Add the comp to the Render Queue.
Unless you are an expert in video standards, formats, and compression, click down on the V to the left of the Output Module and select High Quality With Alpha. Until you gain sufficient knowledge and experience, let Adobe's presets do the work for you. There are also presets in the Media Encoder for h.264 (the most common format for sharing video) that include presets for YouTube, Vimeo, and other streaming providers. Use those templates to avoid fouling things up.
It would help if you also spent a little time in the Learn Workspace to understand basic workflows and the UI and with the User Guide to look at efficient workflows for common projects.

I just want to make sure I'm not crazy beause it seems more and more when I need to do something straight forward with Adobe the answer is to buy an app or use a free app.
So if you export a file to have as a transparent bkg following the listed steps in this thread and various Youtube videos : Quicktime, RGB+Alpa, Animation /Lossless etc etc ( I've done eveything suggested below and more ) you get the joy of having an exported file that your computer then says "It cant be opened and isnt compatible with quicktime"?
aaaaand you also cant add the file to your photo album like other video files because it says its "Unrecognizable"?
Is this right? Theres no way to export a tranparent bkg file from AE that will automatically play on a Mac and is friendly with other programs because of some issue with Quicktime?
If someone could tell me some simple way or what I'm missing I'd be extremely happy because this seems insane right now.
Thnx
FYI I'm using Sonoma 14.3

You don't have to buy anything. You don't want to use the Animation Codec. It has been deprecated and is no longer supported by a lot of apps. Check the Output Module/High Quality with Alpha preset. That will give you a ProRez 444/RGB + Alpha file that is compatible with everything.
I have gone to the File/Templates/Output Module menu and edited my High Quality and High Quality with Alpha presets to now use Trillions of colors because I almost never work in 8-bit projects and set the color to Straight-Unmatted because that is also compatible with everything. Now, I never have to think about settings; I just select the Output Module preset that is compatible with my project. I have also edited the Pre-render Output Module preset to use the High Quality with Alpha Preset so everything matches.
Do that and you'll never have to worry about Alpha Channels again.
