided to use Robohelp for managing user manual.Iwould therefore need to know if there is a way to manage, in a single TOC, several manuals, avoiding that the updating of one of them causes the mismatch of the others: Infact I noticed that the modification in the " Content" panel does not propagates automatically in TOC, so for each modification, I would have to autogenerate the TOC from the beginning, having to adjust the structure of all the documents from time to time.Is there any way to avoid this?If this is not possible, is it possible, by creating as many projects as there are manuals, perhaps merge them into a single master project, recalling the TOC of each, so as to avoid that the modification of one involves the mismatch of the order of the others? Thanks so much!
I have RoboHelp Version 2020.7.46. (Not Classic) When I try to use the Mini TOC or any link at all, the links do not work when I publish the file, either locally or to SharePoint. They stopped working a few weeks ago. I even deleted the Mini TOC and created the links using hyperlinks and bookmarks but no luck.
Hello, I am using Robohelp 2019. I am importing the htm files manually for project conversion from Robohelp 2019 classic to Robohelp 2019 non classic.I would like to know if there is a way to import the htm files from the classic version to the non-classic version using a script.
I am using RoboHelp 2017 with an established project and .css file. I know this isn't the most up-to-date version of RoboHelp but it is rarely used any longer and it still works for our purposes. Mainly I make changes to existing topics as needed (very infrequently) and update the Copyright year in the footer each year. This year when I made the Copyright change (simply opened the file, changed the year from 2021 to 2022), recompiled and published to the server, issues appeared with things like parens, copyright symbols, dashes, apostrophies, etc. When I view the project locally, I don't see these characters. Any ideas?
Hello Community,I just finished off the Test-Version of Adobe RoboHelp and there are 2 things I couldnt solve which are essential for the desicion of purchasing it.1. What we need in our technical documentation is a numbered TOC, which also shows up the Numbers on the TOC Page. For exmple something like this:Im not looking for the explanation now how I can do it, I just need to know is it possible, and if yes, how easy its done? As for me it seemed very complicated to set such "essential" things for a documentation. 2. How are you guys working with pictures? As we used Microsoft Word, we often worked with numbered symbols on pictures to lead the reader to the right section of a picture. The only thing I saw in RoboHelp was the Imagemaps.. but therefore I couldn't make, for example the circle, which links to the topic, to appear on the picture itself, which isnt actually useful as a reader - especially when its a printed document. The Picture below is an example how we used to
We have a frameless project and output. The source files are imported from word document. Does importing word files add anything to the topics that slows down the output?
