We are evaluating the Robohelp 2017 release. As we are a government contractor, we must be sure that our output is 508 compliant. We like the Responsive HTML output, though that is not a requirement and I'm wondering now if we will have to go with WebHelp. We cannot seem to test that our Responsive HTML output is 508 compliant. The Wave tool on Chrome doesn't work on it. Adobe says "The 508 compliant HTML5 layouts let you create content that is accessible to all users" but we simply haven't been able to prove this. As of RoboHelp 2015, Adobe responded in one of these threads that it was not 508 compliant. I assume this changed in 2017 but need to be sure. Any recommendations? We could try to confirm that our alt text is associated with our images, at minimum.Message was edited by: Jeff Coatsworth fixed typo - no RH2016 exists
We are using RoboHelp15 and RoboServer9 currently. A few weeks ago, the RoboServer had to be moved to an AWS environment. We have help projects on the server back to 2011. Some of the older versions stopped working for our customers after the move. It is confusing to me that some versions of the help work, but not others for our customers. NetOps is pointing to the new server to redirect.Do you have any suggestions on troubleshooting this issue?Things I have tried:Generating a new build to the server for a project that is not working. Didn't help.Noticed that in the older builds, the project was opening to the topic MySurveysGrid, but with the move changed to Getting Started topic, which is what we use in our newer projects. When I generate to the server now, even though the default topic is MySurveysGrid, it changed to Getting Started which changes the URL of course. NetOps is telling me that it looks like when I generate a build it is affecting all
When I try to open .XPJ file from RoboHelp (version 8), it asks for user credentials to be entered. What exactly are these credentials and where to get one.
[I have a merged layout (currently 30 projects merged) using RoboHelp 15, MSIE 11, Windows 7 ENT.] (I searched to find a discussion about this but didn’t easily find one, my apologies if this a redundant stream.) The topic pane shows blank for a child project (but, TOC displays correctly). I think this is due to a mistake where the source folder and the output folder temporarily had different names, and guessing the parent project can’t handle the folder name mismatch. So, my guess is that publishing the child project temporarily fixes the problem, but the permanent fix is to delete the merged child, then re-merge. I’ll post my results tomorrow, I hope. Make sense? Has anyone had the same or similar issue? Or does something else cause this issue? thnx
I would like to change some TOC links without having to republish the whole project, but I am having a hard time finding the correct file to edit. Can someone tell me what is the name of the TOC file/s where I can alter the link?
I'm working in RH 2017 responsive HTML layout. I successfully tested using the external content search function on an external website. I used three key words as a test. The search using each key word resulted in the website. When I clicked the search result, the new window opened and displayed the expected external web site. My question is:Is there a way to have the key words used in the search highlighted on the external website, like we see during any other key word search?First time post, so I hope I was clear enough on my discussion. Thanks for your time.Jason
How do you remove the search field from the function bar? I don’t want it in both the navigation pane and the function bar.Output settings for WebHelp include Navigation, where you can select whether to include Search Input Field in Toolbar. I haven’t found a similar setting for HTML5 Responsive output.
Hi,I frequently do find and replace operations in my html code in RoboHelp. I have noticed that when I do a find and replace in the code for all files in a folder, RH sometimes breaks lines randomly, which creates an error. For example, it may change: </tr>to </tr>This type of error is revealed only when the topic is displayed in the browser after output is generated (previewed topic looks ok).It also sometimes breaks url's: "../../folder1/folder2/folder3/filename.html"becomes "../../folder1/folder2/folder3/filename.html"These errors show up as broken links in the project pane. This may happen 3 or 4 times in a few dozen files, ranging in size from 50 - 2500 lines. Most files are fine, but a handful will have 1 or 2 errors. It is time-consuming to find and fix all of these. Validating the files recognizes that there is an error when it involves a tag, but it never takes me t
Hi,RoboHelp 10 is installed on my machine. When I generate the WebHelp output, the output file does not open in Chrome. Please guide. Thanks!
I have upgraded my Robo10 project to the RH2019 project. All things go well. Then I created an H5 preset, and set some settings, then clicked generating, but after several hours, the process is still continuing. I don't know why.Ps: there's another problem when I upgraded the project. If I first open RH2019 classic, and upgrade my robo10 project, after the upgrade finished, then I open RH2019 to upgrade the classic project, all things in the new 2019 project are OK. If I directly use RH2019 to upgrade my robo10 project, many files just under the root project are missing, like those .hhc, and some pictures.
I just installed it and upgraded one of our Online Help projects. It crashes when I try to do pretty much anything. Often when I click on something or select something from a menu, nothing happens. I rename things and the name doesn't change... Is it just me? I can't imagine it's in a usable state for many people like this.
HiWhile generating printed doc for RoboHelp 11, I am getting the following error.Any suggestions?ThanksMeenu
Recently I have installed Robohelp 2019, but I am not able to generate Webhelp or any output. I am using IE 11.When I was using 2017 version, I was able to generate instantly.

