I think from what you are saying you are also on a Mac - The default key command in Captivate to stop recording is Command + Enter. Unfortunately Command + Enter is a general key board command in the Mac that can be used for various command functions. I suggest to my students on Mac that they go into the Captivate Preferences and under the Recording > Key (Global) Setting that they change the default (Command + Enter) to a different key set ie. say Option + E that they would not use in the recording process, which would then end the recording. To change the default click in the field beside "To Stop Recording" and press Option + E and that will change your key command. The length of the video has nothing to do with whether it is multi-slide synchronized or event video. It really comes down to a confusion in the use of terminology. A video that plays "in the slide" and is controlled by the slide timeline is the multi-slide synchronized video. A video that "plays on top" of the slide and is controlled by its own time line is the event video.  If you use the multi-slide synchronized video it  means that you can use standard buttons on the slide to pause and play the video since the button interacts with the slide timeline. And because the video is playing consistent to the timing in the slide timeline you can use the cpCmdGoToFrame to move the play head along the slide timeline to take you a location in the video.  ... I think it is worthwhile to try to use the cpCmdGoToFrame variable in Captivate. Remember that Captivate defaults to 30 fps. Therefore one default slide duration in Captivate of three seconds = 90 frames.  If the video is multislide synchronized then you can determine the frame position in the video based on the frame count in the slide. You will have to add all frames from the beginning of the project to determine which frame to assign the button since Captivate calculates the frame count from the beginning of the project. You then create a button to assign a value to the cpCmdGoToFrame variable for the frame number where you want to return to the video (I believe you said at 16 seconds so 30 x 16 seconds in the video slide + all frames from the beginning of the project for slides 1 - 3). The user may have to click the play button in the skin to continue the video because the video is being controlled by the time line.  This would be similar to how we use to do in Flash by putting a marker at a frame position in the flash video, except we are using the Captivate timeline to create the marker by assigning the the cpCmdGoToFrame with a value. I have used this technique to assign cpCmdGoToFrame to jump to specific slide (frame) locations in various projects.  If you use event video the video is being controlled by the video object timeline not Captivate's timeline and this technique and would not work. ... My experience is that if you use the old version of flash video and an earlier edition of Adobe Media encoder you can have a transparent background in the flash video which will work in Captivate output to flash since it supported an alpha channel. If you are outputting to HTML5, Captivate will want to convert any flash video to MP4 which does not support an Alpha Channel thus your transparent background in your video turns to a black background. ... I hope you can help me with this one as well. In version 9 the json files seem to work on our web servers as well as when we test on scorm cloud.. However, when we upload our 2017 files, we get the wonderful spinning graphic on our web server, but not on scorm cloud. Was there a change in the use of the json files between versions 9 and 2017. Do you mean out of synch with respect to timing of the mouse movement or the position of the mouse on the slide when you are watching and it doesn't appear where you clicked on the slide when you did the recording. If its the later it could be caused by the type of monitor on which you have recorded your simulation. I agree that "responsive terminology" is part of the problem for both Adobe and Articulate. I also agree with you that the point is use the tools that meet the project requirement. Having taught Captivate since version 2 and Storyline since its inception to hundreds of students, I encourage my students/clients to use the tools that meets the project requirements. Articulate Storyline and other Articulate tools (Presenter, Engage, Quizmaker) outputs the content to work in their "responsive player", i.e. content scales to fit the device and the player (skin) changes the sidebar menu into a hamburger menu when presented on a tablet and phone.  "Rise" part of Articulate 360 is a "Responsive"  development tool. The attached pdf of the screen shot comparison between 2017 and 2018 shows what the issue is. It occurs when the rectangle which is converted to a form object is anchored to the text. (See text thread anchor line in InDesign docs.) In 2017 the form object is created on export to tagged  - interactive pdf as it is in earlier versions of InDesign. In 2018 the form object is not created on export to tagged – interactive pdf in InDesign. From an Accessibility point of view this issue unresolved creates a lot of additional work in Acrobat in the tags panel to manually tag the form objects – something I am trying to teach my client’s they should not have to do if they set up their document correctly in InDesign. T his would be a heck of a lot of work. I could tell them to use 2017, but then they wouldn’t get the Accessibility enhancements in 2018 that you have documented so nicely in your summary of new features in 2018 for other work the designers do in their companies. ... Just a thought. What path did you set for the open/url in Captivate. It should be simply the file name in the path field in Captivate if it is the same folder as the swf file. I agree that printing from Captivate can be problematic especially on the portrait - landscape issue. My suggestion and one I offer to my students is that you link to resource documents or certificates that are pdf documents. Printing from pdf can pretty well ensure document fidelity and integrity of fonts and colours and well as print orientation. This can be done directly in Captivate by creating a button, link or hotspot to take you to the resource. Of course the learner has to have a free Adobe Reader or Acrobat Software or similar to view and print the content of the pdf files and choose the proper orientation. Certificates differ from page resources since they actually have fillable pdf form fields that the learner can type the information into prior to printing. This works similar to having the field objects on the html page, but what I like is the printing the page is pretty well guaranteed when it comes from pdf. You can put these pdf documents in the LMS.
