Background:So, I have a nice hosted help system on Server 9. I'm using the Access database since it's a light load project. It works OK. All admin features work OK (except groups and users bug, unrelated), including reports on search and usage. So, I have been having a devil of a time making a particular search term work in my project: UTS. It's an acronym for a system at my work, and it's important that users be able to search on it. UTS is in several Heading 1s. It's not in the stop list as a typo. Just to be sure, I deleted the whole stop list. I added "UTS" as a topic keyword. It still refuses to find any results. Also, I've noticed some other peculiarities with search: the "context" displayed below the search result is supposed to show the word you searched for in its context, but it never does in my search results. It just shows the first words of the document it's listed as a hit in search. The search is not bad, but these two bugs were odd enough to me to start rooting around f
Experts (Dave?!):As posted yesterday, I'm finally able to log in to the RHS Admin Console.I've been testing the Users areas. I'm having trouble adding users to a group other than the RobAdmin. Please let me know what/if I'm doing wrong. My procedure:1) Access the Users panel:2) Click the upper Add to add new group writers:3) Click OK. The writers group appears in the Group pulldown:4) Type in new user Kurt:5) Click Add. Note how the selected group snaps back to RobAdmin!6) Click Yes to confirm the user addition:7) Observe how Kurt is now added to the RoboAdmin group. (D'oh!).😎 Observer how Kurt is NOT added to the writers group. (D'oh d'oh!)Is the above the expected behavior? If so, how does one add users to a non-RobAdmin group?!?!?Thanks in advance!.-Kurt
I am using RoboHelp Server 9 with RoboHelp 11, using WebHelp Pro. My table of contents and index are working fine, but my search pane is not returning any results. It just keeps coming back with "Sorry, we were unable to find a good answer to your question". I've republished several times, and rebooted the RoboHelp server. How do I troubleshoot this issue? I'm not familiar with how the search indexing works.
I have a new laptop, and have installed TechCommunicationSuite_4_WWEFDJ, which includes RH10. I mapped RH to source control (Team Foundation Server MSSCCI Provider), and have successfully been able to check-in/check-out files. When I generate WebHelp, below is what displays in the Output View, and then I get an error prompt that RH is not working and to close it, find an online solution, etc.I must be missing a dll or something in my new laptop. Everything was working fine on the old one. Does anyone know how to resolve this?Output ViewStarting compilation...WebHelp preprocessor 10.0.0.287Clearing output folder...Compiling C:\FuelsManager Help\Web Application\Cirrus\index.htm... note: the output folder is local only; not mapped to source controlPreparing to create WebHelp...Preparing files for WebHelp...
Hi, thanks for taking my question. In IE11, in online help created using RH7 HTML, the TOC and Search don't appear, an issue that I know has appeared on the forum before. From a search on this forum, I see that a fix applies to RH10. (Sorry, I downloaded the files, but now can't find the post with the fix. Zip is IE11Fix_RH10.zip.) Will that fix work backwards to RH 7? Or is RH 7 completely incompatible with IIE11? Apologies if this has been answered.
Is it possible to map RH 11 heading styles to a different printed document heading level style? Our online help is the source of our printed documents. In order to create a 508 compliant printed document, there can only be one heading 1, and the heading 1 is the title of the printed document. Topic titles must be mapped to a heading 2, as well as subsequent headings must be bumped down a level. Is this possible?
When I insert an image which I made "detached" with Photoshop, can text follow contour? I can insert images but it alsways looks text is following square left or right.Sorry if my words/explanations are not correct but that is because English is not my native language.I use RH 11Aart Korstjensthe netherlands

I have just upgraded from RH9. Now, using my existing project, I try to generate a printable output. I double-click on "Printed Documentation" in the Single Source Layout pod and nothing happens. Right-click and Generate also does nothing. Right-click and View allows me to make a new copy using the existing settings but I have no way to adjust the content, layout, etc. What's gone wrong?
Using RH10, building merged WebHelp, and we've just been asked to tag each topic for Google Analytics. When we were doing this for Webtrends and RH9, we were forced to inject the code as a post process with a perl script. Has RH10 made any advances in that regard? Thanks
Has anyone ran into issues deploying the GA tracking code in their RH10 projects?
Hello. I am working with Robohelp 9. I am working with a group in India that incorporates the Robohelp files that I have generated into their product's online help .They are telling me that they have to hand edit output files from the SSL! folder to add a location for the javascripts they are using (i.e. whver.js). The output for my topic files contain this reference: <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="whver.js"></script>. They want me to edit these this to add this to the path: /...abcdirectory/ after src=". I have moved the files to abcdirectory, but the output files do not generate with this path. It is impractical to edit output files. Is there another way in Robohelp to indicate the location of the .js files so that the output files contain the correct path? Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving.
