After Effects

Hi everyone,I have a question regarding the process of creating Essential Graphics Assets. I mainly work with After Effects that was installed in the English version and have been creating assets for Essential Graphics which are shared with my colleagues. They, however, use German Version of Adobe Apps and my question is if the different App-language version may affect how well the Essential Graphics assets function? Do the assets created in my english AE version translate well and work as intended if used on the german version of other Adobe Apps?Thanks for the help and I am looking forward to your informative replies. Cheers,Erwin

Hi! I've been trying to manipulate a particle path by dragging the red circle on the video preview to edit the position value of the particle to make a smooth motion path. However, it makes very jagged lines and doesn't get that smooth transition between two positions. Instead, it makes a hard angle and two straight lines. Does anyone know how to make these smoother? Is it something to do with Bezier? Anything helps, thanks! It's this red thing I'm moving and making the path with but it doesn't make it smooth. Anybody know why or hot to fix it?

Hey Guys, got question about Mocha tracking. I have made a composition with mocha tracking screen where everything looks fine for me. Screen 1 example.But when I put that composition into the another composition the screen is shifted, Screen 2. (red line) I Don't get why it's happening, thanks for the help!

Hi my question is pretty basic but I couldn't find anything about it so please bear with me I'm an absolute beginner. Now that I finished each seperate composition of my project I would like to merge them together to a finished video. What is the best way to do that? I thought I could just put them in the renderqueue one after another and select the same output file, but after effects is not accepting that. I also tried rendering the compositions individually and merge the videos afterwards via Keyframe Assistant => Sequence layers. But that also didn't work for me or I just did it wrong. Sorry for the basic question but I'm actually lost atm. Thanks for helping me out!

About a year ago, I shared a method for After Effects to allow you to add bold to part of a text layer using Text Animators. Trouble was, it was faking bold using rather than an actual bold font. But with After Effects 2025 and the new Per Character styling via expressions, you can now do it for real.   I break down how to use the new expression, then I add some slider controls to make it easier to adjust. And finally, I share my latest work in progress which allows to you select words instead of characters.  

Hello folks,I never seen this issue before.When I add a Light to the Composition my 3D layers render black.I tried changing the Light parameters and the only thing that makes any difference is when I switch to Ambient Light.When using Spot, Point or Parallel the 3D layers change to black.It doesn't matter if I move the Camera or Light around. I'm running AE 17.7.0 (Build 45) on Mac. I appreciate any help. Rodrigo

I have a perplexity.ai generated script that changes selected KF from linear to auto Bézier. This bypasses the cumbersome right-click and menu clicking needed to do this manually, plus it's now a KB shortcut for me, so even easier. What I need now is a script to change selected KF's from any other interpolation (auto Bézier, continuous, etc.) to linear interpolation. So far, AI can write the conversion from linear to auto Bézier, but not the reverse of that.Any help or solution would be appreciated? ...or, Dummy needs to know the KB shortcut AE already has that does this... 🙂AI script that goes from linear to auto Bézier, but AI cannot write a script to go back the other way. I am trying to more realistically control the level of grain in shadows/mids/highlights; the Add Grain effect has controls for shadow/mid/highlights, but I find it difficult to get the right falloff.  What would be the right way to do this with curves?  Alternately, it would also be good to know how to do this right with a film grain overlay clip. I have tried using a luma key matte but in this case too, it is difficult to get the smooth falloff, and it would seem better to do it with curves; I'm sure I'm not doing it right.  As a point of reference I just re-watched the late, great David Lynch's Mulholland Drive (shot and printed on film), and noticed the tremendous amount of grain in the mids, with zero grain in the shadows and zero in the fully blown out highlights such as headlights. Hi!I'd like a 3D Null to get the orientation of 3D a layer. (without parenting, it would be too easy )I've tried a lot of solutions, through orientation, rotations, both combined... some results are close, but never perfect.If I'm right, orientation is computed before rotations...I think the simplest way would be with auto-orientation, or the lookAt() expression on orientation, wich gives me correct X and Y orientations, and then get an expression on zRotation to get a "full" orientation.But what would it be? How can I get the Z orientation in layer space?Any idea will be appreciated!François

