I want a square format crop from a 1920x1080 clip. When I change the crop in Sequence to square format, the clip is slightly off center. I adjust postion to center, but inadvertently made that as a keyframe, so the clip slowly moves right toward the end of clip. How can I change position for the entire clip duration? (not as a keyrame) Edit: I deleted the first Keyframe in Position -which corrected the issue. Is there a way to alter postion without an initial keyframe? Thanks, -Mr Noobular

Yup, that's what happens, as described & shown in screenshot. And yes, I can reset the black pt. Just trying to turn it off. Maybe its just a bug as my OS is so old.

When using Camera Raw I can't disable on screen shadow Clipping Warning. Or perhaps it is enabled in another setting? I try toggling the controls at the top of the main page, but the visual clipping graphic warnings stay visible. It's helpful, but I prefer to disable after seeing which area needs adjustment. (see screen shot) I checked prefs, and don't see an option that has been left on. (I have a late 2013 MacPro - Cmaera Raw 16.5.0.1954 and PS 25.12.3. Monterey 12.7.6 is the most recent OS that will run on this unit) Thanks

Issue printing from Photoshop vs Canon Professional Print & Layout app. A friend and I both have canon Printers (and use Red River Inkjet paper). Friend claimed printing via Photoshop made images very yellow & way off from monitor, but perfect match using Canon Pro print & Layout app. I just tested/compared & found the same. PShop image way off & yellow. Canon app -perfect match to monitor. He uses Pro 300 printer, I have Pro 1000. Both on Macs. Pshop 25.12.1 (can't use V.26 on my mac) I was VERY careful to use identical settings in both apps, same Profile, Media settings etc. Checking here to see if a common issue, and if so any fixes, etc. Thanks

The improved masking tools in Camera Raw are a game changer. My typical workflow is to use the excellent improved Noise Reduction tool for the entire image. But I no longer use the main sharpening tools on the entire image, as that will result in sharpening of the background noise, etc. I go directly to the Masking tools, and apply sharpening, texture etc only to the subject(s). This helps keep the background bokeh soft & dreamy. But some tools are not available on the Masking Page. The Sharpening is more limited, and other tools like “Vibrance” can only be applied globally. I suggest integrating the Masking Features onto the main controls page, allowing all adjustments to be masked as needed. Why have limits on this powerful feature? Make masking unlimited as in Photoshop. The difference is that many of the tools in Camera Raw are more useful when applied to a RAW image than re-entering camera raw as a filter on an image that has already been processed. The masking tools are fairly comprehensive, and powerful. It would help however to add just a bit more masking control as in photoshop. (for what its worth, I am a long time PS user, commercial retoucher, nature photographer, as was a Beta Tester for PS 1.0)

I was directed to the New Features Summary page for PS 26.2. But there are no features listed, except for new Type tools. There is a an Update button, but my system is not compatible with 26.2 so I can't even see the new features summary to evaluate a possible hardware upgrade. Where is the summary?

I have been testing the Lens Blur -Bokeh feature which I access in Camera Raw Reader. Can be very helpful to enhance images that have too deep DoF, etc. (esp APS-C, and IPhone images). But I see some bad masking errors, that often introduce an unnatural pattern around the penumbra. It would be helpful to add tools to expand or constrict the blur mask. Or perhaps correct with an add/subtract brush tool. When using a telephoto lens, there should normally be a creamy soft bokeh around the subjuct (if the background has sufficient distance) When adding bokeh in post, this typically requires careful masking. It would be helpful to see enhanced mask correction tools in a future iteration. I typically use the Field Blur feature in post as it is not a permanent (destructive) alteration. But the Camera Raw option is usfeul, and would be excllent with masking improvment. Some enhancements would also benefit the main masking feature in RAW reader. Its fairly robust as is. But the add/subtract could benefit with a softer brush tip when the brush tip it smallest.

Primarily a PS user, I'm having issues with AI Custom Brushes interface (AI 28.1) Instructions I'm seeing online state that custom brushes are saved to the current Doc -NOT the permanent AI library. One video shows how to save brushes to Illustrator, but that all those assets are lost if AI crashes (!) Is this still true? They suggest saving the custom brushes to a specific file instead. This all sounds like overly complex procedures. Has this been updated/streamlined? Is there not a simple way to create a custom brush & opt to save in a permanent AI library OR the current open file?

