Text Position Animator Range Selector Does Not Update When Selecting 'Units,' 'Based On'

Before the recent updates, the 'Range Selector' would update based on what type of 'Unit' was selected when adding a 'Position Animator' on text. For example, when adding a 'Position Animator' and selecting 'Index', the 'Range Selector' 'Start' 'End' would default to the number of 'Characters' in the text. If 'Based On' was changed to 'Lines' (for example), the 'Range Selector' 'Start' 'End' numbers would unpdate to the number of lines in the text. This is no longer the case. The 'Range Selector' 'Start' 'End' remains on the character count or, whichever 'Based On' option was selected prior to selecting the 'Units' option. It no longer updates.

As far as we can tell, the start/end numbers haven't updated at least in the last 3 years worth of AE versions. Unclear if it did previous to that. We can log it as a feature request.

If you know of an older version that did update, pelase let us know and we can take a look.

The Start/End has never updated in the manner you described and this is the case for as long as I can recall. However, you can force the update by toggling between Percentage/Index and then back again; depending on which was currently active when you changed the Based On prop.

The range selector Start & End only update when Units is changed if the Based On property is changed first.

So you would set the Based On property to whatever you wanted (charaters, words, lines) and then change the Units property.

If you set them in the reeverse order you have to do what @Roland Kahlenberg suggested and toggle the Units back and forth.

It could be that it has never updated as such, but it would be a nice feature. It only makes sense that, when switching from 'Character' count to 'Line' count (for example), that it would update since the 'Start' and 'End' need to be set to specific parameters. It doesn't make much sense if 'Based On' is set to 'Lines' (with 6 lines of text) and the 'End' parameter shows the number of characters.
