Can't View 3D Objects in After Effects (Version 25 and Previous)

Body:
Hello,
I’m having trouble visualizing 3D objects that I export from Blender in formats like .glb, .obj, or even those available on Adobe Stock. All I can see are the coordinates and a box indicating where the object should be, but the model itself isn’t visible.

I’ve searched through various forums but haven’t found a clear solution. I rely heavily on this feature for my work, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are my system specs:

  • OS: Windows 11
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X
  • GPU: Nvidia 4070 Super (Studio Driver 565.90)
  • RAM: 32GB

Thank you for your time!

That is not ideal.

Can you try running After Effects in Safe Mode and see if that brings any change? If not, could you share the 3D model file with us to test? Feel free to share it via DM.

We're here to help.

Thanks,

Nishu

Thank you, after starting it in safe mode, it works, although it still occasionally gives an error, but at least it works.

Hi @VandenIlustrador (and @nishu_kush for future reference to share with users please),

When a model's bounding box is rendering, but the model itself is not rendering, there are adjustments that can be made to the project to improve interaction with the model in the app.

First, open the Renderer Options from the 3D Engine dropdown.

Next, make sure your Render Quality is set to a low value. 6-8 seems to be a sweet spot to set this to while working in the app. Shadow settings need to also remain low -- like in the 3 range to stay in a workable state.

You can change this to a higher setting when you're ready to preview or export a higher quality version.

Another key, is to make sure Adaptive Resolution is enabled in the Fast Previews dropdown in the Comp Window (little lightning bolt icon).

Open the Adaptive Resolution preferences and use the slider to prioritize Interactivity with the app and the models while working and change this to prioritize Quality when you're ready to preview a higher res version of your 3D scene.

lastly, it can be helpful to change the Comp Resolution to "Auto" or "half" with some models.

Do these changes work for you?

Can you share the model with me so I can test on my side?

Thanks,
