Having just now looked at this thread, my opinion is that the stars with green-channel dark halos are the same ones that have a magenta-colored halo to being with, and since magenta is the opposite color to green, the uneven sharpening is because there is harder edge in the green channel so the sharpening bites into it a little harder. There might be just as much of a halo in the other channels but those channels still have a red and blue fade to them that is not an edge to sharpen. That said I'm not really seeing what you're seeing as far as halos, either, using the supplied XMP. Maybe ACR 11.2 that I'm using does things better, now.

- For first time, seems I don't have to always click Done, to make sure adjustments are safe. I'm seeing the change icons in the thumb previews on the left in real times. Is this new? Maybe just have not noticed before. It's auto saving finally? The thumbnails in ACR and Bridge show the changes as you make them. This is not new. - Faster, am I correct? ACR can use the GPU so it might be faster. - It seems to be creating duplicate, after cropping - backups in real time, is this new? Does these stay around? Not sure what "duplicate, after cropping" means. I just see an updated preview in ACR and Bridge. You might describe the process you are following in more detail and say what you see vs what you expect. - It is crashing a lot, and then says (are you sure you want to open 57 files?). Did it three times. So then from Bridge I had to redo my open in ACR again. But because everything is faster it's quick to deal with. For problems with crashing, it's usually the graphics card or driver having issues. First try updating to the latest driver for your video card. If that doesn't help, try disabling the GPU. You can do this by going into Preferences in camera raw and unchecking the Use Graphics Processor item. If you have a 3K to 5K monitor you might need the GPU to speed things up sufficiently, so try this experimentally and just turn it back on if you can live with the crashing. If these screenshot previews are too small, click on each in the message and it'll show full resolution. My monitor is only 1680x1050 so if yours is higher resolution you might have to resize or zoom in on the image in whatever browser or image-viewer you are using to see them. - I'm puzzled with straighten tool. It says double click. I do that but nothings straightens. Double-clicking the Straighten Tool (bubble level icon) does work, but only on images where it can detect a horizon and some images don't have anything it recognizes as a horizon. Here I've double-clicked the "level" tool on an image of a star destroyer and it found something to align on, just not something that makes sense, but it demonstrates the tool can do something: - Bridge is also finally fast. I posted about that, no response. Bridge has always been slow. Bridge uses ACR to do it's previews and can use the GPU so may be faster on that account. Depending on what version of PS you had previously, it might not have used the GPU.

I was able to download the entire 390MB DMG. It took several minutes, but doesn't have any errors. It is possible your DMG download was stopped prematurely and as such is corrupted but the corrupted copy is in the browser cache and continues to be a problem.. Try clearing the browser cache and see if you can get a complete download that works.

The M2050 is also from 2011 and cost US $2600 at the time. My current nVidia card that I bought last year, a Geforce GTX 1060, cost less than one-tenth as much and is 3-times more powerful according to this site: NVIDIA Tesla M2050 Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database so I think Dennis' comment still applies. I don't think anyone here has specific knowledge about your card working with Photoshop, and so it's an old card that might work ok, but isn't nearly as powerful as what you can get today. The NX-D images have more noise grain and this breaks up the color transition along a smooth gradient such as the sky in your photo. Adobe isn't going to change anything. You can set your own ACR defaults with NR at much lower settings if you want, although zero is too low if you are using ACR for normal, non-rainbow-gradient images: Besides turning down NR so you have excessive noise grain, you can also just add noise using the Effects panel in ACR: Or use Filter / Noise / Add Noise in Photoshop, itself:

An obvious thing that causes the truck to be less orange than the bucket is the WB computed by the camera. The bucket was shot in sunlight, while the truck was shot on a cloudy day, yet the As Shot WB is 5000K as if sunlight, but eyedroppering on the clouds or even using Auto WB changes to something closer to 6000K and the truck is a little more orange, although perhaps not enough, requiring the RGB channel adjustments as well.

