We use a Master Page header to export the Title field as a Heading 1 style. This creates a pseudo Heading 1 component in each topic's header with the title of the topic automatically configured. This effectively removes the Heading 1 tags from each topic. Re-purposing the HTML file elsewhere is causing problems because it contains no Heading 1 tags. Does anyone know how to globally reverse this feature i.e. put back all the Heading 1 components including their system field/variable?
Hi,I currently use the RoboHelp HTML edition version 11. Previously we used version 7 and my client was comfortable with the Search being in alphabetical order. Is there anyway i can remove the Rank feature and have my Search alphabetically?Regards,Swati
I'm compiling a couple of projects using a batch script in which I invoke RHLC.EXE.A start page (startseite.htm) has the following mark up in it:...<body><?rh-placeholder type="header" ?><h1>...</h1>...RHLC.EXE throws a warning:The HTML tag "?rh-placeholder type="header" ?" is not a valid HTML tag (it does not begin with an alphanumeric character). The error is not visible in RH9 itself (in the output window). Could be that the HTMLHELP Preprocessor 9.0.1.262 isremoving this tag?--ChristophLet me add another thought since noone has answered yet: is it a good idea at all to use rhlc.exe to compile CHMs in batch mode? The speedup advantage is significant that's for sure (over point and click), but can I catch conditional build tags at all with this method? Or can I also invoke the preprocessor and pass it conditional build DEFINES?
Hello all,I want to create map file in my robohelp project. I am using Robohelp 11 and my layout is responsive HTML5! In project set up pod I created a Map File, then select all folders and did Auto-mapping. It automatically assigned Map# to each topic and assigned Map IDs to Topics. Finally in responsive HTML5 properties I selected my Map File under Content category and generated the project, but it seems it's not mapping. It only opens the default topic for all topics!!! Am I missing anything? Could anyone help me?Thanks,Parya
I am using RoboHelp 2017 with a Parent and three child projects which have just been upgraded from RoboHelp 11, and wondered if anyone can help with the following problems using the Responsive HTML5 layout.I need to change the screen sizes at which the output changes between Desktop/Tablet/Mobile. I understand this is simple to do in version 2015, but cannot see how to do this in version 2017.When opening the Index.html file in one of the Child projects, the black vertical bar between the TOC and the topic is not displayed, and the width of the TOC cannot be resized. In the Master and other child projects, this bar is displayed, and the TOC can be resized. I would appreciate some advice on how to fix this as it is causing problems linking to the Help from the application. The Responsive HTML5 layout preview looks fine. Please could you explain how to turn off the display for the Index and Glossary. I understand this is simple to do in version 2015, but cannot see how to do this in
1) How can I instantly alter the topics, after generating/updating a Word-document? I tried this with no luck, see the results in my experiment.2) How can I make sure that my ExtendScript is running only on the Word-Documents that 'Generate or Update'? We will make projects with 20 or more linked Word-documents. So if one changes we won't run the script on all.Experiment:I have a script as following.Searching all topics within a project => cleanup all inline styling/topic.That works fine.I registered the script as an event. (Event: postworddocupdate) I assumed that this event would trigger from the moment a generate or an update, of a Word-document, has finished. Meaning the topics are made. Why using this option:We put multiple Word-documents in one project. We do this with a link, without making a copy of the Word-document.I linked 2 Word-documents; - Doc_A.docx - Doc_B.docxI 'Generate' the Word-doc
Hi,I have recently installed Adobe RoboHelp 2015 (which I assume is version 12) on my new laptop. I have RoboHelp 11 on my old machine and I need to import the two projects that I have there to my RoboHelp 12.Can you please advice me on how to do this? I have zipped both my projects but it is not possible to import zip files. I have also unpacked them and navigated to the unpacked folder, but again nothing happened...I have generated ICSkin and WebHelp ouptuts before I zipped them.Thank you very much and best regards,Ivelina