I'm having issues when I attempt to select or change fonts, using the pulldown menu when Type tool is active, or from the pulldown within the character window. Spinning beachball appears and when I move curser from scroll bar to select fonts, the dialog window closes. Almost impossible to select fonts now. Just checking to see if this is a Known Issue or unique to some issue on my system. It could be possible that I have too many fonts open, but I haven't added many recently. 1 - I have a complex Photoshop Action that I would like to re-record, replacing one PS filter with a different filter. I tried "Record Again" but I broke the process when the original filter option popped up. I don't know how to remove that filter, and run another filter instead. 2 - When completed, I would like to Pause (or stop) the action when the Filter appears so I can evaluate the image & input the appropriate filter amount. I see that I can toggle the button for that filter in the actions menu to add a stop. Or I can Insert a Stop. Is there an advantage to either option? (I have created actions previously, but have never re-recorded, or added stops) Thanks

Thank you Mr Marsh. I ran your FS actionwhich resulted in a folder with high & Low Freq layers only. (perhaps I made an arror when palying the action?) The FS action I have creates more useful layers -as an advanced FS layer set. My question was simple how to Re-Record that action substituting Median for the Gaussian flter -with a pause to set the amount of Median Filter applied. This will result in a near perfect FS layer set. Can anyone explain this simple Re-Record procedure? Thanks

Looks like I have the Advanced FS Action that I've been looking for -except that is has Gaussiain Blur insted of Median. I believe I can Re-Record the action & substitute Median for GBlur? Currently GBlur pops up with a pause to input GBlur amount. I would like to have the same option for Median. Still a bit unsure about what command is used to summon that pause. (not my area of expertise) This seems like a simple request, and am hoping for a simple answer. Thanks.

Thanks davescm, very helpful. I would like to insert a stop in the recording process where I can enter the value for the Median filter based on the current image. The Adobe explanation for this step is a bit unclear to me. I know it's simple, I'm just not good at entering command sets. I assume the Stop (pause?) is added during the recording process? Also, some FS actions add a "Solaraize" layer, high in the stack, for visualization. Not sure exactly how to do that, whether it's an adjustment layer, or a copy of the Low/High -? One of the FS actions I have seen uses a Smart Layer for the low freq layer, which of course can't be "painted" on. But it allows the Median Filter to be adjusted later. So perhaps with that process, the Low Freq layer gets duplicated, and then raterized (during the reording process) so it can be used for painting, cloning etc? Thanks again

The better existing FS Actions need to be updated. From what I know, the best FS actions offer the option of FS for 8Bit or 16bit -and they will not have the same structure. FS can work better with Median Filter applied instead of Gauss Blur. And there shuld be a built in PAUSE to allow user to set the level of Median applied. Fully automatic FS actions won't work on every image. There are plenty of free FS actions that really are either too basic or not full featured. THe better FS actions also create preview toggle layers that allow quick before/after comparison. I'm an experienced retoucher, but not the uptimate expert on FS Actions, so there may well be features that I'm not aware of. I'd be OK payong for a quality FS action, but not a big proprietary plugin. Of course Free is always best if anyone has a link to a quality FS action with the above features. Any other FS wisdom to share with experiened retouchers?

Feature is working well. Suggest adding mask/edge control: feather/add/subtract with brush etc. as per Camera Raw Masing function. Also for masking: Shift Edge plus/minus would be helpful. For multiple subjects/objects: "Add/Subtract subject/object" with sticky lasso, etc. Quality masking is the key to Bokeh FX in Post.

I had some issues with this filter a few days ago. Those issues seem to have been resolved, and I can now give about 95% approval on this feature. I am a big fan of shallow DoF, with a pleasing Bokeh in my images. I just got excellent results, except for a few minor masking issues. I have used the Field Blur feature in PS for years. As masking is a challenge with Dof FX created in post, there is typically a soft glow around the subject as a result of blurring. This can be avoided with Field Blur by using MANY control points. But this is challenging, and imperfect. THe new lens Blur feature did an excellent job of detecting & masking the subject, except for minor masking issues. The bokeh looked convinceingly real.

