Welcome back to our series on free After Effects resources from across the web. If you missed the first one, we covered Camera Crew by Motion Ape well worth a look. This time, we're highlighting a tool that, honestly, needs no introduction for a lot of you. But if you haven't tried it yet, you're in for a treat. Meet DUIK ÁngelaDUIK Ángela is the 17th major version of DUIK, the comprehensive rigging and animation toolkit built by Nicolas Dufresne and the team at RxLaboratory. It's been actively developed for over 15 years, and at this point it's the go-to rigging script for character animators working in After Effects, used in commercials, music videos, indie films, and animated series all over the world. And it's completely free and open source. What you can do with itDUIK brings the kind of rigging tools you'd expect from a 3D application - IK, controllers, bones, constraints, and adapts them for 2D animation in AE. Once you've got a character rigged, you can pose and animate them li

The latest version of After Effects is here. Bringing powerful new features designed to speed up everyday workflows and reduce manual effort.Leading this release is Depth of Field in the Advanced 3D renderer, letting you pull focus on 3D models, meshes, materials, and text right in-engine. Alongside it, you can now paste Illustrator and SVG content as native editable shape layers, track masks up to 5x faster, copy a rendered frame straight to your clipboard, create swirling organic motion with the new Curl Noise effect, and quickly filter the font list to find variable fonts. This release focuses on helping you get more done with fewer steps. What's new in 26.3 Depth of Field in the Advanced 3D renderer Create a Depth of Field effect that lets you focus on 3D models, parametric meshes, Substance 3D materials, 3D text, shape layers, and more in Advanced 3D. Want your 3D scenes to feel like they were shot through a real camera lens? With Depth of Field in the Advanced 3D renderer, you can now pull focus on your 3D scene right in the engine, keeping your subject sharp while everything in front of and behind it falls into a soft, natural blur.It works across 3D models, parametric meshes, Substance 3D materials, 3D text, shape layers, and more. No compositing tricks or post blur required. What can you do with it?Add true, camera-accurate depth of field rendered directly in Advanced 3D Keep your subject in sharp focus while backgrounds and foregrounds blur naturally Apply it to 3D models, parametric meshes, Substance 3D materials, 3D text, shape layers, and more Get realistic optical blur instead of faking it with post effects Put it to use in your workflowDirect the viewer's eye to a hero product, logo, or title Add cinematic depth to 3D type and motion graphics Create dreamy, shallow-focus background plates Sell realism on 3D model and materi
I am trying to install plugins in AE but they crash. The plugin company (red giant) says its because adobe apps are not registering in the MacOS system in the System Information app under applications. I keep running deep clean to erase all adobe things from my system and reinstall the apps. Still won’t register. What to do? AI is no help on this one.
With GPU acceleration enabled ("Use Graphics Processor"), Photoshop's canvas displays images brighter than the actual pixel data. Confirmed by comparing the canvas to the layer thumbnail (which shows the correct, darker image) and to the same file opened in Preview.app and Camera Raw. Disabling GPU acceleration and restarting Photoshop fixes it — canvas then matches thumbnail/Preview.Steps to reproduce:Open a JPEG or ARW file (GPU acceleration on, default) Compare canvas to layer thumbnail — canvas is visibly brighter Photoshop > Settings > Performance > uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > restart Reopen file — canvas now matches thumbnailExpected: canvas matches actual pixel data. Actual: GPU rendering over-brightens display only (underlying data is correct).Likely related to a broader shared GPU rendering issue — other users report the same artifact in Premiere Pro and After Effects. I haven't found an answer to this anywhere. I am not sure if it is even possible. I need to know how to center the anchor point of a single shape within a shape layer. I am trying to rotate a couple of shapes within a single shape layer, but I cannot figure out how to get their anchor points centered. I know how to do it for the entire layer, but not for the contents within the layer.
Hello there,We are experiencing rendering issues with our EXRs in After Effects 25.4.Our images appear with several horizontal black lines at regular intervals, dividing the vertical image into 14 equal horizontal segments. These lines are 1 pixel high and transparent. The rendered EXRs do not present any rendering issues in Photoshop or After Effects 25.3.2.The EXRs are high resolution (4984x3584 pixels), come from 3dsmax/Vray, and are encoded in DWAB.Given that patch note 25.4 specifies improvements to EXR processing, it is possible that this is where the problem lies.No effect are in the scene, no nothing. Only the EXR sequence. The lines are not necessarily visible at the top of the composition and do not appear on all frames. However, they always appear in the same place in the composition over time.I have, of course, tried all the usual methods to remove these lines from the rendering, but I have not been successful. Purging all the data, switching to Mercury, changing the interpret
In many occasions Adjustment Layers, Backgrounds, masks, letterboxes ‘live’ throughout the whole Comp. It would be nice to have a layer switch that makes layers persistent, even when the Comp duration changes.
DEACTIVATE THE SHORT CUT FOR RENDER/NOT RENDER IN CAPS LOCK!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!! OR GIVE ME A WAY TO DEACTIVATE IT. WHEN ANIMATING TEXT IT’S A NIGHTMARE!! PLEASEEEEE!!!
