RoboHelp

In my mind I can see us having multiple Robohelp projects managed by GitHub, each with different auuthors. One project is likely to contain content that is reused in a lot of other projects.How would I manage this in RoboHelp?Can I import selected content from project A into project B?Would the author of project B be informed when that content changes?Can the content be automatically be reimorted before I generate a target from project B?

We have a massive Online Help project that we maintain in RoboHelp Classic. We've been wanting to upgrade to RoboHelp 2020 for a few years, but we tried at various times and the upgrade would always fail. Now trying again with the latest update, the upgrade seems to complete successfully, but then some of the styles in the project seem to be corrupt. Bulleted and numbered lists seem to be the most obvious areas where the styling is off, with bullets and numbers either not being present or way out of alignment. Hi,We are trying to implement Google analytics tracking code on output from RoboHelp 2019 Classic. Based on some recommendations on the forum, we added the tracking code to the footer of the master page, but it is not working. We tried the Google recommendation of adding it to the header, but it doesn't work. The code does not get copied over to the header of each individual topic. On consulting with our in-house web developers, we discovered that since the JS code has been rendered inside an iFrame, the Google Analytics code has not been executed. Ideally, the code should be placed on the parent page, so far we have not been able to find an option where we can place the Google Analytics tracking code on the parent page.  Please let us know how we can achieve this so that we can get the usage statistics from Google Analytics.

When using RoboHelp 8 to generate Eclipse via the EclipseHelp.jsx script I encounter the following problem: WebHelp generates its own search and index which does not work once placed inside the EclipsePlugin. Is anyone else using RoboHelp to generate Eclipse Help? How do you overcome this problem?

The majority of the images in my document are just within an <img> tag. I've started trying to add in captions and wrap it all in a <figure> tag, however it keeps creating this strange figure size, that makes text wrapping around it really awful. I tried replacing the <figure> with a <div> tag and it did the same thing. I want to be able to start incluing <figcaption>, but can't do it if this is the current situation.It does this if I float it to the left or right. The figure in the CSS has nothing designating size. I tried setting a width, but it doesn't seem to change anything.

There are cluse as to the file name in the ToC and contents, but I need to know which file it was

RH 2020.7.46, Frameless layout, customized Studio skinIn my topics, I have screen shots to which I have assigned an image style. I defined that style to put a thin gray border on all sides of the image. In the Authoring panel, I see the border as expected. In the output preset, I have the "Show Thumbnail for Images" setting enabled but in the output, I don't see the border around the thumbnail. (The results were the same no matter whether I selected the "Style Existing Images as Thumbnails" option or "Create Thumbnails for Images".) It seems like my image style settings are being ignored or overridden. Is it possible to apply styling to the thumbnail in the reading panel? If so, how would I go about doing that? 

I was wondering if there is a way to automatically download a PDF file from the internet and have it open automatically. I have an internet link to a PDF document that automatically downloads when the Download link is clicked on the webpage. What I want to do is use the download link (URL) and have the PDF automatically open in RoboHelp. Is that possible? When I try to use the link that is used on the webpage, the download occurs to my PC in Downloads, but I would like to have it automatically open at the completion of the download. Thanks in advance.

I need to import a full set of html files in a folder hierarchy. Can Robohelp do that? All I can see is the ability to import single or multiple files. I need to be able to import an existing set of html documentation, complete with all the internal links. If possible, the original RST files could be imported instead

Hi all,unless I am mistaken, when you apply a master page that has no CSS links, the topics should keep their CSS links as they are assigned in RoboHelp. I am quite sure this worked in the past. Now when I do this, the CSS-references in the topics (e.g. default.css) are removed and the topics are displayed with the browser default settings. Am I missing something, perhaps a setting in the new UI? This is Robohelp 2020, Frameless output (Studio), master page applied in the preset. Robert

RH 2020.7.46, Frameless layout, customized Studio skin I'm trying to apply some styling to the Mini TOC caption but having no luck. In the skin, I see Topic Page > Mini TOC > caption, so that seems like the logical place to make changes. But nothing I do there (change the font, change the color, make it italic, etc) seems to have any effect in the output. I have successfully customized the settings for item, selected item, and the item-levels I need by using the Skin Editor, but not the caption. In Inspect mode in the browser, I see that the caption is controlled by .RH-LAYOUT-MINITOC-caption, so I added some code to my user asset .css to make my changes there. Still no effect. What am I doing wrong? All the other Mini TOC settings seem to be customizable in the Skin Editor. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I need help with what I hope is an easy fix. This is what my authoring environment looks like in RH 2015.The way it is set up allows me to drag a folder in the HTML Files (Topics) section, select a book, and drag it to the Table of Contents pane. The screenshot below shows the Active Directory and the Avamar folders in the HTML Files (Topics) section being in the TOC.This is what my authoring environment looks like in RH 2020. How do I show the Contents section next to the Table of Contents at the same time? I cannot figure it out...