"Are you the same person I was talking to earlier?" followed by "nothing" in response to "what" could be creepy if it means the support person wanted to continue the conversation in a more personal way if the response had been "yes" instead of "what", probably using a different messaging system because they found something attractive about the user via their conversation; however, it could also be the support person was wanting to understand if the new CC number would have the same problem as the old one if they had this conversation with the same contact, earlier, and there was less of a chance that the transaction would go through so someone might need to monitor it more closely. It could also be the support person doing some sort of fraud detection if they had just had a similar conversation and wondered if someone was trying to validate stolen credit-card numbers by trying them one-by-one. Maybe the name or address of the CC number was different than the previous card. The lack of explanation by the support person about why they'd asked the question, might be creepy, but it would also make sense they can't explain if they are doing fraud detection or if they will escalate the monitoring to a different level as that is an internal process they aren't allowed to discuss. In short, I can see how the interaction might be viewed as creepy but there might also be a reasonable explanation. In any case, all conversations are recorded and the support person would likely eventually get into trouble if they were being creepy and they'd know this so that's why I think the question was about something else.

Unless you get the color grandient bands across the same areas of the image it's not quite a fair comparison, but from what you do show, I'd say the noise-reduction of ACR results in larger areas of sameness than the noise-reduction of NX-D. Attempting to download the files shows a popup in Chinese with a QR code (to download a phone app? no thank you) and/or requires filling out a form in Chinese. If you can upload your files to use a website like dropbox or googledrive or onedrive that allows downloading without signing up or using an app, ok, but otherwise your files remain off limits to those of us who don't read Chinese or trust whatever service you are using.

If you are licensed then you don't have to uninstall the new software. The software that runs in trial mode is the same that runs in licensed mode, so you don't have to install another version if you're licensed.

You might try uninstalling LR 6, entirely, using the Windows Programs & Features or Apps function then download and install first the initial LR 6 (700+MB) from the link on the page marked as the correct answer, then install the LR 6.14 patch, again.

If Adobe only renews the 90-days-without-internet token when it expires every 90 days then there's nothing a customer can do to ensure licensing remains intact for 90 days without internet. This is something Adobe could fix by resetting the 90-day expiration every time the software starts up, or even more often when the software is in use. If Adobe renews the 90-day token every time you sign-in then you can at least sign-out and sign-in before going on a trip where the internet might be iffy. If Adobe renews the 90-day token every time you start up the software when you have internet connectivity then your being unable to use the software the day after using it, then losing connectivity must be due to something else. That something else might be the system clock being set backwards, perhaps by a momentary public Wi-Fi connection to a router that has a bad clock, somewhere during the travels, where disabling the software until the license can be checked online after the clock is set backwards, is a way to prevent unauthorized extension of the trial period or license expiration by setting the system-time back to within the trial or license period.

If PSE12 was an upgrade, you'll need to enter both the PSE12 serial number and the serial number of a prior version, which are hopefully both out on Adobe's site. Otherwise, try copy/pasting the serial number from Adobe's site into the serial-number type-in box.

The LR install doesn't remove your photos or plug-ins. It sounds like you opened/created a new catalog and may have settings stored with your catalog instead of in a common location. Start LR, then check File / Open Recent and see if any other catalogs are listed. If you somehow uninstalled the previous LR before installing 8.1 and chose to remove settings and preferences then LR may have forgotten where your catalog is as well as your plug-ins. If you have logged in as a different user on your computer and your catalog is stored in your user-library then that new user would have a different user-library so LR wouldn't see your old catalog. If you store your catalog on an external drive and the device or drive-letter to that external drive changed then LR wouldn't be able to find your old catalog automatically.

I think you’ll have to use LR to fix these images, and then the DNGs will work in ACR after that. The reason is that the host for a DNG Recover Edges plug-in needs to have access to raw data, which LR does, but PS, itself, does not, and I guess a plug-in like ACR, that does see raw data on behalf of PS, cannot use other plug-ins. I think maybe Adobe uses Original crop ratio in the cropping tool to show all the pixels in raws from newer cameras produced since they added the feature, but they can’t change things for how the 5D.3 raw files are read in so a hack like the plug-in is needed. I believe your camera adding crop information is for any video-stills that happen, which must be what LiveView shooting produces, or if you set another crop aspect ratio in your camera for regular photos like the 4:3 that most cameras allow. Regarding Adobe Support, they don’t actually use the products, they are just reading a script and searching for answers in their internal knowledge base, but I and other forums users have already seen this issue come up years ago and remembered there was a plug-in, so knew more what I was searching for. I didn’t remember that the name was Recover Edges but found a post by searching via for “5D Mark III video crop” which I knew I’d seen a solution for.

