When I create a new project with RoboHelo 2017, is there a way to create subdirectories within the project folder for html, css, and images? I had hoped that the folder structure presented in Project Manager was mirrored on disk, but it isn't and now I have one big folder full of html, css, and images. I'm surprised that projects don't have a better default folder structure. Am I missing something here?
To identify the content that is required by tooltips in my application, I currently add tags to the start and end of the relevant content in each Help topic. They use the following format:<tooltipabc></tooltipabc>The relevant tooltip content is picked up by the software, which is great. However, RoboHelp does not like them as it sees them as alien, and highlights them in red. When they are used within tables, they appear to corrupt the table, and make it hard to edit it. My question please: could anyone suggest a way of hiding information within a topic that does not involve using tags such as these? This information should not be visible to the reader, but could hopefully be picked up by the application, which would look for tags beginning with a certain word, for example, "tooltip". I currently use the HTML5 output. I'd really appreciate any advice on this. Thanks.
I'm working on a project that employs user defined variables as placeholders for some unknowns that I'm updating as decisions are made on the content. However, when I compile the HTML, the user variables are not updated in all places. For example, User_Variable_A is updated on 28 of 35 pages. When I open the topic in RoboHelp and check the HTML, the changes I've applied are prevent, the variable is coorectly updated. Consequently, the changes are correctly displayed in Preview mode. HOWEVER, when I compile the project, the HTML doesn't match the project HTML. The compiled HTML includes obsolete content, as if it's reusing an old .htm file. How can I trust that the content RoboHelp is generating actually reflects the changes I'm making? This is extremely frustrating and I sure hope there's a solution for this. I found a topic describing a similar problem eight years ago. Unfortunately there was no definitive solution and "edit the HTML manually" is not acceptable. I can do it, but it's ti
Hi Folks,I'm working with RoboHelp 2017 Update 2. I've had multiple problems with inserting multimedia. We've resorted to attempting to use MP4 because Vimeo and HTML5 both were quite problematic. So, this question is specifically about inserting MP4s.I'm building a project with HTML5 output. When I insert an MP4 video and preview the topic, in the Preview window, the preview of the video has the full screen button on the toolbar. When I compile the project and view it in Chrome or Edge, it does not show the full screen button on the toolbar. When I look at the available playback settings for my video, I have Show player controls set to Always. However, in the Playback group box, I am unable to check the Full Screen check box. The option is greyed out. Does anyone know if there is a way around this problem? If you need more details about the problems that I had with other formats, please let me know. I didn't want to clog up this thread with too much detail about our other failed
I'm using RH2019.0.3 with an Indigo layout. I've set the language to English (US) and updated the English (US) Labels >> ResponsiveHelp >> Copyright label from 2017 to 2019 (along with a few other label updates). However, my output remains at 2017. Am I missing another step? Thank you!
I am working on a project with a collegue, when he generates teh printed documention the images are correctly sized at 100%. When I do the same they are sized at 156%. We are using the same version of RH2017 and Word.
I just downloaded patch 2 to RoboHelp 2019, and my stylesheets are no longer being being applied to the responsive HTML output. They were working in patch 1. Has anyone found a work around for this? Thanks!
I am not at all comfortable with Adobe 2019. It is not easy to create TOCs, get in-built table styles, and many more.Thats why with project that I have created, I want to convert into its previous version and use the classic UI.
When trying to open or save my Help file I receive the following error. In addition, all my topics are showing under the Broken Links folder and not listed under HTML Files (Topics) folder. I've tried restoring each topic, but it doesn't last. I have no idea how this happened. Any thoughts? I have thousands of topics. Do I need to restore all of them and recompile? When I restore a handful it is not being retained. Thanks.
Why there is no auto-numbering option? Is there any CSS present for numbered lists..
I upgraded our Charcoal_Grey Screen Layout to the latest version (that contains the predictive searching) and now when we put a link to a topic in a Word or Excel file the link doesn't work. If we locate the topic and then do a right-click and choose Create Shortcut and add this to our Word or Excel file we get an 404 page not found error. If we copy/paste the topic URL from the URL bar, the link displays the correct topic but it is unformatted and displays without the Screen Layout. We've also experienced the link going to our home page and not the topic we copied the URL for. Is there a way to copy/paste a topic URL into a Word or Excel document so when you click on it, it opens the topic from the TOC and includes the correct formatting. We had no problem with copying/pasting topic URLs before upgrading our Screen Layout to include the predictive search, but now these links no longer work.
Is there a way to change the bookmark settings so that instead of displaying the content at top of the page, the content would display at a specified distance from the top? I have a master page with a permanent display of links to to other topics. The problem is that when I use mini-tocs or bookmarks in the topics using that master, RH will display the content at the top of main content section, where it is obscured by my permanent links display, and requires the user to scroll down a bit to see the first couple of lines of content. Any help to solve this problem will be greatly appreciated. I'm using RoboHelp 2015, HTML5 output.