I'm using Robohelp 2020.8.34. I have some topics with drop-down text in them that I would like to default to expanded, but I can't readily find information on how to do this. I have the Expand All button in my skin. Do I use the Javascript OnLoad field for the button to do the  expand, and if so, what goes here? Or do I set this somewhere else?  Or is what I'm trying to do not possible. Thanks for your help.

Dear RoboHelp community,we are generating our online help as HTML5 from RoboHelp 2019 Classic. A customer noticed, that the auto-generated cookies for the help output are set to a very large number of 5906 days (resp. valid until 2037) and they asked if there is a way to reduce the validity number for the following cookies:rhhl 5906 daysrhhlbgcol 5906 daysrhhltxtcol 5906 daysrhandsearch 5906 days Is there a way in RoboHelp Classic to reduce that number? When updating from RH 2019 to 2020 for a Frameless edition, I had modified an Orange skin in RH 2019. In 2020 I cannot use this skin. The project is not calculated. So for 2020 I have to modify the skin again. (This just the back story my problem starts here:) I can't replace the logo and the background image of the homepage in RH 2020. At first everything looks fine. But as soon as I save the skin, the images are deleted and get placeholders.Graphic size, format of the graphic (png, gif) does not change anything, it happens with all graphics. I also restarted RH and made new attempts with the original orange skin. In 2019 I had no problems at all. I had used the same images. Is 2020 more sensitive here as well? What to do?

Hello,I'm using RoboHelp 2020.8.34, and we've recently installed RoboHelp Server 11. I've managed to get set up so that I can publish to the correct areas in RoboHelp Server, so we can do some testing and get everything set up the way we want it to be before we migrate from our existing server. Our IT department have set me a DNS up which we thought would be able to be used as a URL to test the published site, but all we seem to be able to access with the DNS is the RoboHelp Server Web Administrator login panel. (With our current setup on an internal server we just replace the name of the server with the DNS and this points to the published site.)Does anyone know where I should ask them to point the DNS?  Many thanks!

Hello everyone, I'm having trouble with the translation process for a project I'm managing. I'm using the manual translation, so I export my XLIFF files, send them to our translation agency and reimport them back usign RoboHelp. The problem I'm having is that the import process just hangs: I have the "importing" toast message in bottom right but the process does not complete and, after waiting for almost half an hour, the notification simply disappears... I don't know what's causing this: I tried importin a smaller chunk of Xliff files and it worked correctly. When I try to import all my 206 files, it simply hangs... The mapper file is in the folder where the tranlsated topics are, so that should be ok. Is there any sort of log I can check? Thank youP.S. For the Adobe guys, the documentation about translation could use a little more info... just sayin' 😉

Hi RH community, I loaded my project from a GitLab repo, and found almost all the images were not appearing in the authoring body. They likewise are not appearing in my ebook pdf outputs.  I can find the images in the assets folder of the project, and can therefore individually add images one at a time, but I feel like there has to be a better way to link assets present in the project with broken links? If not, does anyone know how I can fix the issue of broken links upon download from the Repo in the first place? Thanks!

Hi, I have a responsive HTML5 help source. I am able to generate a PDF document format and it works as expected.One issue, in the ToC of the PDF that is generated when I click the chapter name, it takes me to the first topic inside the chapter. The Chapter name is also not shown in the PDF. For example:Chapter A ......page 20Topic A1....page 20Topic A2.....page 21Now, If I click Chapter A in the ToC it takes me to Topic A1 in the PDF. Chapter A is also not seen in page 20. Why does it go hidden? Any idea what is missing?

We have a responsive html5 help output. The search works perfectly. Except, for some terms, it takes exceptionally more time and results in page unresponsive error. Any idea/pointers on why that would happen? 

When I try to start Robohelp 2020 on my MacBook Pro, it opens to the splash page with “Initializing…” and freezes. I’ve tried opening it via the RH icon in the dock and by opening a project file, with the same result. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Robohelp and have the same issue.  

Good Afternoon,I recently upgraded from Robohelp 2015 to 2019 classic.  I was able to transfer my previous files and had minimal issues cleaning it up (formatting tweaks). However, the issue I've run into is that I can't seem to figure out how to save the generated output as its own file on my local machine, like I could with Robohelp 2015. With it, I selected a destination, saved it in a folder, zipped it up and was able to send/upload it with ease.  With Robohelp 2019, I can generate and view the output, but the publish button hasn't allowed me to save the file as its own entity. Essentially, I need to take the generated output (Responsive HMTL 5) and save it to a folder on my local machine, then send it off to someone else to manage the HTML files and make it live on their server.  It can't be the robohelp file itself as they don't have the program. I was able to set up a path through Publish (and created a profile) but when I go to the folder, there is nothing i

I'm using a Frameless preset and the Orange skin. When viewing on an iPhone, the topic pages don't display correctly (see images). When I try to collape the contents menu it just brings the right sidebar into full view - the topic page is hiddened. The only way to make the topic page show is to rotate the phone landsacpe and back, but then the issue occurs again when I move to a different page. It works fine on Android.   How can I make the topic pages always visible on an iPhone?