The following problem has hit my RoboHelp after upgrading v11 to the latest patch 3:When I generate a Responsive HTML5 layout, section URLs get weirdly formatted in a browser (tried both Firefox and Chrome). This does not seem to be project-specific, because the same problem happens when I generate even the standard out-of-the-box projects like Salesbuilder2 and EmployeeCare2.Here is what happens:For example, a link to:file:///D:/!!!/EmployeeCare/Employee_Care/Introduction.htmopens the following browser URL:file:///D:/!!!/EmployeeCare/index.htm#t=Employee_Care%2FIntroduction.htmor, say, a link to:file:///D:/!!!/EmployeeCare/Employee_Care/HR_Policies/Attendance.htmopens as:file:///D:/!!!/EmployeeCare/index.htm#t=Employee_Care%2FHR_Policies%2FAttendance.htmI hope the screenshot below illustrates what I mean:The links still work, but I really like my URLs human-readable. When I roll back to the previous version of RH, the problem disappears. Any ideas what might be causing it?Thanks!
When Generating a WebHelp build and then Publishing in RH X5, and selection to overwite all, I get an error stating "Publishing has been cancelled. The process cannnot access the file because it is being used by another process."What is causing this, please? Solution? Thanks,RoboMan
RH 9, WebHelp output. I have a pre-existing project with a pretty extensive glossary, and users have asked if it's possible to add a search field. That does not seem possible (although I can think of some creative solutions to help). However, when I went through an old test project and ran the output (same version and WH output), I saw a handy alphabetical link that could help my users. But I can't get this handy field to appear in my existing project's output. Any advice? I am using a custom skin.I tried hotspotting a few terms in the project but the handy set of links, tab, whatever you want to call it, will not display.I

I just took over a technical writing position. The previous person was here for seven years and set up and configured RoboHelpl heavily. Of course, the program resides on the C drive of a computer, and so is not backed up. I (and IT) are terrified of a system failure that would put us back to scratch, since many of the last guy's documented processes wouldn't work on a new install without all the magic he added. I am a temporary standin between him and someone else who will take over in 6 months, so I shouldn't change very much. I just want to preserve what is....and perhaps document it all a little better.I haven't worked with RoboHelp in over ten years, but still had more experience in it than any other candidates, but I want to be careful about messing with it. Where is the configuration located and how can we best preserve it for the next person to worry about? A lot of crucial company information is stored in RoboHelp, and we do back up the database to a location that is bac
Hi AllI am using RH 9 and have added some additional buttons to the navagation bar, however I find that the additional buttons don't get the change in background colour on the selected form that the default buttons get. I have tried changing the background colour on the image being used but this fails to resolve the issue. For example the default buttons have the image for search for example on a grey back ground when unselected and when selected the background changes to maroon, however on the additional buttons selected they are the same with the image I have selected on a grey background however when selected I still have the same image on a grey backround, if I use to seperate images one with the maroon background I get this image sitting on a grey background. Is there any way of changing the background colour on the selected option of additional buttons added?I have found out how to change the background colour on the default buttons within the program but thios does not effect the
I can't find anything more current than a mention of embedding fonts in RH5... I have some symbols from Wingdings 3 placed in some lines of text. They look fine in the editor and the preview - and even as a generated chm. but once generated as webhelp, they default to the surrounding font (Arial). Is there a way to embed Windings 3? See image below:Suggestions? Thanks!
RoboHelp HTML 9 and 11. I call an auto-sizing popup to explain a button on an image map. Sometimes it works OK. In certain cases I regularly get the following error message:I just upgraded to RH 11 before reporting the problem, in case it was solved. But it isn't.
While I am opening the context help from IE 10, on the left navigation pane, I am able to see the three tabs, Content, Index and Search. For once (that is, one time), I am able to see the contents on the tabs. Second time onwards, the Index doesn't show any contents. Any fix to this issue? The help works fine on Chrome though. I am using RH9 to create the help.
We are trying to use svn as the version control system with Robohelp. We followed this tutorial: Integrating RoboHelp projects with Subversion | Adobe Developer ConnectionAs long as we try it with a new project that we built it seems to work fine.but when we import the current robohelp project and try to open it, Robohelp freezes (or at least takes a very long time) in the status Querying version control. The project uploads, updates and commits fine when we use tortoise, but it won't open in robohelp no more.Does anyboy have any idea what the cause could be?The robohelp project we want to use is one that was until recent versioned in robosource,We also updated this project to robohelp 11.Thanks in advance.Peter
Hi guys,I'm just wondering if I'm overlooking something with Multiscreen HTML5 browse sequences. As far as I can see, all you can do with them is have a graphic or text for the Next/Previous links. Is there an option to display a drop-down list of available browse sequences like in CHM files? Or to show the topic progression?I kind of assume not, but you never know if you don't ask. Thanks,Amber
One of my projects in a merged projects is showing two browse sequences in the merged system. I've tried deleting the project from the merged system, recompiling, checking that the browse sequence doesn't appear in the merged system, then adding back the project. The duplicate browse sequence appears again. I've also checked the individual project and there is no duplicate browse sequence when I view iit. Any ideas?
I am having challenges with some PDFs being found when you search. For example.Using Sleep as the search word, the PDF document with a title "Sleep Apnea Guideline" should have been found. But it isn't. Many other documents and websites are found but not the one I expected. And even when I search for Sleep Apnea, the document is not found. The primary layout is Multiscreen HTML5.So far I have managed to solve every problem that my client has asked to solve so that they can use RoboHelp as the method to deliver a large number of reference documents and websites. Unfortunately, this one issue my stop everything. I am not able to explain why the document cannot be found. Am I doing something wrong?
