Hi, I was under the impression that the face flatting was on a different Layer than the case background, but I see only two layers. If the face flatting is on its own layer, then you could lasso that way. it could work if he was filling with lighter tones than the background using the "darker" blending mode.

Hi, you are trying to apply the gradient on the layer mask. Use a white to black gradient on a layer mask. Black will be transparent, white opaque. It select the layer and not its layer mask to get the other options.

Hello I'm puzzled by the weight mention. You'd want to compress several adjustments into one? Is your network very slow, or your storage space limited? Both as so cheap now, but maybe am I in a privileged situation? Hi, here are the help files on the topic. https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/crop-straighten-photos.html basically, you select the tool, set up the desired size in the option bar(change ratio to h x w x résolution, use 8"x10" at 200 or 300 ppi, then drag the marquee to the area you want to crop, commit.
