That works, but I can't replicate it. I can open your file and edit the pathfinder effect and it works. I can change the operation from Crop to Add then change it back and it works. But if I do the same to my file is doesn't work. What am I missing? First is your file, then mine. Same effect, same order of effects (Offset path before Crop).

I have a map of the word that I want a coastline effect on. I used a new fill with offset path. This works, except I want some of the enclosed areas it created to be filled (Gulf of Mexico, Hudson Bay, Sea of Japan, etc.). The two images should explain it. In the first image the red outline shows where I want the water fill applied. In the second image you see what I am after. Is there a way to do this as an effect without expanding the appearance? I tried applying Pathfinder > Add, but that had no effect.

You can run scripts from within InDesign to affect InDesign and the document(s) you have open in InDesign. Scripts are not attached to documents and can only be run using InDesign.

I want to apply a GREP Style to the open and closing parentheses in a document when (and only when) the contents of the parentheses are all capital letters. The font is Minion Pro, which has an alternate glyph for the parenthesis. I have the GREP working, but I need to define a character style to apply the correct alternate glyph. I just don't know how to make that a style. I could use baseline shift, but that's sloppy.

Nothing is corrupted. Nothing is wrong. The images flagged are defined using RGB colours, instead of CMYK. This is not a problem and it is improper for InDesign to flag them, but it does. Ignore.

Try making a custom character style that baseline shifts the cap up and applies horizontal and vertical scaling to keep the top of the letter where you want it.

You used the wrong search and replace terms. And again, I suggest you use a character style or paragraph style applied to a bullet, not an anchored object.

Format one object as you want it and make that an Object Style. Do this with the object anchored in the text so that Anchored Object Options can be included in the style definition. Copy or Cut this object so it is on the clipboard. Select the range of the table you want to affect. In this case the Criticality column. Open Find/Change and search for ^a (Anchored Object Marker). Replace with ^c (Clipboard Contents , Formatted). Change all. All anchored objects in the selection will be replaced with the object on the clipboard. Another way to go is to use a character style applied to a bullet. I would go this way, if possible.

Once again, show us what you mean. Add a screen grab in your reply. Make sure Show Hidden Characters is on and that we can see the indents in the Paragraph panel. It sounds like you want a first line indent but are adding a left indent. The left indent will add a left marking to every line in the paragraph.

I have a Create Cloud subscription but I cannot activate fonts with Typekit. The Activate Fonts button is not available. Instead I see an option to "Subscribe to Creative Cloud to activate 48 more fonts.” Again, I am subscribed and signed in. The font are using in an InDesign file I was supplied with. Opening it in InDesign CC 2019 presents this dialogue… There is no way to tell InDesign to activate the fonts. How do I activate Typekit fonts?

I always teach people (though I do not always do) to save immediately upon creating a file. Do that before adding a guide, defining a style, or adding any content to a page. Then you’ll always have some saved work, even if you never save again. If you have incremental backups, like Time Machine, then you”re even protected from closing a file without saving.

What font are you using, and can you post a screen shot? My guess is this is a ligature. You can turn ligatures off in the Opentype submenu in the Character panel.

The Creative Cloud app says I am using 93.83GB. The Finder says I have 6.8 MB in the Creative Cloud folder. There are no files at Adobe Creative Cloud that are not in the Finder. So what accounts for the over 90GB of space Adobe says I am using?

This is not something GREP will help you with. GREP Styles can only apply a character style to text within a paragraph that matches a pattern. You want to format all of the text within a paragraph. You can either use two different text frames and link them or use paragraph shading

There was no stroke applied, nor any other effects. I ended up resizing manually. Use Preview Bounds was off. Seems to be working fine now. I'm just going to file this under general Illustrator crappiness.

When I select Object > Artboard > Fit to selected art the artboard does not fit to the selected art. I can manually resize the artboard, so this is not a limit of precision. Is there a fix for this? Is this a known bug of the thousands of known bugs in Illustrator)? Is there a script that will to this better?

That only works if the glyph is in the font you are using. It doesn’t create new glyph, so you can’t combine any diacritic with any character. Also, I believe the MacOS is limited in what it supports. So even for a cont that has that character you can’t type it that way. Use the Glyphs panel or Show Emoji & Symbols in the keyboard menu at the top right. If you still can’t create it, type both characters an use kerning to position them as needed. You might need to baseline shift the accent as well.