I have some text that I would like to style as a particular type of ordered list, and have tagged it as <ol> accordingly. But every time I open the topic in Design View, I see it has switched to a bullet instead of an ordered list. When I check HTML, sure enough RoboHelp has replaced my <ol> tag with a <ul> tag. This is ruining my styled text. I'd prefer to keep using the Design View to edit the topic. Is there any way to make RoboHelp leave my markup alone? Here is the HTML...or it should be; for some reason the raw html thingy isn't showing up properly . I will share the CSS tomorrow upon request if it would be helpful to answering the question.<div class="mandreq"> <div class="mandreqtop"> A notice of appeal must... <ol class="mandreqtop"> &n
The help documentation was generated in the classic RoboHelp. I imported into RoboHelp 2019. Now I need to generate the Responsible HTML5 but to be used in a SharePoint and I do not have the option for the settings, to Publish to SharePoint which generates the output as *.aspx instead of *.html.How do I get the option to display? I have read the software help and I cannot find the option.
I'm trying to generate PDF output from RH 2019. I've configured a Cover Page and a Master Page in the Printed Documentation output settings, but when I generate and view the PDF, there is no cover page and the topics don't use the correct master page.Any thoughts?
I just upgraded (on a trial basis) from RH15 to RH19.I updated an existing, fairly small project from the start screen. The dialog told me all went well. I then generated WebHelp output and viewed the output. The TOC shows nicely, but all of the pages show nothing more than a header.Message was edited by Peter Grainge to show full version name. It helps others when they are searching.
I am starting a new project in RH2019 (after several years away from RH) and am curious if there is a way to change the default indent on the paragraph indent? When I click "increase indent" from the General properties panel, it inserts the following in-line style: style="margin-left: 40px"Is there a way to define the default margin to be less/more than 40px?I am asking because, I created my CSS and wanted bulleted/numbered lists to be left aligned with the paragraph text. To create lists that have an indented paragraph in them, instead of creating separate styles for indent levels within multi-level lists, I want to make it easier, and use the built-in indent button. However, to do that, I need to define the in-line indent the indent button creates. (Otherwise, I'll need to use the default list indents to use the indent button). For example...This is a paragraph about the list that follows. The following list uses the default list indents, but imagine if the bullets were flush left inst
Hi,I am generating the output of a project in "Azure" based Responsive HTML5 Output. I will host it using FTP on a public URL. Suppose it will be documents.domain.com/index.htmlBy default, the Web browser is showing the complete URL of the topics in the address bar. For example, following URL is being displayed for "Topic1.htm".documents.domain.com/index.html#t=Topic1.htmFor some reasons, I want to hide the complete URL and show only index.html or the parent domain name for all topics that is: documents.domain.com/index.html or documents.domain.com/For my project, it is essential to use a Responsive HTML5 based Output and Azure is the most suitable theme for our project. Please help me to fix this issue.
I'm generating a Responsive HTML5 Help project. I've got several keywords in my index that don't appear in the compiled Help's index. Can anyone suggest how I can resolve this? Here's a screen shot of my Index pod in RH:Here's a screen shot of the Index in the compiled Help. You can see that DB-APP-H-CH_50549 is not appearing.
Hi all, I am hoping this is just a setting I accidentally checked or a new "feature" but suddenly today when I generated a new responsive HTML5 output in RH2019, it generated fine but any topic I click on in the TOC opens in a new browser window instead of the main help window as it did previously. I have checked all over for something that would account for this, but cannot find something similar to "open help topic in new window" checkbox. I have checked:Project SettingsPreferencesCSSMaster PagesResponsive HTML5 SettingsIt does this in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.Anyone know what I need to do to change this back to opening in the same help window? Thanks!Joel
Hi all,We are trying to find a way to integrate xsl-fo support in robohelp classic 2019. Is there a procedure to follow thus we can support xslfo in robohelp for publishing and html production. What we are thinking from our part is an xml import -> (transform) -> xsl-fo ready -> generate different sources(pdf, html, etc.)Kind Regards,Sergiu
I have web-based help (HTML5 responsive with RH 2017) and one of the TOC links points to a non-RH system, like this:Is there a way to open that link inside of a new browser tab using a TOC RH property or attribute? Or do I have to do an actual .htm with a javascript redirect?I tried adding a target="_blank" attribute, but that only works on .htm pages, not inside xml like the .hhc is.
From what I can tell, Robohelp (in any version) does not have inbuilt code formatting.I'll be using the Robohelp 2019 version and am looking for help on how to integrate some syntax highlighter and some code formatting. Any help?
Hello, all, I'm hoping those of you with some experience using RoboHelp 2019 can answer a quick question for me. Does RoboHelp 2019 support Context Sensitive Help (CSH)? I cannot find anything close to the Output Setup pod that was used in previous versions of the application, or really anything alluding to CSH in the 2019 version. CSH is is vital to my RoboHelp purposes. If anyone can provide some insight on this issue, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
When we publish a merged project to our RoboServer, we're noticing that entries from child projects added to the merged TOC in the Parent project are not showing in the TOC. And we've tested this using Internet Explorer and Chrome with the same results. Note, even though the entries for the child projects aren't displaying in the Parent merged TOC, the files from the child projects (i.e., HTM and image files) are being published to the server. Also, if I open the the published help through Windows Explorer on the server, the TOC displays correctly. i.e., the child projects display correctly in the merged TOC.We are using RH 2019 Classic with the latest patches and publishing to RoboServer 10 with Update 1.Any ideas on why this might happen.