Hi guys , i have a problem with a project that RoboHelp doesn't compile. This Project is the biggest we have , and when i compile the CHM file RH don't compile and don't create the file CHM.In particular RH compile and when arrive and the end don't create the CHM file. The process string are :Starting compilation...Compiling C:\FAQ\!chm_tmp_folder_0\NC-Contabilità.chm...Preparing to create HTMLHELP...Clearing output folder...Preparing files for HTML Help...Copying file...Updating files...Finished preparing in 144 sec(s)Initilizing compiler...Generating HTMLHELP (14.0.2.016)...Updating Topics...Updating 00_GestioneContabile.htm...and RH go ahead with the another files htm we have but and the end TH says :Warning : The Size of stop file has to be limited in 512 bytes...C:\FAQ\!chm_tmp_folder_0\NC-Contabilità.hhpFinished compiling HTMLHELP in 179 sec(s)Compilation Complete. But RH don't compile all the files and he doesn't make the output files. This project is the hugest that we have , with
I'm trying to create thumbnails for our screen shots. I followed the instructions that Peter Grainge has on his website at RoboHelp Tour. I did notice at the bottom of the Peter's page he says there is an expand.png and a modal-close.png file in the layouts folder. I cannot locate these files. I used the same settings that Peter used on his page for the Thumbnail style, applied it to the graphic and then produced the RHTML5 including the thumbnail style (and size of 100x100) to the on the first settings page of the Output SSL. I don't know if I am missing a step or doing something wrong. Do the expand.png and modal-close.png files get created when you create thumbnails or are these in the Layout folder already? Am I missing a step or files or using an incorrect process?
I must be missing something: how do I delete *all* the map IDs (context sensitive help folder in the output setup pod) without having to *individually select the ID, press 'remove map ID', and answer 'Yes' to 'are you sure...' dialog*. I know this must be possible otherwise the thousands of map IDs I have will take hours to delete manually (way faster to just re-create the entire project from scratch). I want to re-generate (via automap) after changing the starting number of prefix...I'm working with RH2019 *Classic* (since non-classic is incredibly broken) and I'm sure I was able to do this in both RH2015/RH2017 by selecting all of the map IDs and then deleting (and only answering 'yes' to the 'are you sure...' prompt once ).Thanks in advance.
Hi..I'm trying to integrate 2 different responsive HTML5 outputs in our application as per the application theme selected by user, i.e. dark and light in my case.I've created and published 2 different outputs for dark and light theme in RH2017. Currently only single output has been implemented and calls are made by using rhmapid. Is there any way to conditionally call different published outputs as per the theme selected by appending the custom parameters to the calling URL, for ex. appending url with something like &theme=dark/light. Or anybody knows any other ways to do it. Also do I need to maintain the separate files for both the outputs always, isn't there a way to use the same files for both the themes just by using separate CSS files?
I'm using rhmapid to open my application's context sensitive help at page and panel-level, i.e. .../index.htm#rhmapid=<Map_ID>. We're calling it in a separate target window in our application. It's Responsive HTML output generated in Indigo layout through RH2017. We're facing below 2 issues while opening the webhelp in the target window:1) The layout frame is not appearing and only topic window is shown without search, sidebar and header panes. If the same URL,i.e. .../index.htm#rhmapid=<Map_ID>, is hit in the browser window then it is correctly appearing in complete layout with search, sidebar and header panes. If we hit URL as .../index.htm i.e. without rhmaid then the help is correctly appearing with the complete layout frame around it in our application. 2) On opening page-level help, it first opens the default/index page, then navigates to required mapped page with lag of few seconds in between. Is there any other way to call help with MapIDs other than rhmapid method?
Hi to everyone, with RH2017 when using IE11 the TOC in merged help was not synchronized when using the browse sequence, Breadcrumbs or links. This was / is a problem, cause so many large companies still use IE11.We now were really happy thst this bug(?) is fixed with the new RH 2019 Classic version. But now suddenly the highlight search results does not work in all browsers!Does anyone have the same experiences?Do we have to change settings or any other solutions?Kind regardsSteffen
Hi Everyone, I'm having trouble reconciling my topics from Author View and Preview View.I want breaks between my paragraphs. In Author view I accomplished this by clicking enter twice and it looks correct, like this:The trouble is that in Preview View, RH is removing these breaks. It looks lite this:Why!?! How can I fix this? Is there an element in the css that I haven't correctly specified?Yes, I have saved project. Yes, I tried a reboot. There are not yet enough resources available for me to trouble shoot this on my own and I really appreciate the community support.Thank you!
I'm running RH2017, using the Responsive HTML5 output for multiple devices. Is there a way to get the Go to top button found in the lower-right of Responsive HTML5 output to display in non-Desktop outputs? It appears you can only set it for desktop output Content (Desktop) from the Layout Customization dialog box but is there a way to get it to display in any output format? We have a javascript alternative but just wondering if the existing method is available somehow already. Thanks!
I have a printed documentation from RH 2017 where the sections have tables that flow into multiple pages. Some tables are appearing properly some tables if they end at the start of the page the next section starts on the next page. I want it to be continuous.I have unchecked the option start section on new page when generating the printed documentation output. Also, I have a snippet at the end of each table that says Back to chapter 1, with a hyperlink to chapter 1. would the snippet be causing these breaks?Any idea how to fix this?
RH 2019 enhances the Responsive HTML5 outputs from RH 2017. It also enhances the web help output in RH 2019 from RH 2017.Web help output in RH 2019 also makes it possible to now customize it.The question in that case is that, if moving to RH 2019 what is better for an online help? Responsive HTML5 or the good old Web Help?Which one has greater and better advantages and controls if one has to make a decision to pick one of the online help output in RH 2019.
Hello, team:I want to customize the skin, like Azure, or Indigo provided in RH2019 to reach my expectation. Here is what I want, add some menu tabs on the headbar under the title, like "Get Started", "For Users", "For Administrators" ; hide the sidebar when it displays the home page. But there isn't any guide I can start with. Could anyone tell me where to start?Best regard!
