Hey, I'm doing a simple 16-second motion graphics piece and I'm pressing the space bar to preview. When it gets to the end of my work area, it moves the playback head back to the beginning and continues playing. I have the loop button set to play once in the preview pane. This button doesn't seem to be doing anything at all. Is there something I'm missing? The green cache line for RAM preview is covering the entire work area so it's not that. Thanks! Scot

You will notice that checking this box will massively increase the PDF file size. So if you then in turn open the PDF file in illustrator, it will open the illustrator file saved inside the PDF. As Illustrator does not work with embedded fonts (and the .ai file format does not let you save with fonts embedded) you will get the missing fonts dialog. But: Placing a pdf in a new illustrator document as a link will allow you to print or export the embedded image with the embedded fonts intact. Of course the fonts will need to be embedded correctly in the linked PDF file for this to work... Embedding the PDF file (so, not linking, but interpreting and placing the contents) will require you to have the fonts installed on your machine, because illustrator wants you to be able te edit the text, and it needs the installed fonts for this. One solution to this could be to use the acrobat 'Convert fonts to outlines" flow on the pdf you want to embed/import/edit into illustrator before you import/embed it into Illustrator. Thanks! OK, so here's the deal – it's not the printer, it's the client who is trying to PLACE the PDF into a new document. I just downloaded a brochure PDF with live fonts that I don't have on my Mac. I just PLACED into a new Illustrator document and I got the missing font dialogue. Is there a workaround on this? A setting when I export the PDF? I think I have "Retain edit abilities in Illustrator" turned on. Thanks again for all the great responses. Scot

I've been sending PDFs to printers for years. Lately, they have started asking me for the text to be outlined and to make sure the images are embedded. Huh? I thought the whole point of PDF was it bundled everything in your project into that PDF. When I open the PDF on my computer, it looks great. Why would a printer not see what I'm seeing? Thank you for the reply. Yes, I can just create a another document with the dimensions of all the artboards I have now as one artboard, then copy and paste my art to that one artboard and save out a single page PDF. I wanted to avoid having to do that. I guess there is no way to save out multiple artboards as a single page/single image? Thanks again.

Hey! I'm creating a booth graphic that is cut into multiple panels, so I have it spanning across multiple artboards. I want me client to review the entire piece in a single page. All of my exports are putting each artboard on a separate page, be it saving a PDF copy or a PNG export. Any way to do this easily without having to create a new document that is one artboard and copying and pasting the whole thing over? I've looked via Google and found no solutions. I figured it out. It brings the Info palette to where ever you use the Measure Tool. Because my info palette is connected to all my other palettes, it brings them all over. It doesn't matter where your document is located, what monitor. Where ever it is, the Measure Tool will bring the Info palette over to where your cursor is as soon as you use it. This needs to be addressed, obviously. I submitted a feature/bug request on Adobe's web page. Thanks for the time and effort, everyone!

Hey! Thanks for the response. Yes, it's a custom Workspace called Scot. To move them back, I select Reset Scot under the Workspace menu. And the document is on the main monitor. The palettes are on the secondary. I just quit the app, reloaded it with no documents open, created a new document at 8.5 inches x 11 inches, then the first thing I did was use the Measure Tool and clicked on the document and BAM the palettes moved over. Illustrator 23.0.1 OS X 10.14.2 Mac Pro 2013 8 Core Dual 700 GPU 2 monitors – 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display, Dell UP2414Q I have my Illustrator UI palettes all on my Dell monitor, the secondary display, saved as a workspace. I have a large print job in front of me that is 1150mm x 4460mm, on the main monitor, the Thunderbolt display. 1. Select the MEASURE TOOL 2. Click on the document Bam! All of the palettes on my secondary monitor move to the main monitor, the 27" Thunderbolt Display, instantly and in the same configuration they were in on the Dell. Happens every time. Anyone else having this issue? Thanks!

