Can't figure out why layer is fading to black at 32s when there are no Effects or Transitions added

I'm using a slideshow template that I downloaded online. I changed some of the animations on the slides, but I cannot figure out why it is fading to black even though there are no effects on the layer. When I move the layer around on the timeline, the fade to black only happens at the 32 second mark, so the effect isn't on the layer itself. If I don't have any layers on the 32 second mark, then the fade to black doesn't happen.

I'm an After Effects newbie so thanks for any help!

The matte could be fading. Hit the shy guy to reveal all other layers.  You may want to read the online help on some basics. A lot of stuff in AE isn't obvious or intuitive.