Adobe is cropping to the video aspect ratio because you have Add Cropping Info turned on in your camera, and Adobe is respecting that. There is a Lightroom DNG Recover Edges plug-in that can help with this: Canon 5D Mark III "Add Cropping Information" Importing into Lightroom CC 2015.8 Download Plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom - Adobe Labs To install the plug-in download it from the link, above, unzip it to a folder, go to File / Plug-in Manager / Add then browse to the unzipped folder that ends in .lrplugin, click Ok or Select or whatever the button is, then to use the plug-in, you need to import the photos into LR, convert the photos to DNG in LR Library (don't delete the originals), then select the photos, then go to File / Plug In Extras / Apply (next to the DNG Recover Edges plugin). It will think for a while, then the photo will be converted; however, I had to switch to Library and recompute previews before I saw the newer wider crop, so it may take a few moments to kick in, but here is what I see after doing this process with the phone reel photo: Once the photos are "expanded" then you can switch between Original (the recovered edges) and As Shot (the video-aspect ratio) if you want.

Can you show us a couple screenshots of what you mean by your photos are being cropped? Can you provide a sample raw file of one that is auto-cropped and one that is not? Upload to somewhere like dropbox, googledrive, onedrive, and reply with a public-share-link, here. Without much to go on besides your words, I can think of four possibilities: 1) You shot some photos while recording video and the photos are cropped to the video aspect ratio. 2) Lens corrections are enabled or are automatically happening in camera and by doing those lens corrections some of the very outside edges is cropped off. 3) You saved your "current settings" for a particular photo as your new ACR defaults and those included a crop. 4) You saved your "current settings" for a particular photo as your new ACR defaults and those settings included Auto Straighten or one of the other automatic modes to correct perspective. Besides Clear Crop, have you tried setting Normal as the crop ratio, unsetting Constrain to Image, and clicking Set Original Crop?

What you see in camera is a camera-embedded JPG preview which is ok, because it is a small portion of the overall image file due to JPG compression. Random colored boxes like you show means the raw data is corrupted, and raw data is what LR and PS use to create a new image. Raw data is much more of the image file than the preview JPG so is more likely to become corrupted. First test by recopying the images, again, and see if they are ok. If so then the cable is likely bad. If the images are gone from the memory card so you cannot copy them or recopying them yields the same result, then use a new memory card, because the old one is likely bad.

Turn off Lossy Compression and see what happens. Turn off Delete Originals and see what happens in case the deletion is stepping on the preview creation. Presumably the original CR2s have ok previews, but the in-place conversion is what causes problems? If you make adjustments and recompute the previews does the pink go away? In other words is it tied to the particular image or tied to the moment in time when the preview was computed? If you Update DNG Previews and Metadata what happens? Have you purged the preview cache in case there is something corrupted?

You may be able to use the Belarc Advisor to find the serial number: Products: Belarc Advisor Have you tried registering the software, now, and see if that makes the serial number show up? Registering the software ties your AdobeID to the serial number so that you can look it up on your Adobe account, but you may not need to know the serial number to register it, it may be transmitted automatically. The main issue would be what you mean by PSE10 came pre-installed on the computer 5 years ago with the problem being if this computer belonged to someone else, an individual, and you purchased the computer from them, but the PSE 10 license belongs to them. If so then they would have to transfer the license to you using an online form at Adobe. Or if the software was something bundled with a new computer, it may have documentation telling you the serial number and how to register it or it may be some special version of PSE that was sold to the computer manufacturer for a cheaper price and as such cannot be used as the source of an upgrade. Basically, the software needs to be not registered to anyone else and be a version that isn't some promotional version that cannot be upgraded or installed again, and you can discover the serial number, then you may be able to install it, again, using that serial number. It doesn't matter what was done to create the JPG. The point is that the same JPG is being used as input to LR/ACR-plug-in vs ACR-filter with the same settings applied and it looks different between the two.