I just attempted the Lens Blur Beta feature. It permently corrupted an important image. ONLY USE THIS FEATURE ON A COPY OF THE ORGINAL RAW FILE. OS 12.7.2 Mac Pro Late 2013 PS 25.3.1 EDIT: I thought my files were permanently corrupted, as the next file I opened in Camera Raw was instantly corrupted. But a restart seems to have resolved the issue. Still, on my MacPro late 2013 I can't run the latest Mac OS. So I won't use the lens Blur Feature again until its out of Beta. Seems like a great (potential) feature however.

Did you try a "Save as"? I think that's actually where the issue lies. OTOH, could be my prefs. But resetting prefs is such a poorly enabled option, I only do it when things are dire. Thanks

When Saving new Files (or Save As) the option to embed color profile defaults to the OFF setting (unchecked). I don't recall this always being the default save setting. It's easy to forget to check this important setting, when saving multiple files in a production environment. The default should be ON, with the OPTION to disable. I checked PS prefs for an option to have current profile embedded by default with "Save As", but I see no option for that. (maybe I missed it). I understand that when saving for web, other options maybe preferable, but that would seem to be the EXCEPTION not the logical option or rule. Perhaps I'm missing something?

I also have a version of the product shot on black specifically to merge with a dark AI generated background. I posted the same product on white (above) as I thought that would be a slam dunk for AI assisted background replacement. Bicycles are a complex litmus test for outlining (we call "Silo"). So I wasn't sure which asset an AI App would have greater success with. I have attached a sample dark background next to a product shot on black with fog. Could Firefly accurately merge this bike image with the landscape shot (or simlar)? I'm looking to establish a potential workflow where studio product/people images could be merged with stock photo or AI generated backgrounds. Is Firefly capable of complex background replacement at this level or do we still need to rely on human generated masks/paths for these tasks?

I have 8K images. What I posted was just for reference. Don't need an 8K image to answer the question. Much hoopla lately about generative fill. What could be an easier test than an image on white? Does it work or not? I've been using photoshop for over 30 years and know how to silo any image. My question is about generative fill, plain & simple. Can it perform the task? If so, how specifically?

I have original photography -studio shot of a high end bicycle. Image is now on pure white, but has not been outlined to a transparent background, just pure white. I have a separate image of a landscape background. Is it possible to use Gernative Fill to either replace the white background with the landscape image, or to drop the bicycle image onto the landscape file -without the white background. The bicycle has spoked wheels, cables, etc. and a very light grey frame. As a Retoucher, I would use various hands on techniques to outline (silo) the bicycle, but I want to see if Generative Fill can be used in this case, and in similar scenarios. This needs to be very accurate, with no ghosted areas.

I've been a pro retoucher for many years -using Photoshop/Bridge combo. I have preferred using Bridge/Camera Raw to organize & process files. Some associates prefer Lightroom, which I have been told shares internal engines with Bridge. I may soon receive some raw files that have been partially processed in LR -with LR Presets. Will those presets remain with the Raw files if I open them via Bridge, or will I need LR? I actually have Prefs set with Photoshop as the Host for Camera Raw -if that is a factor. (using latest versions of Photoshop/Bridge, and I have LR if needed) Thank you

Thanks. OK, now I see that "open in Photoshop" launches Camera Raw HOSTED by Photoshop, so I can return to Bridge at any time. And that is where I can re-check image ISO to determine if NR (AI) is required. As a Wildlife shooter, I often have images with extremely high ISO -which were previously unusable. The New/Improved NR processing produces exceptional images even when captured at ISO 12800. (far superior to Topaz) And I know when to limit NR to avoid excessive smearing/smoothing.

Prior to the current updates, while Camera Raw was performing the now lengthy Noise Reduction process, I was able to return to Bridge, and inspect more images. (then return to Camera Raw after NR completed). I can no longer access Bridge until Camera Raw processing is complete. I typically select images in Bridge, then process in Camera Raw using the improved NR option for most images. Is there a preferences option to make Camera Raw run in Photoshop, or allow access to Bridge while Camera Raw is rendering NR process? Also, in previous versions of Bridge, selecting a Raw file and entering Command-Open launched Camera Raw. Now that action requires the :"Open in Camera Raw" command. An extra step, and at odds with the default procedure since the first iteration of Camera Raw. It's a tiny quibble, but a time saver when processing many Raw files. (PS 25.0.0 - BR 14.0.0.102 - Mac OS 12.6.7) Thanks
