Why pn earth would Adobe drop this hugely successful and uniqe set of plug-ins/filters! I know a lot of people are very unhappy about this. I really hope Adobe changes its mind and comes out with an upgrade/patch to fix this problem.

FYI - Legacy downloads for the Pixel Bender plug-in that are compatible with Photoshop CS4, Photoshop CS5 (12.0) and Photoshop CS5 (12.1) have been relocated from Adobe Labs and consolidated here:

Thank you all for your interest in and enthusiasm for Pixel Bender. Pixel Bender has been offered in the past on Adobe Labs as a technology preview. As of CS6, we're no longer providing Pixel Bender as a Labs technology. Photoshop CS6 has taken the Pixel Bender filter most popular with customers, Oil Paint, and turned it into an official feature in CS6. Photoshop CS6 no longer supports Pixel Bender for 3rd party development.

I have CS4 CS6 CC and CC2014 all on my computer. there was no reason to uninstall CS5. It you have the install DNG or disk image just reinstall CS5. If you don't have that disk image you just threw away $1000.
BTW Adobe didn't make you remove CS5 so being angry at Adobe is stupid.

I bought this,
http://www.topazlabs.com/glow
And have the Oil Paint filter in CS6.
But its not the real PixelBender of course.

But go ahead and use these till maybe someday we will get it back?

Give them a try anyway.
Here is one that I did with Oil Paint filter, took a while playing around with the controls, but not bad. Not as easy as PB could do it, but still better than nothing.

I just recently down loaded ps cc. I wanted it for several reasons, one of which was the oil paint filter which I understand was in the pixelbender. I'm really disappointed because my version of ps does not even have the oil paint filter. We can't find it and we just did the update.
Where is it

So here it is, May 2015, and I'm still mourning PB. I was able to keep it running by hanging onto a legacy copy of PS, but then I carelessly upgraded my Mac to Yosemite and pffffffffft. I'm now giving serious, serious thought to setting up a legacy Mac with a legacy OS to run my legacy PS so that I can run PB. I've frisked the cosmos looking for software that does similar things and - nada.

To those who created PB, you did wonderful work.

I am very disappointed with Adobe by wetting our whistle using CS5 and then pulling the plug on CC.
I hope in your wisdom that you realize there are many users who liked Pixel Bender and are now frustrated with your decision. You should reconsider for your users.

Look Nothing is forever, if you really need to use pixel bender keep that version of Photoshop that supported it handy just for that use. I keep CS4 installed just to use a bergdesign filter. the solution is rather simple.

...and you think that's okay? What you've written above is clearly a solution of PS users "BENDING" to Adobe. Rather than Adobe making pixel bender front compatible to updated versions of PS. Shame on you Adobe, you don't even join in these posts and offer help. Some of these comments go back four years already and no sign of Adobe. Shame on you.

...and you think that's okay? This solution above, to run both versions of PS is clearly a solution of PS users 'BENDING' to Adobe.

With all the pleading, some going back to 4 years ago, Adobe has never stepped in to make this right by making PIXEL BENDER filter front-compatible.

Upgrading to newer versions of Photoshop should NOT HAVE A CONSEQUENCE, such as losing ones favorite filter!

Shame on you Adobe, you don't even join this forum or offer help.

I see the the 3 replies to me have been removed. For everyone who claims they need to use pixel bender but are upset they can't use it in the newer software. It all depends how bad you want use the software. A car analogy would be someone who is upset they can't put gas in their new electric car.

If you need the plugin put the older version back on your computer, why make everything so hard. use the new photoshop for its new features. If you don't want the new version don't rent it.

It is more like if you upgrade to a shiny new electric car and you discover it doesn't have automatic locks or cup holders or an adjustable steering wheel like your last car did. It is annoying when you upgrade and lose functionality. It is annoying to have to keep old things around to compensate for missing features from the new thing. Pixelbender had the potential to be a huge new area of Ps power and flexibility with the ability for people to easily create new filters that took advantage of hardware acceleration. It would have been awesome if Adobe had developed it and integrated it further in Photoshop and other software, rather than abandoning it.

What on Earth were adobe thinking when, it's OK for CS4 - CS5 to have a plug-in
for pixel-blender. But not for CS6, THIS is OUTRAGIOUS and simply stupid!!! not
to mention how it makes me feel and other Photographers feel too! WE as Photographers would like to be told why they haven't added Pixel Bender to CS6 and CS6 extended. You know Photographers need plug-ins. our work is very extensive. So please WILL you Work on making a plug in for CS6. Please STOP
THINKING FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS, " what we want and what we don't want ".
Photographers need everything they can lay there hands on because of our field of work. SO PLEASE WORK ON A PLUG-IN FOR CS6

That has already been explained, multiple times in this topic.

Also, CS6 is 3 major releases behind the current version of Photoshop - it will not be getting any new features.

Hi, is there a way that they could take the basic layout of CS 5,
and build a new pixel blender for CS 6. Or can they take the basic layout from
CS 5-pixel blender??

Im not into coding, but couldn't somebody smart, look at the code for PixelBender and copy it and produce it as a plug-in?
Might have to get permission from the original author?
I know there is somebody out there who could do this.
Go for it!
I would gladly pay for it, like we do for other cool plug-ins.

LOL. PixelBender was a language and GPU runtime library written by a dozen people at Adobe. That's why we could no longer support it after that team went away.

Guess those people who went away are no longer interested, or alive.