Got an error from an HTM chapter page in a RH9 project. Though the page displays fine later in the generated CHM I seed an error in the help compiler log:HHC3004: Warning: Some_filename.htm : The HTML tag ?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?" is not a valid HTML tag (it does not begin with an alphanumeric character).Tried already with or without BOM header. Got no idea why just this file? We have hundreds of HTMs. All of them have this header - btw, is it RH adding these headers? The only thing I did was renaming the file (since it had a blank in the basename of the filename. I renamed it in the project, resulting first in a tagging of the file with a red X. Then, after renaming the file outside of RH (in the filesystem) the situation got repaired. Don't know whether the error HHC3004 only appeared after this action or if it had been there before.Anyway, how can I get rid of this obscure error?--Christoph
HTML5 Layout Customization - Ultimate Goal, Be Like Chrome HelpWorking on a new template for our division's many Help systems, using HTML5 Responsive Layout (Azure). I customized the template somewhat, using the Output Setup. When I presented the draft template to management, I was told it didn't look modern enough. As a reference, they want me to shoot for something more like Chrome's Help.First question, is how to switch the navigation pane (TOC, Index, Search, Glossary) to display on the right, instead of the left.I saw something that said this was an option for left-right language systems, but I don't see it as an out of the box option in RH2015.If someone tells me it is an option in RH2017, I will be eternally grateful! If it isn't available as a standard option, any suggestions for how to do it? We are already planning top switch to one of the new layouts so we can use the landing page / search features. Is anyone designing Help to be displayed like Chrome does it - see here:
Hi,I am running RoboHelp 2015 on Windows 10 (64-bit). I have Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 (32-bit) installed on my system. Although Responsive HTML 5 is my project's primary output, I need to output it in Word format so several people can review and mark it up using Word's reviewing tools. (Those folks are not RoboHelp users.) However, when I select the "Printed Documentation" output option, RoboHelp displays this message:As I said, Word 2016 is already installed on my system. Is RH 2015 not compatible with Word 2016, or is there something I can do to point RH to my copy of Word?I realize this question has been posted several times in the past, but they are several years old and the fix for my situation may be different now. Thanks for understanding!Tim HuddlestonCharlotte, NC
We have Robohelp version 11.0.2.240 and need to know if it supports Windows 10. I cannot find the release date for our product in the about Robohelp menu. Note that we have a special standalone configuration, so maybe that is why the date does not show.
Hi all,I am currently working with my software architect to find the best way to toggle between different languages in the same help site using Responsive HTML. He did some research and found this Generating help in multiple locales using Adobe RoboHelp 10 | ADOBE GLOBALIZATION BLOG I proposed using Conditional Tags in my Help content, and filter between En, De and ES. I assigned the different languages at topic level within each book (Book 1 contains EN, Book 2 German etc) for each different languages, i.e. Book/Topic - DE, Book, Topic - En etc. And then create Conditional Tags based on the languages. I outputted this and seems OK, but the filters are kind of ugly and I just wanted to know if there is a more effective way using Responsive HTML?Thanks and kind regards,Luke Pivac
Is there any way to remove or change the words "Welcome to our Help Center" and "what can we help you with today?" in the Indigo layout? I can't seem to figure out how to do this! I am hoping I can modify this wording, otherwise this great layout is limiting.
Hi,When I create a PDF document for review in Robohelp (2015)v only the tracked changes show and not the comments. Previously I could view the comments too.
In Chrome, when I try to print a help topic from the screen (using R click > Print or CTRL+Print), Print Preview opens with all three frames showing and the page cut off more or less where the screen ends. No matter how long the topic is, I get one page with one screen's worth of content in the print preview. If I scroll to the middle of the topic, that's the part that appears on the page in the Print Preview, and when I print, that's all that prints. (It cuts off the TOC too if I have everything expanded past the bottom of the screen). This does not happen in FF or IE.I added a Print button in the header, but I would still like to fix this issue. Any ideas? Thanks.
Hi all,I am facing an issue. After generating my project I find out that I lost Index, glossary and print images, both core image and hover!! I am going to layout setting and under Function bar I'm adding images again but nothing happening. It looks I have all default images in my project folder but they just can not pull up.Could you please help me about it.Thanks!!
