I am working in AE 25.1.0 on PC. I have a scene set up in Advanced 3D, using a mix of .obj and .glb files, alongside regular 2D and 2.5D layers.
My camera starts wide before zooming in close.
My issue is that when the camera gets very close to these layers, they start to clip against the camera. I have not had this issue with Classic 3D but can’t use that renderer if I want to get the most out of the 3D elements.
I have tried adjusting my camera and 3D render options with no success. Any tips?
Hello @joshn31925649,
Thanks for the question and welcome to the forum. It sounds like you are having a little trouble with your footage and a 3D camera. While I don't have an immediate solution, I'm hoping someone from the community might chime in. If you upload your project file and sample assets, I can forward those on to the team, if you like. PM me here. I hope we can help you.
Thanks,
Kevin

None of your screenshots show the cameras or the 3D layers' positions. Just two views would help. Your camera also has a very wide-angle lens, which suggests that it is very close to some of the layers. Layer order and offset can also contribute to 3D object stacking in the shot. We need a lot more info to give you some meaningful workflow suggestions.

Hey Rick,
Thanks for the help. Please find attached a 4-view setup with a simplified scene, using just a solid and the camera. You can see the camera isnt intersecting the plane, but still shows clipping in the Active Camera view. I've also attached the simplified project file.

You have an incredibly wide lens (less than 10mm equivalent), but I don't see any difference between the Classic 3D view and the Advanced 3D view, and I don't see any clipping. Check out the video—I changed the solids' color and experimented with the Checkerboard effect.
I would try giving the camera a 15mm or longer lens. I'm still not sure what is supposed to be clipping. I don't see anything I didn't expect.

I have the same problem. I created an animated chart using Advanced 3D to be able to bend flat layers. Everything animates fine, but I have an issue where the layers disappear when the camera moves closer. I want to fly the camera between two bars of the chart, but I can’t. This problem doesn’t exist in Classic 3D. My camera is set to 28mm, so it’s not very wide.
At the moment, Advanced 3D imposes more limitations than benefits.

Thanks for reaching out, Harry,
Can you share a project file that replicates the behaviour? It'll reach out to the devs for their inputs. Feel free to share the file via DM if you prefer not to share it publicly.
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks,
Nishu
