CC RepeTile not working

Sep 15, 2023 Sep 15, 2023

Applying CCRepetile to a layer produces no results.  Im unsure if the recent updates to the OS or CC apps broke it.

I started a new project and everything seems to be working okay now.  I even returned to the project that was causing a fuss and it's working.  This particular project uses a number of nested comps imported from Photoshop, tons of third party plugins and high rez layers.  My guess is that I had some corrupt cache files, a memory error or stumbled into a particular combination of plugins that caused the problem.

Can you share a project that this is happening with?

I just tried CC RepeTile with After Effects 23.6.0 (Build 62) under macOS Ventura 13.4.1 on a 16-inch MacBook Pro M1 Max and Expand Right, Expand Left, Expand Down, Expand Up, Tiling  and Blend Borders all work as expected.

Are you trying to use RepeTile on a shape layer with a stroke applied? That will give you unexpected results because it multiplies the stroke width and creates gaps. That is the only odd behavior I see, but it may have always been there.

It's working fine for me on a nearly identical machine on shape layers with no stroke, text layers, solid layers, and pre-comps with Collapse Transformations turned on.

Hi there,

Thanks for writing in.

What happens when you try to use the effect? Are there any error messages?

We're here to help.

Note: Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for troubleshooting.

Thanks,

Nishu

@nishu_kush - No error message, it simply did nothing.  This an effect I've been using daily for an insanely long time so I'm very accustomed to how it works.  All day yesterday, it wouldn't work on any layer in the project.  Today it's fine.  🤷🏽

That's strange!

Glad to hear that it's working again. Feel free to reach out if it happens again.

Thanks,

Nishu
