After Effects

I am rendering a 1 minute credit scroll with an mp4 of bloopers next to it in AE2025 v25.3.2 (build 2). See image attached. This should not take more than a couple minutes. Why is it taking 4½ hours? It was going so slowly I cancelled and used AME instead, but am getting the same render time. I am on Windows 10 with 32GB RAM, i9 11900KF processor @ 3.5GHz with a 12GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti card (it's an Alienware system). I don't recall such bizarrely slow render times in the past, especially for such a simple comp.

Update: Camera RAW version 13.0.1 has been released which takes care of this issue. Please ensure that your Camera RAW is updated to 13.0.1 to solve this issue.The latest release of Camera Raw (version 13) requires macOS 10.14 (Mojave) or later to work properly. Updating Photoshop will also update Camera Raw. If you are on macOS 10.13 and have updated Photoshop to the latest version, you might experience a crash at launch with the latest version of After Effects (v 17.5). To solve this issue, please install Camera Raw version 12.2.1 from this link.

Why are cryptomattes still so slow/unsuable in AfterEffects 2023? It's been 8 years since they're implementation. We have to use them on a daily basis for post-production work. We have to use Nuke and Fusion to extract the obj id's and then import them back into AfterEffects which is a really ineffective workflow.Unless I missed something, I can't see any update on the topic since 2018. Could members of the community please bump this to show Adobe this is priority feature to fix.Thanks

I have this composition which contains several squares. My idea was to create a mask that gradually reveals each square from a specific point. My plan was to use a simple circular mask, but I was wondering if there's an effect or an expression that can make each full square reveal instantly as soon as the mask touches it? or when the mask has covered the majority of a square. Thanks

Hello,I am experiencing a severe and persistent issue with my After Effects 2024 (v25.3.2) installation on Windows 11. The global JSON object is consistently undefined in ExtendScript, which prevents JSON.parse() from working.This is a fresh, clean installation performed just two weeks ago, and this is the first time AE has been used since.I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps:Ran a simple diagnostic script (typeof JSON, JSON.parse('{"key":"value"}')) - consistently reports JSON is undefined.Launched AE as Administrator - no change.Confirmed only Windows Defender is active; temporarily disabled it - no change.Performed a hyper-meticulous clean reinstallation of AE and Creative Cloud components (using Cleaner Tool option 16 - Clean All). The Cleaner Tool itself completed with errors ([Error 13] Access is denied, [Error 41] Directory not empty, etc. for various Adobe paths/files), suggesting locked files or deeper corruption. Even after this, JSON remains undefined.My

When I render any composition, Creative Cloud Desktop still pops a “Render Complete” notification even though I’ve disabled Render Queue notifications in Edit → Preferences → Notifications and turned off After Effects notifications in the Creative Cloud app.Open After Effects 25.3.2 on MacOS Sequoia 15.5Go to Edit → Preferences → Notifications and un-check Render Queue notifications.In Creative Cloud Desktop → Account Icon → Preferences → Notifications, disable all app notifications.Create a new comp (any settings) and add it to the Render Queue.Click Render and wait for the render to finish.No Creative Cloud Desktop notification should appear, because both relevant notification toggles are off (see screenshots) but Creative Cloud Desktop still shows a “Render Complete” toast/badge the moment the render finishes.But whyyyy?

I need the offline installer for after effects 2021 on my windows 11 pc, in order to get plugin compatibility. As it isn't available using the creative cloud desktop app, I contacted adobe support and they said it's discontinued and they don't have the link. Does anyone have the installation link?

I have a 2TB SSD for cache, currently only 400MB is being used and After Effects warns me that I'm running out of space, what's happening?I'm worried, I've already deleted the temporary files and the same notification keeps popping up.  

Hello all,  Okay,   So this is an issue with After effects 2025 and Element 3d, the Video CoPilot Plugin.     I have been expereincing multiple crashes when using the plugin in a project.  After Effects will always fail to close and will need to have the task ended via Task Manager.    Then upon reopening AE, it will prompt with the Safe Mode/Reset Prefrences options and then once the project has been reopened Element 3d will be "missing" and I would then have to close the app out again (Which closes without crashing) and reopen it to proceed working in the file normally.   The second possible crash I experience usually happens (not always) when I open up a file browser or navigate outside of the app.   The whole Operating Software will freeze up and after about 30-60 seconds all screens will go black and I recieve two error messages (included below)  forcing me to close the App and go through the same proc

I'm using an Apple Mac Studio with M1 Max and 64gb of memory. Also using After Effects 25.2.2. I have a reset my preferences and made sure project link was checked in my quicktime prores 422hq output. Despite this, I cannot "edit original".  The video defaults to quicktime player instead of After Effects. As you already know, this is something we use all the time.  Any ideas of what to do next? thanks in advance, tom   Title edited by Mod.

