I hated to post this to my customers but it looks like the Go-To-Page function is no longer supported and is not getting addressed. To my customers: Adobe Acrobat PDF for android has undergone many product changes in the last few years. If you are viewing my guidebook on a desktop PC all the active links will work. However, the “Go-To-Page” function for Adobe Acrobat android app has been discontinued and is no longer supported. If you are using an older version of Adobe Acrobat for Android, the “Go-To-Page” function may still work, but it may stop working if your version is updated to a newer version. I am not sure if the Adobe Acrobat for iOS has this same problem. I do not have an iPhone to try it.

I did some more troubleshooting trying to figure this out. I found that it is not just the tabs on the right side of the page that are not working. It’s any hyperlink that sends you to another page within the pdf document. If I am on page 3 in the pdf document and there is an active hyperlink that sends me to page 1, it does not recognize it as an active hyperlink and does nothing at all when you click on it. I have attached a small sample of a pdf so that you can try it and see what I mean. You will notice it works on the desktop version but not in the android version. I really hate to tell my customers to use another phone app other than Adobe Acrobat. However, if this can not get fixed I think I am going to have to. These issues do not happen when using the desktop version of android Adobe Acrobat. After playing around with the android Adobe Acrobat version some more I have found more issues. All the issues stem from the right-hand side tab bar that is on each page of the pdf. As I said previously mentioned, the tab bar on the right works so when a user clicks on an item in the tab it should take them to a page within the pdf. However, it does not work at all in "Continuous Page" mode. I also discovered it does not work in "Page-by-Page" mode either. No matter what tab you click on in page-by-page mode it only jumps to the next page in the document. It does not go to the page that it is supposed to go to. This seems to only be an issue with only the android app. This issue does not occur with the desktop version of Adobe Acrobat. This issue does occur when using other android pdf readers, only with Adobe Acrobat. Adobe, are you going to investigate this and fix it? I have included a screen shot from my phone app in the previous reply. You can see the tbs that I am referring to on the right. None of these tabs on the right side of the page work at all. However, at one time they use to work with the android Adobe Acrobat app. I can’t actually pinpoint when it changed and stopped working. I think it was about two version back when you put the update in the Google Play Store. I use tabs on the right of my pdf’s for the product pdf’s that I produce. I would greatly appreciate if you would look into this and get it fixed.

I have been having issues with Adobe Acrobat for android since the last update. I have a PDF that I created that has tabs on the right side of the PDF. These tabs take the user to different pages in the PDF. They used to work before the latest update. Now they no longer work. Here are some things I found when troubleshooting this issue. These tabs work if I have the PDF on my android set to "Page-by-Page" mode. If I put it in "Continuous Pages" mode the tabs will not work. They used to work in this mode but stopped working with the latest update you put out. If I load my PDF with another PDF view the tabs work as they should but not in the android acrobat app. This tells me that it has something to do with the last release you put out of the android app from this month. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this problem. I am hoping Adobe will chime in here and verify this issue. I can send them my PDF if they wanted to verify this issue.

Wow, I thought I had this resolved with your reply. It works on the laptop. I went through all my master pages and created this button. Then I put the PDF on my mobile device, and I was extremely disappointed that it does not work on the mobile device. When I click on this button on my mobile device it takes me to the next page after the page I am on. All it does is go one page forward every time I click on it. I am open to other ideas or suggestions?

This question is referring to using a mobile device on a PDF. I use InDesign to create interactive PDF’s for mobile devices. Within the document that I create, I reference other pages and have hyperlinks that will take readers to the page that I am referencing. Currently there is there is not option for going back to the previous page the reader was on. I would like to place and icon or a link on each page of my document for users to click on that will take the reader back to the previous page they were on. I looked and I do not see a way of doing this within InDesign. Is there a way to do this in InDesign?

Yeah, InDesign has some weird quirks to it. I have at times tried to open InDesign from my desktop and it will not open at all. What I have found is that it never closed correctly from my previouse seasion and is still running in he background. If I go to my Windows Task Manager, it will show that it is running but I is not showing in my task bar as running on my desktop. What I have to do is click on it in the Task Manager and then right click and End Task. After doing this it will open up in Windows. It can be a pain in the ass but that's what works.

