You should be able to use the menu: File > Save As Choose Photoshop Document (PSD) to preserve layers and masking. You can then Export a jpeg or other format using the PSD as your master file.     Alternatively click on the Advanced tab and you will get a prompt to discard or save your work.  Clicking save will open the project and it’s possible to view all the layers. If you have no further editing need in the advanced mode you could choose: Layer >> Flatten Image That will create a single background layer incorporating all of your editing. Then save as usual. PSE does require import into the Organizer. That tells the app which photos/folders to manage. You can use a pictures folder, an external drive or NAS.   You can either select & export from your phone photos app which will include any editing done in Apple Photos. Alternatively you can export as unmodified originals and then import those copies into Organizer and in order to use the PSE Editor tools.   Before importing into Organizer you may wish to switch off cloud sync in PSE preferences otherwise you will have the same images in the Adobe cloud and Apple cloud.   PS it’s not recommended using your email address as your screen name. ... I also use Lightroom classic successfully - see image below. It imports iPhone HEIC files like raw files, without problem. However it requires a subscription. For Apple users PSE is limited to editing jpegs or similar files. Just like raw files the originals are preserved until the need to save edits. This is logical as Apple Photos saves edit adjustments in a sidecar file and exporting unmodified originals will ignore any edits already performed in Apple Photos.  But PSE offers layers, layer adjustments and masking etc. Do keep trying PSE 2024 for the full 30 days. Hi Tony,    I believe this is an Apple phone problem related to iOS 13 and later versions and the interaction on Mac OS with third party applications such as Photoshop Elements.   I usually connect a Samsung external SSD to my Mac and then select batches of images in the Apple Photos App. From the menu I choose File > Export > Unmodified Originals  They get saved to the SSD.   I then import into Organizer from the SSD to my Mac and in Elements Organizer choose to import from Files & Folders. The HEIC files then appear in Organizer and after backing up in Time Machine I can delete from the phone items not required.   Ironically I can connect my iPhone to my old W10 machine and browse the dated device folders. This is not possible on my Mac. I still receive a Windows downloader error message showing all the files as unsupported, but magically the HEIC files appear in Organizer, presumably because I have the Microsoft HEIC and HEVC codecs installed.   ... Many neural filters do processing in the cloud for Creative Cloud subscribers. PSE will use local hardware and GPU where recognised. Adobe engineers will have needed to adapt the code for PSE. ... I think PSE is using the color transfer technology from PSCC. In fact the layers panel refers to color transfer – see image. The only difference is that PSCC offers more slider adjustments and LAB color as well as RGB color.   The neural filters are still a beta feature in PSCC so maybe we shall see more enhancements which may eventually flow into future releases of PSE as A.I technology moves forward. ... You should be able to combine people tags and image tags (or any other categories) when using the search field.   See example below. If I type Jane the dropdown list is populated with suggestions for two types of data and I can select them separately from the list by typing Jane and Jane agian.     Search uses Boolean operators e.g. and, or , none (exclude)   In my example the default is Jane + Jane but if I click on the (+) icon in the search box I can switch the Boolean operator to or (/) which will produce more search results using either tag.   ... Hi TimeDancing. Photoshop Elements does not have the pen tool or paths panel. The only exception I know of is the ability to draw with the pen tool in order to add text along a path - see my tutorial on the new Add Text guided edit. There is an extensive selection of shapes built in which can be accessed by clicking the Graphics button at the bottom of the PSE editor application.   I understand not everyone likes subscription software so I feel it’s good that PSE is available to purchase outright. Greg that little symbol appears when trying to drag from the layers pallet. I call it the forbidden symbol. Jeff's  method does work with a little know-how. With the move tool selected click the desired item to move in the main edit window (you can check the correct layer is active in the layers panel) and then drag up to the other image tab (target). That tab becomes highlighted as active and it opens in the main editor widow. Now keeping the mouse button depressed drag down into the target image and your cursor should change to a plus symbol.
