I've been trying to animate a little something but whenever I press space or 0 to preview it, it won't stop, it takes a really long time IF it does. I never had this issue before I updated to CC2020, it can't be a media cache or a RAM issue, cause I literally only have like 5 layers of text;; It just keeps looping over and over.

I have same issue...I was going to roll back to driver 442.19 but I have that already!! I don't have the problem in every preview...may be every 2 days it happens again. So what I learn so far...no updates until I make sure it is fixed.

It can be an improvised solution, but I imported the composition in Premiere, editing in Ae and previewing in Pr.

this is massively taking time out of my work. Anyone got a solution other than using an older Nvidia driver?

I fixed this problem by downloading an older version of AE. Fed up with all the bugs with updates nowadays. So I only update when I absolutely have to.

having the same problem, preview starts and program becomes unresponsive, totally unable to stop the playback and have to force quit. have tried older versions and re-installing, reset prefs, all the usual stuff and its still happening. sometimes I can get lucky and just keep pressing ESC and it might come back to life and freak out performing all the clicks I made while it was locked up, but even when that works, which is rare, it takes a long time to start working.
would love a fix as this seems to, very suddenly, and for a lot of people, be a large problem.

At least my frustration with this problem is verified by all of your comments. This has been one of many ongoing productivity killers in AE and Premiere. I'd like to respectfully add my complaint to the pile in the hopes Adobe prioritizes this problem.

Mine was already at (25) so no luck for me 😞
However, I posted a solution where I click the play button in the panel and don't move my mouse off it.

I'm having the same problem, the time line is playing and it wont stop unless I force quit. I'm losing billable hours on this job. It's been 5 months and no response from Adobe.

How has this issue still not been addressed? This is happening to me right now. I have clients that need these finished animations which are being slowed down heavily by this issue. Adobe this needs to be fixed.

There are a few ways to initiate a Preview. Have you tested with the different Preview setups to see if at least one of them works as expected?

I got it working. Not sure if this will help everyone, but I updated my Nvidia studio driver over the weekend. So to test to see if that was causing the problem, I installed the game-ready driver yesterday and the it stops and plays fine now by pressing the spacebar. (yes Roland Kahlenberg, I know and tried all the ways to initiate a preview)
