hedasklork, there seems to be a missing binary in the installation of the application. Did you use the Creative Cloud desktop app to install After Effects?

Try these steps and get back to us with an update:

  • Uninstall After Effects using the CC Cleaner tool
  • Make sure After Effects directories are deleted from Applications
  • Then reinstall After Effects via the Creative Cloud desktop application

Hi hedasklork,

Sorry to hear that you're crashing on launch.

Have you sent the crash log to us after the app crashed? If you have, please share the email address that you used to send the crash log with me via a private message. I'll try to retrieve your crash log from our crash report server and get it investigated.

If you haven't sent the log to us, follow this guide and send it to us: How to submit crash reports for Digital Video applications

Meanwhile, I'll share the crash log posted above with an engineer and see if it states anything obvious.

Thanks,

Rameez

Hi Rameez,

Thank you so much for your help! I did install After Effects with Creative Cloud, I just hadn't deleted its directories from my Applications folder. You're a life saver!
