Upgraded recently from RH8 to RH10 and tried to create several types of output for a basic Help file (FlasHelp, WebHelp, WebHelp Pro) but none of them seem to work correctly.Flashelp/WebHelp does not work in IE (links to PDF don't do anything)...Chrome the tab just keeps flashing. All layouts work OK in Firefox or Opera.MS HTML Help is the only one that works which is OK but was hoping for more features.I'm not a programmer but would appreciate any thoughts or ideas.
Hi,I am Prateek, India. I am a technical writer & am working on RoboHelp. I am facing few issues with hyperlinks.Let me straight away take to a scenario:I have generated a chm file, name: "dynamic.chm" ( folder: D\Dynamic)In this chm there are 3 links. viz: one.pdf, two.pdf, three.pdf ( folders random & each pdf is 50kb)When I generated a chm file without giving hyperlinks, the size was 50kb.I gave hyperlinks in a standard(robohelp -> create a project -> topic1 -> some text -> create hyperlink -> link to dropdown -> file -> select a pdf from a location) manner and generated chm output, the size was about 200kb.My requirement: While having the chm size at 50kb, I need all the 3 hyperlinks to work fine. How can this be done?Is there anyway where we can dynamically hyperlink the pdf files to the content? As like in a word document, while giving hyperlink we provide "same folder", is there any option in RH? - I mentioned this because, we will be having a whole s
I recently upgraded from RH7 to 10. For the most part, it was quite smooth. However, while I was able to import my custom table styles in to the program so that they display in the Table Templates, I cannot get the styles to be in the Available Table Styles to actually apply them.I've been round and round the online help and the forums; has anyone else encountered this?
My RoboHelp HTML 10 has RoboHelp HTML 8 chm help file. Not sure why, but I need the Version 10 chm file, where would I get it?Thanks in advance.
Does RH10 provide auto suggestion while authoring content inside a topic. This make me think about the architecture of RH, where is the project related files are stored by RH, inside any database or windows file system? Database would be more suitable for RH to provide auto suggestion than a file system. If file system is used, how is it secured from unauthorized access/usage?
I am experiencing a problem with the toolbar displaying correctly on my help screen. When I click on help from the web application, it displays correctly. When I maximize the IE window, I get garbage charaters in the toolbar section of the help screen. How do I resolve this issue? Thanks!
Info on Adobe site says the IE10 patch for RoboHelp 10 enables webhelp to work in IE10.If I apply the patch, does webhelp work ONLY in IE10 or does it work in both IE9 and IE10?Thanks for your help,John
Anyone know why this message is appearing (just started seeing it this week).Carol
Hi,I'm using RoboHelp 9 as part of the Tech Comms Suite 3.5, Perforce v2010.2 with SCC plugin. Previously I was using Windows XP, but I now have a new laptop on Windows 7, which is why I'm trying to integrate my existing RoboHelp project with Perforce.I've followed the instructions described in http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/2011/07/version-controlling-robohelp-projects-with-perforce.html.I can open my project fine on my old XP laptop by clicking 'Open Project from Version Control' button. On my new Windows 7 laptop I do the following from the Starter page:Click 'Open Project from Version Control' button, select Perforce SCM, ensure the connection is correct, choose the project file, click Open.RoboHelp does the following:Flashes 'Getting Latest Version of File(s) in the bottom right-hand corner, when it gets to 'Building File List...' it crashes with the message 'Adobe RoboHelp 9 has stopped working' and my only option is to click 'Close program'.I cannot work out if the problem is w
I am running RoboHelp 10 on Windows 7.In my source files, I am using a custom bullet style. The bullets appear correctly in the source files. However, when I publish the files to an HTML format, the bullets do not appear correctly. Instead of a bullet, the letter "m" or "n" appears. What do I need to do, to get the bullets to appear correctly?
I just noticed the other day that using content categories causes an error in the output (see below). I verified this with a new test project with the same result. It is independent of the browser used. All is fine if I manually open the start page in one of the subfolders in the Webhelp output. E.g., if the category is named "admin" then open the file "Admin.htm" in the subfolder "admin".It looks like a script error to me, as if a variable was not resolved to set the correct file name for the start file. Any ideas? This in Win7 64bit.
My help file has many, many images that have become obsolete, have been updated, & no longer actually appear in topics. How do I go about viewing a list of images so that I can see which images no longer appear in topics, so they can be deleted?
My manager asked me to "apply the latest template" to my RH project. The folder withthe "latest template" conains numerous project files including the CSS file. It contains the Language, ScreenLayout, SkinSubFolder, and the SSL folders.I believe that simply saving these files and folders over my current project (replacing them) is sufficient for applying the template.Am I right, or is there something else special I need to do in order to "apply" the template?Another way to ask my question might be: Which elements of a RH project constitute "the template?" The .css file and the Master Pages?RoboHelp 10, Windows 7Thanks!Stan
Robohelp 10 project generated primary webhelp unable to open TOC in google chrome? Is there any solution to this problem.
When I attempt to import a screen layout in RH10, RoboHelp hangs and I have to close the application using Task Manager. When I restart RH, the screen layout I imported is in the list of layouts, however it includes only two files and judging from the icons of those files, they are the Search Results Page and the Topic Page. When I right-click the layout and choose Explore, I see that the folder for the screen layout includes many files (approximately 70). I can generate the help using the imported screen layout but it doesn't appear as it should. This seems like a bug but I can't find any info on it anywhere. Any help is appreciated.
