Help! All my automatic hyphens disappear when exporting a pdf. First I thought it was all hyphens but in closer inspection all soft- and discretionary hyphens remain. I've tried everything from uninstalling, downgrading, updating, restarting my computer... Nothing seems to work. I packaged the file and sent it to a friend and he was able to output a pdf with the hyphens, but I can't do it on my own inDesign (using the latest version, legit Cloud version)

Hello! I am on MAC OS TAHOE and when i package, my link folder is empty, and i have an error message - i mean, i REALLY have to package with all the links… What do i do to resolve this issue! Thanks!  

Is it not possible to use "Track Changes" in footnotes? Is this by design, or is it a bug?

I am using InDesign 21.3, working on a simple 2 page file, I go to place a logo and the blue thinking wheel pops up and doesn’t go away. I can click and move things around but none of it is being “saved”. I close the file and click to close the program and it just sits there still open. I then have to force quit the program. When I relaunch the file opens with the software and everything I did while the wheel was spinning was not saved.It’s done this several times since the update and there is no pattern to why. I’m finding it randomly acting up. It’s really frustrating, especially when I’m not working on anything complicated.

Description of Issue:When managing large-scale brand guidelines containing dozens of colors nested inside multiple Color Groups (folders), importing swatches via standard methods (Import .ase or Load Swatches from .indd) completely breaks the user's intended layout order and folder hierarchy.Steps We Tried That Failed / Had Major Limitations:Direct .ase or Layout File Import: Importing the master palette causes the internal sequence of the Swatches panel to reverse entirely. The top color folder stacks at the bottom, and the bottom color folder pushes to the top. Batch Moving Color Groups to Correct Order (Option 1 Failure): Highlighting multiple inverted Color Groups simultaneously and dragging them to snap the order back causes InDesign to completely collapse the folders. I’m doing a simple Indesign data merge with multiple record layout to place 8 name tags per page (using Avery Template 5390).I have a single design on the page (with 3 variable text fields). It won't create multiple records per page - it keeps putting one name tag on each page.I’ve done Data Merge > Create Merged Document > Multiple Records per Page. When I select “Preview Multiple Record Layout” it populates the first name tag but shows no additional name tags. When I click “Ok” to merge, it creates one name tag per page, not the 8 name tags per page that I need to work with the Avery template. Screenshot below. I’ve spent hours on this trying just about everything (including placing the design elements on a Master page). Hoping someone can help!!

After a recent update, my InDesign is now showing all these stupid pop-ups the whole time. Screenshot attached.  To be absolutely clear, I am talking about the entire dialogue box, not the tool-tip illustrateed in a section of the dialogue box shown.   How do I kill them off once and for all ?  I've looked through Preferences but canot spot anything obvious.       <Title renamed by MOD>

The developer release notes state that starting with version 22 (InDesign 2027) the SDK will only support Visual Studio Enterprise 2026. The requirement to use the enterprise version of Visual Studio was never ther in all the years that I have developped plugins. Did anyone try to compile v22 plugins using the Professional version of VS 2026 ?

InDesign crashes every time I mount a picture. I have tried different versions of the program but same result. It happens no matter what picture I mount. I have changed computer but that didn`t help either. My co workers with the exact same computer have no trouble mounting the same pictures that I try to mount, so the pictures can`t be the problem. What can I try next?

I frequently create brochures, and at some point in the project without fail the share for review link stops allowing me to update content. The review links are an integral part of our workflow, and for my non-brochure work they are fine (although I have to update those less frequently), but with my brochure documents it will allow me to create a new link, but after that I can no longer publish any changes. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign, turned off and on countless times, ensured the document I’m updating is the only one open, packaged then opened the idml and re-saved the document to indd. It just doesn’t work, and it’s really frustrating to explain to our clients that their comments have gone because we had to make a new link (or they get confused, comment on an old link and we don’t make the updates). Any ideas?

Hello, why can't I upload files to Indd when it worked fine for years. Most graphic designers and studios work with NAS devices. I can't save anything, I have to make copies and restore files. Can something be done about it? Thank you very much rh     <Title renamed by MOD>

I have all updates for the apps installed. When using indesign--where i constantly use the libraries--it freezes constantly and I have to quit indd & restart it for it to come back. all other parts of the program work fine. it's only the libraries that freezes. 

I installed Adobe 2026 on my imac. Now undo doesn’t work. It’s permanently grayed out. ID 21.2 on a Retina 5K running Ventura 13.7.8. If you look at screen shot, I can’t undo the neon effect I made or undo the letter ‘M’ I deleted. I’m opening 2025 ID to see if that helps. 

I am trying to open files on Indesign and they load and load but do not open. They will address if there are links that need to be updated, which I have selected don’t update, and update modified links, and the files will still not load. I thought it may have something to do with box.com where I stored the file, so I transferred it locally onto my laptop and still no luck.

I’ve had this problem for years, and no update fixes it. Sometimes, the font activation process just keeps spinning indefinitely. It’s really annoying to see that wheel spinning all the time. It even happens with fonts I’m not using or don’t even want to activate. The worst part is that there’s no "X" to stop the process.Is there a solution?Thanks in advance.

Hi allemaal, ik heb een vraag over automatische pagina en hoofdstuk nummering. Ik wil sommige pagina’s overslaan in mijn document omdat er alleen titels staan. Hoe doe ik dit?  

The last couple months I’ve been experiencing what I can only describe like lag issues in redrawing my layout. Reminds me using Quark a million years ago.If I change a font size, the layout doesn’t show the change unless I click off the text box.When scrolling or moving the page I get large grey geometric shapes or blank spaces or colorful glitchy lines.I’ve turned off GPU performance but it doesn’t matter.Anyone else seeing this?MacBook Pro M4Max 48GB RAM
