Hi, I can't find where my brushes are stored. The Brush Preset folder shows empty and I have read every article on the subject, even doing a global .abr search and no results.

Hi Nature Light, The answer below although well intended is more confusing than the question. Gloabal search What?? Why have the file disappeared in the first place. As if the directory folder for Presets is not remote enough in some far of reaches of File Explorer, when you find it, it is empty. Why does anyone have to do a global search and create new folders, or is this simply some sort of scam to frustrate users. well its quite brilliant really. must be thousands of users going thru the same wild goose chase. Its becoming too frightening to do any updates. maybe Adobe hates its users?

Well, I have about 15 dam construction illustrations and all need the same border motifs design layout, like a handrawn plaque. Anyway, I'm just doing it my usual way I've done for years , which is to use the background layer of the first one as a template which saves the guide layout with it . Just seems wierd that you can save just about every tool setting, but not the guides. why? Because most of the time I set up guides on the fly, just by dragging from the ruler. No biggy. Hi, I have an existing custom guide layout and there is no way to save the layout simply by pressing a save option in the submenus shown in the attachment. It appears you have to go to the sub-menus first before creating the guide layout in the first place, and then painstakingly enetre in the measurement numerical value of each guide. This guide in the attachment was created by dragging from the ruler edges, like you normally do. And I just want to now save it in one click, like anything else. Reagrds Wayne

Hi Trevor, I saw an explanation in the post just below. Something about Artboard being something to do with it. I think I understand, but browse read it because I'm bored with the topic now due to the time losses spent.. But I agree, Its a broader problem about why these tools arent explained in any User Guide, let alone mentioned. The time wasted having to make a public forum every fiddling time we want to see what a command does is ludicrous. Why we are on the Community discussing this in the first place. Makes every job a slow grinding task. Maybe the Adobe Moderators are lonely and want to get some interaction from their users by putting tricks in their menus? not sure.

Hi, I have a few questions about the confusing security settings for Saving As a pdf in Photoshop. For a start I tick the box for password to 'Restrict Printing'. that is Just the printing, not opening the image. ( see attachment) and then I leave the 'Printing Allowed' field as 'None'. So does this mean that there is no printing allowed even with the password? It appears not When I open it in Photoshop, it asks for the password, to remove not only any restrictions, but to just open it, which was not what I selecetd. that was in the tick box above (see attachment). | So I enter password and I can print, (of course) When I open it in Acrobat Reader, the Print command is greyed out. Which is what I expected. But there is no command in the menu where I or anyone I have sent the image to, can enter the password, to remove the Printing restrictions. So it appears to be a poiuntless field to ask me to enter a password to lock the printing when there is no way to unlock the setting to whoever I give the password to. So then, as an experiment (see attachment2) when I select 'Password required' for printing but also select 'Printing Allowed' in the Security settings, because this would mean that Printing is allowed, if the viewer had the password, right? Then opening the image in any Acrobat, it opens fine but it does not ask for a password to print. I presume because I have selected to allow printing (yes) BUT pre-empted by a password, (of course.) In summary, it appears the Security settings for printing only apply if a viewer opens it in their Photoshop. But what is the use of that if they can just open it with any old generic Acrobat, and print off, unrestriced. Can anyone make any sense out of this maze? Kind Regards Wayne

Hi, Sounds rather confusing. Users often just end up here starting from the help menu in the program itself, the creative cloud or my Adobe Account home page. The top of this page says 'Adobe Community ' so this looks like the correct forum to the link you have provided. Seems the biggest time drain is navigating the Help. shouldnt be different Creative Cloud or Adobe.com sites. Basic questions like this should be in a/the User guide in the first place. But I'll try and remember that link to get Help ....in this case, on how to get ....help? Hope this might be some help. But I can't guarantee I might come thru the same channel next time. I want the User Guide for Photoshop 24.1.0 but I came across this when typing in Photoshop User Guide. https://helpx.adobe.com/au/photoshop/archive.html This says Photoshop CS6. Is this the correct User Guide? My program says that I have version 24.1.0. So what is CS6? Is this a different Photoshop subcription and program? Kind Regards Wayne

Hi, I have a bottom Layer that I have added a vector mask to from the Layers pallette.. Later I want to add more but I can't, as a second thumbnail. I finally did something similar by creating a clipping mask instead, but I want to know why I just can't add another vector mask. Just a little expounding> I always use my original pencil sketch draft as the background. I save it as a Layer and then I lighten the opacity so as not to compete with the visibilty when I am tracing successive layers above. Then, on the bottom Draft Layer, for better visibility, I like to hide those Objects that I have traced . And the Add Vector Mask on the bottom Layers pallette is the best, to hide but not delete that part or object on the draft.