The latest Photoshop is exhibiting a bug. You know those magenta lines that pop up dynamically as you move layers around in your .PSD document? Well, those little lines are causing a weird bug where it clips the layer you are moving. It literally crops off that part of the image and that cropping appears in an export as PNG or JPEG. It even does it to type. I notice it with the hanging letters like lower case g or y. The magenta snap/guide lines appear as I move the layer, and it clips. If I move that same layer that is clipped up or down so that the dynamic guide doesn't appear, the clipping disappears and all is fine. If I go into VIEW and turn off the guides and snapping, the problem goes away. Photoshop 20.0.1 OS X 10.14.1 Mac Pro 2013 32 gigs RAM Dual Radeon 700 gpu

Hey, thanks for the reply. There is an icon in the OS X menu bar at the top and there is a bright red dot when I have a notification. So no, I'm not seeking it out. It's showing up on my screen in front of me, notifying me that Adobe spammed me with a pitch for me to use Portfolio, for example.

I have the latest Acrobat - 19.008.20080 When I open Acrobat, it opens on my secondary monitor. When I drag it over to the main monitor, Acrobat crashes. If I drag anything in Acrobat over to the main monitor, where the Acrobat menu bar is, it crashes. Anyone else getting this? OS X 10.14

I'm getting this dialog too. I haven't opened the .AI file in any other app (I don't have another app that opens .AI and saves). Nothing has changed. I'm still paying Adobe about $50 a month for this. #bug

OK, sorry to waste your time. I found the answer on the forum from someone else's thread. It's the Mac OS X Preview App's fault. If I view my PDF in Acrobat, it looks fine. Apple's Preview is out-of-date with its PDF specs. Thanks

Hey everyone, I have a map I created that has a yellow texture inside a clipping mask of the world map. In the Illustrator file, the yellow is bright. When I export it as a PDF, the yellow turns into a burnt orange and rust look - totally different. The yellow texture uses multiple layers. One is set to OVERLAY, another is set to DARKEN, another is set to COLOR BURN. If I FLATTEN TRANSPARENCY, it looks fine in PDF, but that makes it bitmap, right? This is a giant print for a wall in a booth. Doing that balloons the file size, and vector is better for printing. Any options? Thanks! Scot

Hey, For whatever reason, Illustrator has started scaling the stroke of a rectangle when I change its size with the selection tool. Is that an option I accidentally turned on? I can't find it anywhere on the web. Any ideas? Thanks! Scot

I'm running the latest Adobe Illustrator on a Mac Pro with 8 cores and it's a large print image I'm creating with a drop shadow. It's taking several minutes to render the drop shadow on this system and I'm just curious if there is a setting to make it utilize all the cores, etc? Because this is reminding me of the 1990s. Hey, I have a large world map image I'm creating for a booth. It's 4228mm x 1700mm. I extruded the world map using the 3D tool and that worked great. What hasn't worked great is the drop shadow I added. Illustrator has created these horizontal lines/tears across the whole drop shadow in several places. I attached a JPEG of it to show you. I have gone to the Drop Shadow and had Illustrator re-render it at a different setting and it's still there. Anyone else experiencing this bug? Thanks! Scot

Hey! I spent a lot of time creating a custom swatch with the color palette of a corporate client in Adobe Illustrator. I'm not working in InDesign and I don't see the same User Defined swatches in the menu to select the custom swatch I created. Do the Adobe suite of apps share swatches? Hello! I have a graphic that I need to recreate. It's sound waves with a colored gradient from left to right (attached). In my mind, I was going to do this by first creating a line shape with gradient fill, black with slight transparency on the top and bottom of each line, duplicate and resize, group that, put it over a rectangle with a gradient using the colors in the image I attached, create clipping mask. Clipping mask gets rid of transparency so that doesn't work. It's just solid. I need that feathering at the ends of those lines. Do it manually using the eye dropper to pick the colors and copy/paste a few dozen times? Any tips from you masters of Illustrator are very much appreciated. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I've been using Audition for a while now but just basic use to cut up voice over audio, clean up noise, etc. I'm needing to add some reverb to a VO job and I've been using the Effects Rack but it seems that it has to render the reverb into the sound before exporting a WAV. Are there live FX in Audition? Meaning, if I apply reverb with certain settings, save the file, can I come back later and take out the reverb? Thanks!