Hi all,Question: How can I incrementally add child projects to a master project without having to republish the master project and each and every child project each time?(I'm concerned with steps #4 and #5 in my list below). I should add that my master project will be essentially infinite, so the number of child projects will eventually number into the dozens or hundreds. I'm outputting to merged responsive HTML5.Thanks!MarkLet's say I have:A) A Master Project published to a serverB) Child Project 01 through Child Project 05 have merged project placeholders in the TOC of the Master Project C) Each of Child Project 01 through Child Project 05 is published into their respective mergedProject folders in the output files of the Master Project.Example:Master Project (published)Child 1 (published)Child 2 (published)Child 3 (published)Child 4 (published)Child 5 (published)Now let's say that later, I want to add Child 6, Child 7, and Child 8 to the Master Project. As I u
Hi folks,Using RH 11.Has anyone successfully implemented Google's 'Custom Search' in their HTML5 Help project, replacing RH's supplied search solution?...and if so, how on Earth?I'm not talking about using Google analytics, but 'custom search' (Add search to your site - Custom Search Help)Google's page on this says If you've chosen the two column or two page layout option, you'll need to copy and paste two snippets of code:Paste the first code snippet where you want the search box to appear.Paste the second code snippet where you want the search results to appear. Our Web Dev has given me these two code snippets, but beats me where I'm supposed to put them (despite it sounding really obvious in the explanation).I imagine I'll have to remove the supplied RH search code too?
I have a book open in FM17 - cleaned up all paragraph tags, character tags, saved as FM17. RoboHelp 2017 crashes every single time I try to import the book as a project - it gets to the third or fourth page and stops responding. It's only a 266 page book! I am using a book located on Google Drive - does RH not work across network drives? It's not worth the time and effort to keep trying to create new projects because RH will crash anyway. Are there any updates forthcoming?
I have numerous conditional build tags and they work wonderfully except ---- the hidden information becomes available when using the search feature. Can someone help with what setting I might be missing?

We license some fonts from myfonts.com for use in our Responsive HTML 5 help. The fonts are referenced in our main project .css and in the layout.css that controls the layout styles. At the top of both .css files we must include the following @1552174 code before the @11220649-face declaration for the custom fonts: @1552174 url("//hello.myfonts.net/count/xxxxxx");I believe this allows myfonts.com to track the number of page views that reference the font.In RoboHelp 2015, the fonts displayed as expected in the Responsive HTML5 output. However, after generating the same output in the trial version of RH 2017, the fonts only display for styles defined in the layout.css (such as the TOC). The main topic content does not load the fonts as expected and falls back to Arial, which is the second font specified in font-family attributes in our main project .css.In the Chrome dev console, there is an error message "Failed to Load resource: net:: " that references the @1552174 URL.Any ideas what co
I'm using RoboHelp 2015 Version 12.0.4.460 on Windows 7. I'm looking at the project in the RoboHelp viewer as well as Internet Explorer.I have created a Responsive HTML output with a custom layout and style sheet. This project also has a webhelp_pro layout that we used to use.My custom layout has back and forward buttons defined in the Functionbar (Desktop) along with the print button. They are actually the same as the charcoal grey layout as I based my layout on that. The print button is visible. My Window has Back and Forward buttons selected but behind the Back and Forward checkbox is (Skin: nameofskin). For example: Forward (Skin: Corepoint Skin 2011a). I don't believe the Responsive HTML5 uses skins but I haven't found a way to change that to use the items defined in the layout. I can't help but feel there is some conflicting information in the output somehow.Additional note: I've also tried it with one of the shipped layouts, Azure Blue, and I do not get the back and forward butto
Hi,My company is using RoboHelp since three years with four user licenses. We have 4 Product Help files written in RoboHelp, which is a huge write-up. We use the RoboSource Control to check in all our Source files. The version that was installed and last upgraded onto one of my team member's system was 12.0.2.384. This version is being used since three years.Recently three more writers joined the company and installed RoboHelp. By default, an upgraded version 12.0.2.428 has been installed on the three systems.Since one system comprises of the downgraded version which is being used for three years, my manager is more comfortable with the older version and feels riskier to upgrade to the higher version, as she is worried that the help files may comprise of broken links if upgraded. The write-up is also huge, and we do not have enough bandwidth to resolve any broken links or any other kind of issues. Also, it is riskier to depend on only one system comprising of the downgraded version to
