P: LR iOS batch export gets stuck

Community Beginner ,
Nov 03, 2024 Nov 03, 2024

Is anyone experiencing download issues currently? The process begins to download and then arrives at a point about a quarter way of the downloads then seems to start freezing up. If I go individually through each picture it allows for the download but as a group I'm having issues. Anyone know what it is causing it?

Thanks again!  We were able to reproduce the problem with images from your specific camera.  Other raw images did not have the same issue.

I converted this from a regular post to a bug for tracking.  Setting this to "Acknowledged" while we wait for Dev's investigation

Greetings all,

Adobe Lightroom Mobile product updates are released.  The December release updates contain a fix for this issue.

Updates will be available via the Apple App Store. Note that it can take several days for some customers to receive a notification of an available update via their App Store.

Thank you for being so patient.

Gibt es hier schon eine Lösung?

Es funktioniert noch immer nicht. 🙁

Hallo zusammen,

Besten Dank schon mal.

Icke

Hello @Immer weiter.

Could you please confirm the Lightroom app version you are running?  In December, version 10.1.1 was released, and this included a fix for batch export.

@Charlie.D you didn't fix anything...

IMG_3292.jpegIt's been stuck like this for 10min. I have no words.

At this point, this is seriously disrespectful.

Hello @AlexJz

What may help is if you could share specific details, steps, and export settings you used when encountering this problem.

On an iPhone 13 Pro Max with iOS 18, and the latest app update LR iSO v10.1.3, I just exported 50 images with various edits applied to raw and jpg sources.  I used the basic Share > Save Copy to Device option, as that seems like what you may have tried. (my own screenshot, below)

Did you apply any export settings changes (via the sliders button the the Save Copy to Device menu item, or did you use Export As.., and specify anything like 100% JPG quality)?

In app settings, do you have Content Credentials settings enabled?

If you locate and open that specific image from your screenshot, are you able to export that successfully as a single photo?  Is there anything unusual about that photo (like missing edit settings another LR app may have applied, which didn't fully sync to your export device)?  I'm wondering if the LR app is having trouble loading something, whether local or from the network.

Fundamentally, are you online with a stable internet connection, so that the app is able to download images as needed if the originals are in cloud storage?

Thanks for any useful details or answers to questions above you can provide.

my own attempt to reproduce the problem with default settings for Save Copy to Device:

@michael_8487

What exactly are you trying when the app crashes?  What app version are you using?  Does it help to reinstall the app?

Charlie.D I can tell you I have a similar issue. iPad Pro 13 M4. When I batch export using the Export with settings. It will hang on photos that appear to have AI tools used on them.  Specifically I used background blur on 3 photos and all hung up on export. When I batch all the others alone they are fine. When I export each of these 3 individually they export fine.

Adding as well. This has happened on two different iPads over the course of the last year. M2 iPad Air and then this new one. Running the latest updates. 10.1.1

"background blur " -- this is great info.  I will take this to the team.

@Charlie.D

iPad M4 13", iPad OS 18.3 public release (22D63) on the Lr version mentioned above.

In every single case, the photos were imported on the device from a SD card.

The album where they were imported into are always set to "Store Locally".

iPad has plenty of space left (about 150GB).

Camera are either Leica Q2 or SL2, DNG files. They don't support content credential.

I can double check, but I never changed this setting, so it should be the one by default.

It's never a specific file: if I force restart the app, then the exact same batch export works.

And once it works, the batch of images can always be exported.

I often have AI Masks on my photos, though not always: it's either Subject or Sky.

Plus some classic masks like brush, linear/radial gradient.

Never any background blur like mentioned above.

Subject/sky/linear were used this time.

Batches are never that big, around 15 to 30 photos I would say.

While I'm not 100% certain, I have a hunch that it always/often happens when the photos have just been imported.

i.e. photos imported, edited, and exported without the app being exited/restarted/background suspended by iPad OS.

It was definately the case this time, and at least 2 other times.

I will try to make some tests as soon as I can, to test this hypothesis.

Not sure I will manage before Friday though.

@Charlie.D

Today, I have tried various selections of photos when exporting my latest photos.

Number of photos exported doesn't matter; method neither (save on device/export as).

But there's a few specific photos, that trigger a complete freeze of the export.

I started subdividing the selection into small chunks, until I managed to isolate a few photos that blocked.

For those photos, there's absolutely no way of exporting them using the batch export (long press on the photo, to get the contextual bar on the bottom), even if they're the only one selected.

I can however export them without any issue when I have it in "edit" mode/full screen.

Issue is.. I cannot find anything that would differentiate them from the rest:

- all seem synchronized on the cloud already

- they have pretty much the same masks; I actually used one of them to copy/paste settings on the others

- same camera

I posted about this issue in November, and it STILL gets stuck. It's hard to convey how annoying this is - something simple like exporting is now so difficult because you're never sure if / when it'll finish. It forces one to export individually. Imagine doing that as a wedding photographer or someone on a time crunch, thousands of shots you need to MANUALLY export one-by-one.

Needless to say it's UNACCEPTABLE Adobe! Come on! We actually pay you monthly for this service and it's bordeline farcical this type of issue persists!!!
