@kglad indeed - when Animate crashes I always select to relaunch and reopen files to ensure they have a good chance of not bing corrupted.

With a brush tool selected, when you use the brush size slider in Properties panel, you will see the cursor change size as you move the slider. Yes, it will disappear once the slider is released but it's at least something.

Often this issue is chalked up to the nature of complex vectors. But I want to know, at what magnification are you drawing at. I find if you are zoomed in to the stage, drawings can fill in or get drawn in unexpected ways. Try drawing at 100% stage magnification.

How was your issue resolved? As for avoiding corruption, best practice is to do a Save as... with an incremental numerically named file... "MyFile_01.fla" "MyFile_02.fla" "MyFile_03.fla" Etc I save new versions every couple of hours. Also, if something happens such as an application crash, Animate will save a "RECOVERY" file - almost to a fault. Often without crashing I find my working folder is filled with RECOVERY files making file management a nightmare.

True, there is no visual real-time feedback that displays what size brush you currently have, unfortunately. I agree this would help eliminate the trial and error of selecting brush sizes and then having to draw something to see if it's what you want. But until enough users submit this as a wish list item for the engineers to incorporate it, you can save the brush size as a preset using the Properties Panel. https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

As Nick said, there's no "best" way but I prefer to nest all layers in a symbol and then tint to a solid color background when possible - which will work in your case. The problem you'll experience using alpha is during the tween, you'll see the assets on different layers overlap each other. A color tint effect will not reveal the layering inside the symbol or across layers.

If it's inside a Movie Clip it will because MC's timelines play independently of all other timelines. If it's a Graphic symbol, it won't play if it doesn't play inside the Animate authoring environment. Graphic symbols are synced with their parent timelines and other nested timelines. Just click once on your symbol instance that contains the animation and tell us what it shows you in the Properties Panel.

Sounds like you converted your shape to a symbol. Then you double-clicked it and added a "nested" animation inside the symbol. Back on the main timeline the nested animation won't play because; The symbol is a Graphic symbol with many frames but the main/parent timeline only has 1 frame. The symbol is a Movie Clip symbol which means it won't play nested timelines unless it has been published.

The engineering team does indeed visit studios and talk to real-world users. While having the ability to apply eases across both shape and symbol tweens simultaneously would be wonderful, I'm tempted to say it was removed for a valid reason such as it being potentially buggy. Don't quote me on that but it's definitely worth logging as a wishful item.

Not really adding much here beyond kglad but to +1 that the "show frame" has the same issue (cut-off along bottom a few pixels) here on OS X (looks like you're on Windows). So it seems to be a cross-platform issue. I'll report the issue also.

Here's a current FLA document I have open. The far left panel with all those colors were shared with me by someone I work with. He's in Chicago and I'm in Boston. Sharing between files or sharing between remote co-workers, is pretty fun.

In Animate you can also open the CC Libraries panel where you can share colors with anybody you wish via the Adobe Creative Cloud. Take a deep breath and remember, that nobody is out to get you based on pure hatred or loathing. There are actually good people in the world who want you to have the ability to share your colors. They are bright and beautiful I'm sure 😉

Are you sure they are "gone"? Never heard of this. Do you have admin rights to your account? Have you used Finder and searched for the file names? Animate has a "recent files" - what happens when you go there? Does it list them and if so can you click to open them?

Beyond the several adjustment setting in the Properties Panel, the only other recommendation I have for you is to draw at as large a scale as possible. Often if you are drawing in a small area with lots of vectors, things can get hard for Animate to calculate and sometimes it shows itself as areas filling in with color where you don't intend for it to fill in. Try playing with Curve Smoothing and see if that helps.

I have experienced a similar issue with the Asset Warp Tool and found out it's because my document was simply too complicated to export. I was using a layer filter effect the Asset Warp object was on and it applied the filter to each keyframe which proved too CPU intensive even on my M1! The solution was to nest the animation and apply the filter to the parent symbol.

Typically it's the other way around. Best practice is to export AE and AnCC projects to video files and then use Premiere Pro to edit them together. You can import a FLA into AE as well. But if you must, you can export from AE as an MP4 and import into Animate to use as a reference track for rotoscoping or animating over. But you can't export that video track from Animate - so use PP to combine them again.

Vectors can, especially complex drawings, can get "confused" and unexpected things can happen, like artwork filling in unexpectedly as well as art simply disappearing. I have found that drawing at 100% or even larger prevents that. Scaling down artwork to as sdmall as 3% or smaller can also have unexpected results.
