When I open AE 24 on my Apple M-2 laptop I get the message:
to run After Effects in a compatible mode, choose Get Info in the application context menu and enable Open using Rosetta.
I go to the AE app and right click on the app, go to Get info but when the screen comes up there's no reference to Rosetta. (see attached).
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks, TW
You're good with the 23.6 until you try to use the Dynamic Link with Premiere Pro or Media Encoder. You need to have the same version of the apps in order to use Dynamic Link. The good thing is, you can keep 24.x and 23.x at the same time.
About the plug-ins, the manufacturers of the plug-ins are the best point of contact for this question. However, sooner or later, most plug-ins get the update to support the latest versions.
Feel free to reach out if there are any other questions.
Thanks,
Nis

Hi YankeeRebel 65,
Thanks for writing in.
The Rosetta mode is not available in After Effects 24.0, so it's expected that it's not available in the Get Info panel. Can you try opening After Effects from the Creative Cloud desktop app and see if you still get the message?
Let us know.
Thanks,
Nishu

I encountered the same problem with Sonoma. Numerous effects, including not only third-party ones but also those from Adobe, are disabled. I reverted to version 23.6 and will likely remain here until Adobe finally decides to release a proper update. I'm also hoping that Apple won't introduce the M3 Processor in the meantime…

Did 23.6 work for you?

I can open the Inter-version, and all the effects seem to work.

Hi Tony,
Could you share a screenshot of the message you get? Also, please try running After Effects in Safe Mode and see if it brings any changes.
Let us know.
Thanks,
Nishu

Thanks for the screenshots. Looks like these are the third-party plug-ins that are not compatible with the After Effects Mac ARM version. Try installing the 23.6 and run it in the Rosetta mode if needed.
Hope it helps.
Thanks,
Nishu

Hello,
23.6 allowed me to open, evidently in Rosetta, but it did give me the warning window, which I've attached here. Of the ones listed in the window, I only use PremierePro (vers 24.0) and Media Encoder (24.0.2).
Do you think the plugins offering difficulty loading in 24.2 will ever be updated? Just asking.
Thanks,
Tony

Thanks so much for your help! Since the plugins aren't available I may just go back to AE 24.x and ride out the storm to keep Dynamic Link working. Thanks again,
Tony

The After Effects Render Engine is a render-only version of After Effects that allows us to open and render projects on an unlimited number of computers. More information is available here: ˘Automated rendering and network rendering (scroll down to "Network rendering with watch folders and render engines").
As Rosetta is no longer supported for After Effects version 24, there's nothing to wait for. Any installed third-party plug-ins that aren't compatible with Apple silicon need to be updated for use in After Effects 24.
Also, we can expect the "Open using Rosetta" option for After Effects Render Engine version 24.x to become unavailable in an update to version 24.