All,I am gett the following error when trying to connect to a RoboSource server: Cannot find member name System.Globalization.TextInfo.I am using the following:RoboHelp 8RoboSource 3.1Windows 7 32-bitThis error occurs after attempting to connect to a RoboSource server. If i have incorrect information in there I get error messages about it being unable to connect. I can telnet to the server in question and the server works for other users. The error says that I can do a stack trace which I will post here now. I have upgraded to RH 10 and applied the patch for IE 10 compatibility. When I use the index in compiled webhelp, the index's pop-up menu that displays the names of topics associated with a keyword does not display all the topics associated with some keywords. The menu uses a serif font that is larger than shown in the same index when viewed in IE 9, and i believe that if I could make that font smaller, it would display all the topic names correctly. This issue was described in the discussion "RH 10 issue with IE 10". However that discussion was garbled by users asking other questions & there was no clear response.Does anyone actually know how I can change the font used in the pop-up menu? There was a suggestion in the other discussion that the font size is controlled by IE, not by RoboHelp. In IE, the instructions say that the selectable font is used when a web page doesn't specify a font. If that is the case, then I need instructions on what to change to specify the font. The answe
I have a Parent project with mulitple child projects. Everything worked fine in RH9 with file mapping and CSH. I converted my RH9 projects individually by opening them in RH10. For each project, I saw the following message and chose to upgrade:I then just let RH10 'do it's thing' and got a message that the project was successfully upgraded:For each project, I noticed that when I went to check my Map File, some Map ID's had topics assigned, while others seemed to have lost their assignment during the conversion (example below):I noticed that if I exited RH10, then went back in, they system found all the 'lost' Topic assignments automatically:I figured everything was fine with the Map ID's and assignments and then just generated every child project (and the parent project) in RH10. Now I'm spot testing some of the help topics in our program and am finding that pressing <F1> to access CSH pages is hit and miss. Some topics load correctly, while others search and find not
I am hoping someone can help me here.I'm using Robohelp 6.0 and outputting to a CHM file (Robohtml). I have a separate .htm file with 3 associated files (.flv (flash video), .js, .swf (controller), and .xml (settings) file). This is our training library in video format which is embedded in the .htm file. It was made using Camtasia. What I would like to do is either one of the following:1. Create a relative link from the .chm file to the .htm file which is outside the project.2. Include everything in the baggage files and run it from inside the .chm file.My results were as follows:1. No matter what I try, I cannot seem to access the .htm file from the Robohelp output using a relative link. I ensured that all the files were in a single directory where the chm file is located, so I know the paths are correct. It's as if Robohelp can only create links for absolute paths? Is this really the case? Also, I don't need the files to be included in the project. I just need to access that .htm fil
I've found some really strange issues converting RH9 projects to RH10. One of the things I noticed is the Text fomatting issue. In RH9, every page I created would have it's own .css page, which are listed in the Project Master -> Project Files folder. RH9 would apply every .css to the individual pages I had automatically. Now in RH10, I found that none of the .css pages were being applied, and I have to pick one in the WebHelp settings and select "Apply to All". Not sure why this has changed but it was the only thing that would make all pages of my project have the same Styles and Formatting:
Greetings, thank you all in advance for any assistance. TCS 3.0, Windows 7, 8GB RAM, enough horsepower.Importing a FrameMaker book into a new help project consistently crashes RoboHelp. I have used this exact setup to import other, longer, more complicated books without issue. I have even imported earlier versions of this book numerous time without problem. A few months ago I needed a new version and it started this crash routine. On a different chapter each time. Sometimes it would crash right away, other times it would nearly complete the book before going down. I was finally able to import the book and have been making updates in parallel with both programs rather than going through this import crash issue again. It is at the point that the new changes make this workflow untenable. The only thing I could think of that makes this book different than the other one was there are a number of tables where I pasted icons in rather than importing them by reference. Since the referenc
It appears somebody asked this question (http://forums.adobe.com/message/826492) 5 years ago and never got an answer, here's hoping I have better luck I'm looking in the source files to find where RoboHelp compiles a New Topic. Why? Because I want to add custom meta tags to that source file so that when a new topic is created or republished, the custom meta tags are included, thus authors will not have to manually add them to topics, either new or old. Here's a demo to visualize what I want to achieve:Currently, when I click New Topic, this is what gets created by RH8I want to modify the file that creates New Topics, so that in the future when I click New Topic, this is what gets created by RH8Thanks in advance!
Is it possible to have the navigation links Contents, Index, Search and Glossary appear in a vertical row below the topic list instead of horizontally across the top? I am generating into WebHelp and I need to change the location to be at the bottom of the left side window.
What do I have to do to get WebHelp browser styles to match RH's style sheet? In the PDF rendering, the styles conform to the .css styles, but the generated WebHelp in the browsers (Firefox and IE) does not. I've check all the generated project's topic folders for the correct .css, and they're there. I also put a copy of the .css in the project's root folder as someone suggested, but that doesn't work.I'm using RH 10, and I'm certainly no expert at it or HTML. Forgive me if I've done something stupid or not done something I should have.Thanks.B.
I have a style called Bullet in Robohelp, which is defined as a bulleted list style, and looks like thisin robohelp.I have a style called Bullet in the Word template I want to use to generate output, which is also defined as a bulleted list style. When I get to the Print Document Appearance screen adn select the Word template, I see 'Unassigned - use style in project' against the Robohelp Bullet style entry. When I open up the list of styles available in the Word template the Bullet style is not included in the list. This is costing me much time - every time I generate a document that uses the Bullet style I have to go into the Word document and apply the Bullet style to each relevant paragraph (and remove the spaces between the bullet and the text, but that's a problem for a different day). What do I need to do to get the mapping working properly? Thanks in advance!
