Incredibly slow performance in the composition panel.

I saw some other posts here talking about UI problems. I'm guessing its a bug related to gpu. This bug is not present in older versions. For me, the composition preview panel is incredibly slow. It takes ages to update the preview after panning around or zooming in or out and moving objects around the scene. Like I pan the preview/canvas a bit with the middle mouse button, and then it takes 3 seconds for the move to register and show me the updated preview.

Again, this is only an issue with the latest version. I have seen others with an AMD GPU, so im suspecting its a bug that has something to do with the GPU.

Another hint i found, when installing the older AE 2024, it took some time optimizing for my GPU when i first started the program. something the newer version did not. I think this is the root of the issue.

I'm using an AMD RX6600

Just tried 25.01, also works and initializes the GPU the first time I run it. To me, this confirms that its just an issue with the latest version only. Because no GPU initialization is being done.

Thanks for creating the details post. Please share the following details as well to help us identify the issue:

  1. What are the rest of the system specifications (CPU, RAM, OS version)?
  2. A screen recording of the would be helpful.

We're here to help.

Thanks,

Nishu

Thanks for the reply. Heres the specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1400 quad-core processor

RAM: 16GB

OS: Windows 10

Heres a clip of what i mean.

Its not only when panning around. Its also when I move images or really just do anything in the composition. The whole thing is just extremely slow. Again, this is not an issue with the previous AE 25 version so i dont think its just my specs not being good enough

Thanks for sharing the details. Can you check if you've FreeSync enabled? If yes, can you try disabling it?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Nishu

Having the same problem , with just a new comp with nothing in the panning zooming is slower than before, similar to the youtube video from RAFAEL0S but not as severe, FreeSync was enabled but after disabling it nothing changed with After Effects's perfomance. Equal refresh rates on both my monitors didn't help , disconnecting 2nd monitor didn't help , disabling HDR on the monitor didn't help. Enabling / disabling Mercury GPU Acceleration makes no difference , enabling / disabling Hardware Accelerate