I'm writing an AEGP plugin, and would like to determine the current time of the playhead. Do you know if there is a function for that in the SDK? I've been looking for about 20 minutes, and can't find it. Thanks!

The solutions given in the other threads do not work.. Whenever running After Effects my Wacom Intuos M starts having stuttery movement especially when After Effects is running in the background. As soon as I close After Effects, the issue is gone. The cursor seems to get stuck than moves again as if its lost communication. It is only when After Effcets is running or running in the background. Im on a Apple M1 Max running, OS 13.7.3

I have been having this issue (which has been going on for years now) where my Wacom tablet/pen stops working when I use AE. The issue does not happen right away, sometimes it happens within minutes after I launch and use AE and sometimes it may take up to hours. What happens is the mouse/cursor does not move when I am hovering over the tablet. The only way for it to move is when the pen is putting pressure on the tablet and I drag, in which case also makes it click AND drag at the same time. This ONLY happens with After Effects and it's ONLY the Wacom that stops working, when I switch to a mouse it works fine. The only way to fix this issue is to restart the computer which is only a temporary fix. Please help! Wacom and Adobe "specialists" were not able to resolve this issue for me.

Updated AE to V16.0 and now see After Effects Error: The source compression type is not supported ( 86 :: 1 ) when opening projects with links to videos in our CC Library. Also see another error message which ends 4K UHD movie cannot be imported (from CC Library) - this '.mov' file is damaged or unsupported.Any ideas welcome

 I'm using after effects and suddenly this weird green grid, of like hundred of grids, shows up and i can't get rid of it. It's not like the one when you press Alt ' . it's this weird tech looking green grid and i thought it was because i had too many layers so i deleted some and it hasn't gone away. Can anyone help?

When I convert an Illustrator vector into a shape, the handles appear on the anchor points. (image 1)However, if I draw a line or any object using the Pen Tool and then use the Convert Vertex Tool to change the shape, the Handles do not appear on the Anchor Points. (image 2)  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the AE. How can I fix it?

I have been experiencing a weird bug with after effects 2025 for a while now on Windows 11, which causes all of it to freeze for a few seconds when alt-tabbing back to it or focusing it from any other window.This happens both with gpu acceleration disabled and enabled, latest GPU drivers (tried both studio and game ready) and even in safe mode with all plugins disabled.However 2024 doesn't have this issue so it's seemingly related to the new UI introduced in 2025. Has anyone experienced simliar and found a fix for it? I have also attached a log file of opening up AE2025 with a new project, creating an empty comp and alt tabbing out and back in, which instantly causes the error to occur (but the issue also occurs with no project open) After Effects 2025 25.3.2AMD Ryzen 9900x64 GB DDR5 6000 MT/s CL30RTX 4070 Ti

Im trying to create a mogrt (so I can change the text) to premiere with two lines of text on top of each other, appearing letter by letter (the second line is supposed to appear after the first one).  Usually I do this with range selector, but now I want to have different font etc in the other line. But if you create a mogrt like this, the other line's format settings wont stay the way I want to. So I need to separate the lines to two text layers in order for the format settings to stay the way I want them to be. Is there a way to use range selector with two text layers, or is there some other animator that could do the trick?

(See picture below) How can I adjust the view of the comp view in AE? There is so much space at the top and so little in the bottom, where the red arrows are, I want the comp to somehow be moved up higher and be even in space top and bottom so I can see clearly. Whenever I zoom, it zooms in unevely and I can only see part of the comp if I zoom over 33%. It was fine before but I don't know what I did to change it...

In the new AE2025 update, they removed the option for you to change the color of your After Effects panel. This is an important option for those of us who don't like the same old thing, and we like changes. I believe that we subscribers should flood them with messages to release this option that was so important.Let's flood them with messages, guys. Who knows, maybe in the next update they'll come back with the option to change the color of our After Effects. After all, we're paying an expensive subscription for this.

Since I switched to After Effects 2025 I can’t view my EXR HDR files properly when using Mercury GPU Acceleration (CUDA or OpenCL). As soon as GPU acceleration is on, everything caps at a max brightness of 100 and the highlights get totally clipped, whereas in Mercury Software Only (CPU) it works fine. In 2024 I could work in GPU mode no problem, but now I’m forced to stick to CPU.Also, when I’m using OCIO, AE only shows me one view transform option in the UI, so I can’t preview any specific look unless I drop in the “OCIO Look Transform” effect. It’s really important for an EXR workflow to be able to see the correct look while I work