Modification date no longer working. I have used this in the past and it seems to have just stopped working. I don’t know if it has changed since the InDesign 2021 update. When I save the document as a PDF it no longer displays the date that I modified the document. I does not show todays date. Here is how I have always done it in the past: Created a test block on a Master page. For the test block I selected Type > Text Variables > Insert Variables > Modification Date. Did they change the way it works now? Did anyone else have this problem and find a fix?

I need some help in trying to solve an issue with my InDesign document. I have a large document that I continually work on. When I create a new text frame in the document, it defaults to 2 columns. I have searched high and low to see where I can set the default to 1 column but can’t find if there is a way to do this. I don’t want have to go to the panel each time I create a new text block to change it from 2 column to 1 column. I have all my master pages in the document set to Columns 1. Yet I still get 2 columns when I add a new text block. How can I change it so that it defaults to 1 column?

It seems like this started from the last update. I can not get Android Acrobat to open any pdf's on my Samsung Note 9. I have tried rebooting my phone with no luck. I keep getting the following message: Send Crash Report? Looks like Adobe Acrobat had crashed! Can someone help me get this resolved?

I need some help. I am using InDesign CS6. I have spreadsheets that I create and import into InDesign. After I import each spreadsheet into InDesign, I have to highlight the entire spreadsheet and change the following settings; Row height, Top cell insert, and Bottom cell insert. Doing this is a pain in the butt when you are constantly doing edits in you excel spreadsheet and then updating them in InDesign each time. Then I have to do the procedures that I previously mentioned. Is there way to create a script that I can run on my spreadsheets to do all of these changes within InDesign? Or is there a way to make my spreadsheets that are imported into InDesign default to the same predefined Row height, Top cell insert, and Bottom cell insert each time they are paced inside my InDesign document.

I did something in my InDesign CS6 document tonight by mistake and I don’t know how I did it or how to undo it or cancel the option. I have always used InDesign to insert my excel spreadsheets into. When I put my page flow curser where I want my spreadsheet to be placed and left click, it places my spreadsheet into my document but it puts it in as a two columns. I have to go to the top tool bar and manually change it from two columns to one column. I have to do this on every page I carry the spreadsheet over onto. I never had to do this before. I have not change any of my document setting that I know of, unless I did something by mistake. I know it is a setting in this document that I am working in. Because if I open an older version of this same document, I don’t have this problem. That tells me that something got changed while I was working in the document tonight. I just don’t know what it was. Can someone please help me? I have attached a screenshot so you can see what I am talking about.

This just started happening on my InDesign CS6 on my desktop computer. It is on my hard drive and not on a network. I have had no changes to my desktop. I don’t know what is causing this but I need it fixed. Can someone please help me figure out why it is doing this and tell me how to fix it? When I open one of my InDesign files and make some changes to it and try to save it, I get the following error: “Cannot save the document. It may be opened by another application. Close applications and try again. You may also use saveas to save it into a new document.” I never got this error before. I tried saving it as a new file with a new name and I can do that. However when I open the new file and try to save it after I make some changes, I get the same error message again. I don’t want to keep saving the file as a new name every time I save it. Can someone please help me?

I have an Indesign document that publish into PDF. Throughout my document I have many phone numbers. Is there some type of way to fix the phone numbers so that when a user clicks on the phone number, it will give them the option to call that number? I am sure that you can manually edit each number one at a time and set it up to do this but I have a lot of phone number in the document. Is there some way to do this all at once or run a script that will fix them all throughout my document?

Yes they will stay pixels but it's a image with a lot of tiny icons in it. This is the only way that it seems not to lose a lot. I wish there was another way. I would really like to keep everything as AI files. I can't do that because these files are generated by some other software. I really appreciate you trying to help. If I trace the file as you pointed out, I lose a lot of the characteristics that are in the PNG file. There is another way that I found that I can do without tracing it. I can open the file in illustrator and selected the layer, for to Edit > Edit Colors > Convert to Grayscale and save it as a AI file. I have over 100 of these files to do. I was just hoping that there was a script or something from within Illustrator that would do it all automatically for me. Than you for point that out anyways.

If I hold the spacebar and + Print, it selects the Pen tool. I did create a new file and copied the layers over and it worked. I don't know why that worked? The only problem with copying the layers over to the new file was that I don't know of a way to copy my Guides over too. Is there a way to copy my guides over to the new file?