Hello!I'm using After Effects CC 2017, but I was using CC 2015 when the problem first appeared (tried to download a previous and a newer version, the problem persisted on both). Here is what happened: .I opened the project. I see the message "Refresh Disabled (Release Caps Lock to refresh the view)" with the black screen, but Caps Lock is ALREADY released. I didn't even pressed it in the first time..When the video is rendered, the message doesn't appears..If I change anything, like just move one layer a little, the message comes back..Any key I press make the message disappears.I tried to reset my configurations, with no success.Trying to finish a project but it's impossible this way. Any of you guys could help me? I'm using a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) Sierra, 2,9 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB.Thanks!
Create a Shape Layer. Name it “1”.Duplicate it, using cmd-D (ctrl-D on Windows). See how the layer name of the duplicate is “2”, and above “1”. In many cases, making numbered layers, requires the duplicates appear UNDER the original. This has to done manually for each duplicate. My request: let alt-cmd-D or shift-cmd-D do that in one go: create Duplicate under the original.
As seen in this image, the rect boundary of the right and bottom edges are not correctly displayed - there are gaps between the visual presence of pixels and the rect boundary. This is a critical issue that affects solutions that require pixel-perfect layouts. This issue affects a few 3D Mesh Types. It will be good to know, early, if this will be resolved or if this is an as-designed feature so that I and others who find this issue to be debilitating can look at alternative solutions.TIA.
To make a flickering effect, the Strobe Light effect comes in handy. But when applied to an Adjustment Layer, and set to ‘Makes Layer Transparent’, it affects the Opacity of the underlying layers as well, kind of natural Adjustment Layer behavior. But when we want to only strobe the Adjustment Layers’ effects, it is not possible with the Strobe Effect. Please make that possible via a switch.
Timeline folders. We have them in Animate, Photoshop, Illustrator... precomps can utterly ruin your work and is NOT an alternatives to having a simple folder hierarchy - especially when dealing with shape layers or anything that requires continual rasterization.
I'm running into a consistent crash in the latest version of After Effects whenever a composition requires the Advanced 3D renderer. The app immediately throws an error stating:"After Effects can't continue: Advanced 3D plug-in generated an unexpected exception."I am forced to switch back to Classic 3D, but I really need to use the Advanced 3D features. I've already installed Cinema 4D, but the issue persists. Here are my system and driver specs: GPU: NVIDIA T1200 Laptop GPU (4 GB VRAM) Driver Version: Release 595 (Conservative / Production-tested branch) Application: After Effects (Latest CC Version) I have tried many versions including 26&25
I have been working with After Effects for six years and haven’t seen this before. This project has six compositions. The timeline on five of them work as normal, all the collateral is listed on the left and there are horizontal bars for all them in the timeline. I can sweep through and view the composition. One of the compositions has all the collateral listed on the left side. The timeline is showing time but there are no horizontal bars showing when a piece of collateral appears/disappears. There are numbers listed down the side. You can sweep through the timeline and watch the preview but there are no bars or graphics in the timeline. How did this happen and how can I get it back to normal view?
How can I fix the frame flickering in adobe after effect 2026? Motion Blur is turned on
As first discovered in After Effects 26.3, third-party plugins based on the AE SDK can no longer expect to receive a valid AEGP_LayerH via AEGP_PFInterfaceSuite1->AEGP_GetEffectLayer() if the call is made while the plug-in is handling the PF_Cmd_PARAMS_SETUP command. It is unclear how this affects all third-party plugins running in AE. The side effects for FxFactory plug-ins thankfully appear to be marginal. Our plugins are invoking that function during PF_Cmd_PARAMS_SETUP in order to compute the in/out points of the effect clip by using the AEGP_LayerH in subsequent calls to AEGP_LayerSuite7->AEGP_GetLayerInPoint() and AEGP_LayerSuite7->AEGP_GetLayerDuration().
When i click “s” to open the scale property, the values of scales are not visible. that’s why i need to open properties panel to control its value which slow down my work. same happening with every properties. i mean the values are visible at all. i am sharing two screenshots 1. the issue. 2. what’s missing
Lately, more and more clients are asking for that raw Gen Z visual language, Y2K brutalism, heavy grain, chaotic collage work, chromatic aberration, and stacked layer styles. Visually, it looks sick. Technical-wise? It’s turning my After Effects timeline into a complete slideshow. When you're dealing with 50+ layers of textures, noise maps, and complex typography in Photoshop, what’s your go-to strategy before sending it to AE? Are you flattening/baking grunge textures into single assets, or keeping everything live and praying to the RAM cache gods?Would love to know how you guys balance keeping that unpolished, edgy look without completely destroying your render times or handoff structure.
Need some help with installing an older version of after effects on my MacBook Pro. My Mac is a 2017 MacBook Pro running macOS Ventura 13.7.8. Creative Cloud only shows After Effects v26.3 as “System incompatible” and v25.6.6 giving the options of free trial or buy. Clicking “Free trial” on v25.6.6 doesn’t download anything—it just says “You already own After Effects.” There is no “Other versions” option anywhere in my Creative Cloud interface. I’ve looked at the tutorials for downloading older versions but my layout looks different and the three dots that is supposed to offer you older versions only says plug ins?? Can anyone please help me install a compatible version?
Hi guys, I’m running into a problem with my green screen. When I key it out with Keylight, a grey area is left behind, probably from a glass reflection behind the girl.I have no idea how to get rid of it. I also tried changing that grey area to green, but I still end up with visible edges because the hair is slightly out of focus. Any ideas?