I have the same question and I am a little surprised because it is so common, that it needs more explaining but here goes, the white of my pdf is sepia. It happened a long time ago in Corel and from memory it was something to do with the academically intense Colour management utilities, that I have all but given up trying to understand. Here is a screengrab from Photoshop and next to it is a screengrab of the print preview from my Printers program. Oh well, would you believe this Adobe website has an error message saying that ta plain old .jpg in a forbidden image type. more time wasting Adobe forums. This has happened before with these silly help forums where actually using the help forum is more faulty than the problem you are seeking help for.

Hi I have 'make', 'release' & 'clear' guides turned off in the menu View> Guides > . I can create guides after showing the ruler of course but I am still interested why they are turned off in the main menu bar. Any clues anyone? Have a screenshot but this message image upload utility does not function. something about image type will not upload.

Thanks for prompt reply, That did the trick. Is there any idea why Illustrator turned on this utility, or is there somewhere in the Commands tabs like a Hide/Unhide thingy? Why I ask is that I cannot recall changing that setting before I shut down yesterday, and I am interested to know whether this is a bug with the new CC or I've just hit a wrong key before shutdown. As I research tutorials & manuals first and finally post questions as a last resort, Ive been on this 2 hours now searching keywords and forums etc. and if its my fault I have to deal with it, but if its a common bug/question, I fear how many other bugs Ive yet to enjoy, and should I not bother using due diligence and post a question every time something wont work. It appears that any extension, plug in or filter that were once part of Photoshop are now extra paid add ons which once paid for either cannot be opened in the Extension Manager or if they can do not work at all. My Extension Manager for the Pencilize filter comes up with this nonsense. But then it gets better, There is another option to download some other risky third party Extension Manager called Anastasiy’s Extension Manager. In spite of the warning windows to not open this file you need to click on the .exe file to install. But that is twice as useless as the picture shows. As if anyone would have the foggiest idea what sort of rubbish that is supposed to mean, after repeated installation attempts the Pencilize extension appears in Photoshop under Windows > Extension menu. Eureka, success? not so fast. When I go to apply the plugin to an image it opens the Filter Gallery Charcoal Filter! which I already have! Completely ripped off! Spend another hour on help and support and there is no phone no. to recover my money. Just tutorials to add further insult to the huge lost productivity time that has come to be part of the Adobe experience. and this is just the tip of the iceberg . I doubt whether Ill ever see any refund but it should serve as a warning to buyer beware for any of these Filters or Addon Stock. .

Hi, The filter effects have no decription in the Layers bar, and the word "filter effects" cannot be manually edited to show what type of Filter effect it is either. Any advice please. @

yes, I meant crop or trim marks to allow for some bleed, although Im not quite sure what other reason as you cant have crop marks off the page, but maybe theres something I am not 'registering' here. (pun intended) Its OK though, it appears there is no such auto function, which means I dont have to continue any wild goose chase thru forums or toolbars, found the closest answer. Thanks

Hi, I would like to know how to add crop marks to a file in Photoshop please for the convenience of the printers bleed cut. I realize you can add in the printer settings for my home printer but that's no use to an outsourced professional printing company. all the forums have instructions for In-Design, Illustrator, but not for Photoshop. There is also nothing in the Photoshop Reference pdf. Thankyou

Hi, I just downloaded a couple of free scripts for Photoshop and I was wondering if all the names in the subject header above mean the same thing. The reason being, I am looking for a filter that is a "Texturizer" which I found in Filter Gallery> Textures> Texturizer. Only problem is that it only has 4 textures which are Brick, Burlap, Canvas & Sandstone. I just want a Panel Wood grain texture, to make iot appear that the image is painted on a wood panel wall. All the products I have downloaded that mention the word "Texture" end up being complete "Pattern overlays" as in totally opaque which obscures the Layer underneath. Does anyone know where I can get a Wood grain texturizer to add to my Filter Gallery as I would have thought that would be one of the most basic, most sought after texture. Quite surprising. The ones I downloaded that said they were textures but were not, were> Wood! Wood! Patterns 12 Free Photoshop Overlays which are texture images but not a Texturizer Filter.

Hi, I am a traditional illustrator but have no academic background. I occasionally illustrate digitally in raster and even less in vector, like designing a logo, which still has to go to a graphic designer to present as a Branding Kit. Using Illustrator, I am looking to see where I start to create an identity kit as there seems to be too many topics when I type in a search in Tutorials etc.. I thought it was a tool in Adobe Illustrator, but I cant find any. Is it a Plug-in somewhere? A whole different program? or a Plugin for another program? The closest I came across was in "AEM Assets User guide" in ';Experience Manager' at Branding I'm not sure if I am barking up the wrong tree or not as this appears to be a whole separate App.