Hi,I have an issue when using Ae. I regulary have the message "After Effects: Out of memory".These last days, I used to open the Windows task manager while using Ae to check the memory usage.It is around 40-60% all the time, but sometimes there's a peak exeeding 90% and that's when AE crashes with multiple error messages. When it's happening, I'm not doing anything particular that would eat more ram, It may even happen when an Ae project is open but I'm not working actively on it. Sometimes it even make the computer crashes, my 3 monitors turn black, and eventually only one turns on again and windows don't detect the other 2 aynmore. I have to turn off and on the computer to solve that (and sometimes it doesn't even work...) I have 128Go ram, a GTX 1060 super.I tried to disable almost eveything on Ae, multi-frame rendering, gpu accleration, increase / decrease allocated ram, empty cache folder... Step 3 in the first tutorial in learning After Effects and already stuck.  On the Import media video at https://www.adobe.com/learn/after-effects/web/getting-started-after-effects?learnIn=1, the presenter has icons for New Composition and New Composition From Footage.  I don't.  The panel is just blank.  The Composition menu has 'New Composition'.... but no 'New Composition From Footage.'  File>New doesn't have it.  So how do we create a new composition from footage? This is going to be a long, painful journey. v2025Windows 11

Hi, I have an animation rendered, and to test it I rendered every second frame. The frames are numbered 0,2,4 etc. When I try to import the sequence into AE, the warning about missing frames appears, and it puts the color pattern in-between missing frames.Can someone help me, how to avoid it and just render every second frame?Thanks!

Hi, I know I cant edit motionpath when I separate the position dimension. But is there any way or trics I can use to smooth a motion path when I already had separated it in X and Y ? I dnt like this pointy area. I want to curve it, smooth it, Convert vertex tool doesnot work.... Please guide me if u can. 😥 Thank you.

in most video editing software you can select all clips on the right side of the playhead at the press of a button. how do i do this in after effects? i have quite complex composition, i cant just shift click all of the layers because it would also select the wrong ones. 

Hello ladies and gentlemen, Please advise how can I bypass this restriction? In the last couple of months I have upgraded my hardware so I used the After Effects before on an older equipment and it worked fine. Now I have this error and I am unable to even install the software which I am paying for since months already. I'm in AE 2025 on Windows 11.  I have a RAM preview of my entire timeline, solid green bar all the way across, and it plays back perfectly in realtime, yet when I try to scrub the timeline, the green bar disappears even though the preview is still there if I want to play the timeline again, just not there if I want to scrub it.  If the preview is already calulated in RAM and all the frames are there, why can't I scrub through them? Seems like it should work.  Thanks!

When using aerender.exe in the command prompt, rendering works fine with the Classic 3D renderer. However, when I switch to the CINEMA 4D Renderer, the output is incorrect, resulting in black images. Interestingly, rendering works perfectly when using After Effects' graphical interface.What could be causing this discrepancy? I am using the extrude feature within the CINEMA 4D Renderer for text, so I need to use this renderer. Have you encountered this situation before? How did you resolve it? Thank you very much!

I am mistaken and this post is irrelevant...   if a layer is locked, one should not be able to turn it on and off. It's locked. Can't accidentally turn it on or off, this is the main reason to use this switch in my opinion. This also then would be the same as other Adobe apps and continue the functionality as any experienced AE user is accustomed to. Just sayin'

I have a motion tracker in a project, creating a 'jitter' effect based on the movement of an element on the footage.  How can I determine the maximum extent (x axis and y axis) to which the motion tracker is moving?  The awkward solution I am using is to export the keyframes of that motion tracker into excel and just sort the data points. Is there a better way to do this? I want to know: Transform/Position/ Xmax - Xmin and Transform/Position/ Ymax - Ymin.

Hello everyone I need to get old version of AE I talk with support and they said that the only way is to ask someone who may have it   "We are only having the older version starting for 2022 for Widows and 2021 for mac, but I am sharing the link of Adobe community with you, you can raise the request for older version on the community forums and if any Adobe community member has it, they will provide you the installer of the older version"   So if you have please provide it    Thank you 

I need After Effects to release my audio driver when AE is minimized. Yet there is no where in the preference to check the box "Release Audio Driver when in Background". I need to watch youtube while working or have occasional Video Chats. What is strange, I explicitly set Windows 10 not to allow apps to take exclusive control of my audio driver, yet AE does not seem to respect it and overide Windows 10. If there is one thing I really cant stand is when developers do not respect MY SETTINGS. Not sure why it is not possible to set this in AE, when in any other app it is possible. Any ideas?
