TLDR: I need to view and create annotations without blocking Dropbox or other third-party software from changing the PDF.Under Windows, when Adobe Reader DC opens a file, it reserves exclusive write-access. This is problematic in several ways:LaTeX documents cannot be recompiled while viewed in Adobe Reader DCIt makes Adobe Reaser DC unsuitable for viewing work-in-progress plots saved as PDFs for use in pdfLaTeX.Dropbox will be unable to synchronize changes made on mobile while the document is opened (e.g. annotations created on an iPad). Is it possible to prevent Adobe Reader DC from locking files and, ideally, to make it reload the file automatically if it was changed on disc? The latter would be required to avoid accidentially overwriting a file synced from another device with a previous state. It most recently observed the problem with Adobe Reader DC 17.009.20044, but has existed already when I first used LaTeX almost 10 years ago. The most common workaround is using SumatraPDF for
When attempting to open a .pdf using Adobe Reader, I get the following error on one PC only (at this stage). I've attempted to uninstall and re-install Adobe Reader but the same issue occurs once re-installed. I've followed all steps from the https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/fix-acrobat-crash-on-launch.html none of which helped. Is there something in the register that I can delete after uninstalling the program, so that we I re-install again, it's a clean install?Any assistance here would be great. Thanks
What is a problem ? On others computers the same document looks ok.I have Adobe Acrobat Reader ver. 2023.006.20320 / 64-bit.
I have no idea how this happened, but it's the most frustrating thing when I use adobe reader primarily to read research papers that require selecting and highlighting text...my select tool has turned into a crosshair cursor and it won't change back to text selector when I hover over text. When I attempted to select with the crosshair it creates a blue box, which is no use to me. I have no idea how to change it back. I've even uninstalled the adobe reader software and reinstalled it. Is this a glitch with an update?...PLEASE HELP.

Good afternoon, I have a client who is trying to open certain PDF files on his PC. When he tries to open these pdf files, the app is unresponsive and forces them to close the app completly. They already uninstalled their version of acrobat and installed Creative Cloud. Any help would be appreciated!
Hi, After some update of Adobe Reader i can't find anymore option to change arrow head color fill in comment tools. It used to be in line properties next to outline color/type options on the right sight of properties window. Now i see only option to change color fill of arrow and text field, that is common for them, in tool that have arrow and text box. Right now it is filled with blue color at one PC, at other one is red and at third one is transparent... I have no clue where to find that option...
i had the new version of adobe acrobat reader and then it automatically went back to the older one. I wrote some comments on the older version and then it automatically returned to the new. I lost all the comments that I wrote on the old one! is there a way to retrieve them?

Hi All, The issue started last week. We are unable to Quickprint an adobe PDF in Outlook, I have tested a couple things. 1. Outlook will quickprint a Word, Excel, or other document. 2. Quickprinting a PDF attachement will not print UNLESS adobe reader is open. 3. I have uninstalled and reinstalled adobe.4. Confirmed we have selected a default printer5. Swapped the default printer and moved it back. 6. Removed and re-added the printer (by IP address)7. Confirmed that all drivers, Windows udpates, and Office updates are installed. Adobe version 2023.006.20320MS Office Apps for business Version 2309 Build 16.0.16827.20130 Thanks for your assistance. Aaron
This is the PDF document from one of our customers. Open the attached PDF, note holes in 't', 'x', 'e' etc letters at certain zoom levels, 150% for example. If you zoom to 300% and above, the holes vanish. This only happens in Adobe Reader, all other PDF viewers display the document correctly. This PDF contains 'Andika' and 'Mulish' fonts with some glyphs defined with overlapping of outlines. For example the 't' letter defined like this: It has two sub-paths with clockwise order of the points, so when non-zero winding rule is used it should be rendred as solely black. However, when even-odd rule is applied, the hole appears in the middle: and that is the case, what we beleive - the winding rule changes when zoom level changes. Note that this only happens to fonts, written using 'CIDFontType0C' font format (OpenType CFF). If the same glyphs are written as TTF, no such artifacts appear.
We have found a suspected bug in adobe reader that occurs for our users when multiple pdfs have been loaded, and one has been edited (eg add some comments) and then if you attempt to close that commented pdf via the taskbar (selecting it and pressing x to close) adobe reader totally freezes and you have to crash out of the application to resolve, thus losing comments on that file you closed. Ive noticed that it obviously tries to ask if you want to save as it freezes but as the application is locked I can't do anything but end the process. Has anyone else experienced this, and (ideally) have a fix? I've seen lots of posts about similiar issues that people try to fix with thumbnail changes etc, but they havent worked here.
I'm using the free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. I used to be able to open A0 sewing pattern files and use the layers icon to choose only 1 size to print. I can't find the layer icon in the newest version. I've also disabled the new version, and now can't see the layers icon in the older version. Is this now a paid feature? I'm not creating pdf's with layers, just trying to omit layers when printing.I'm on a Mac, if that matters.cheers!
I had no problems printing PDFs on my Windows 10 64-bit laptop using Acrobat Reader DC 32-bit (and I can still print the same PDFs on my Windows 10 32-bit PC using Acrobat Reader DC 32-bit). After the automatic update to Acrobat Reader DC 64-bit, I get the not-very-informative errors “The document could not be printed.” and “An error occurred while printing the document.” I am printing to a Brother DCP-330C printer connected by USB cable directly to laptop (or PC). I've tried uninstalling Acrobat Reader DC 64-bit from my laptop and re-installing Acrobat Reader DC 32-bit and now I can't print from the 32-bit version either. Please help, someone. Thank you. GraemePS I believe the 64-bit version has only been rolled out in Australia and New Zealand - thanks Adobe, for using us as Guinea pigs for a product that doesn't work 😞

I am a Mac user running on OS X El Capitán vers. 10.11.14 who just installed the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC program so that I could sign ACA (Autoridad de Certificación de la Abogacía -Spain-) documents. When I attempt to sign these documents using my ACA certificated (common access card) via my smart card reader, I get the error message: "the credential selected for signing is invalid". My ACA credentials should not be the issue, as I've used it on work computers without signature problems, so I'm thinking that the issue i'm getting on my Mac is related to my current Adobe settings. Any advice or assistance in regards to signing documents with my ACA card would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully, I can get some real assistance instead of a generic copy and paste "trouble shooting" response. Thank you
