After Effects

After Effects Crash whenever I save any project files, stuck on "generate recovery project" bar Hi l'm on the latest version of after effects, this has been occuring since yesterday. Whenever open a project file that was not created today & attempt to save it, it pops up with "generate recovery project" bar. Same issue happened yesterday & I've tried using an older version of after effects & it's still happening.Thanks for the help!

Hello,  I am having troubles with saber, whenever I try to use it for text there is a hard line on the edge. Not sure if I am missing something. I just bought Element 3D, followed a couple of tutorials and I cannot make it work because of the harsh lines I always get around texts. I have tried pre-composing, and creating layer masks from text and still the same. I am trying to achieve what is on the image with the Motion text. HELP!!! Thank you K

Hi allJust started After Effects, which I havent done for a few weeks. In opeing a project I get a window saying no colour space is assigned and there is an issue with Camera Raw. After setting to Rec709 the project opens. I can make changes but when I go to render, the program freezes on the project queue screen and then wont do anything until I try to shut it down and it then crashes. Not had this before and I have projects that need rendering out. Any ideas?ThanksSteve

AE's Range Selector's exceptional features has also let to a lot of confusion for some users. There are lots of tutorials but most still have gaps on how it works and why it does what it does. I have a simple video in which three images should slowly move from the right to the left, without any transition nor complicate elements (the most complicated thing is the opacity that goes to 0%). However, when I render the video, the images move in a choppy way, it's not smooth. I'm rendering with the default preferences (see image below), I have the latest version both on After Effects (16.0.1) and on my Mac (see image below). Does somebody have a solution?

I am trying to import a psd file into after effects and it is not coming at the right size. The psd file is exported from illustrator then imported into ae. In illustrator, the image is 1366 x 768, which I've saved as an ai file and exported as a psd file. When I import the ai file it comes in at the expected 1366 x 768 but when I import the psd file, it comes in at 2849 x 1065. Does anyone know why this is and what I need to do to make sure it comes in at the artboard size?

Hello, I'm a complete novice when it comes to After Effects.I want to make an edit to a sports video & was hoping that someone could help me with creating it. I want to make a football player electrified by lightning.Can I do it with a video? or would I need to take a still & just have the still electrified? Btw, I have NO CLUE how to do any of effects.I can do edits & produce videos, but this is a whole new world to me. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks in advance.ohiosportsnet@yahoo.com 

How can I get the file to display? I want to animate 3D models in AE and managed to import a .map from the game halo 2. It was all black though, after messing around the interface a bit I managed to get some VR features up which made a 3D scene and camera and stuff but it was still black. If you guys are curious how I did this I renamed the .map to .json then AE told me to rename the file to .jsx then after that I imported both those filles, played with them, and then I was like I wonder if I can just directly import the .map, and I go to file, import, file, and its there in my project panel, I drop it into a composition and nothing, it's black.  I want a version of AE that fully supports the import of these files. I was looking through the halo infinite files in their folders and I saw that there is a .json file, that's what lead me on this wild chase. It appears like AE was used to create some of halo infinite.  My point is, I need these features to do what I

Hi; new at AE. I created this simple animation of a circle following a path (Ad Comp 1 on Vimeo ). I now want to zoom into the animation, have the circle animation start but then the circle stay in the center of the screen as it continues to follow the path (Ad Comp 1_3 on Vimeo ). A little like this video that someone posted asking a similar question but it wasn't answered (I ATE EVERYONE ?! SOLO AGARIO GAMEPLAY (Agar.io) - YouTube ) I'd rather not render the composition and use the motion tracking, I figured there's an easy way to do this since it's already a shape. I created the animation by drawing the path and then creating a null layer following the path and then the circle is connected to it. Or parented I guess.  (See attachment on layers).I need to do like 10 of these, different path being followed so I was hoping something easily repeatable. I've read bout "Basic Object Tracking" but I can't find it, only find 1 point motion tracking and that only works when the composit

Hi If I create an AEGP using the c++ SDK. Is it then possible to detect if a new project have been opened or created? Hi,I have a custom workspace set up in AE. However, every time my project autosaves and sometimes when I import new assets all the panels resize, some crush up to one side, some spread wide in the middle. On some occasions, panels will even disappear.It used to be that I could reset to saved workspace and it would correct itself - though this is tedious when I have to do it after every autosave - but since the CC2018 update, this no longer works. It seems like AE isn't saving my layout but is saving this squashed and stretched layout instead and I can't overwrite it.I have also saved it under new names and that doesn't work.It's beginning to drive me mad, not to mention interfering with my workflow.Any help is gratefully received.Thanks

Hi,In the designer window (when using Particular or Form) the PRESETS that used to be on the left side aro gone - nothing there, just a black space. Wrote to Maxon for help, but they take the time, and I need those presets back. Anyone had the same problem and knows a solution?  I am on macOS sequoia, the machine is a mac studio M3 Ultra.AE is 2024 and RG is 2025.4.1.

Hi guys, I need help, thanks for you kind help! I try to use Chinese Symbol in plugin parameter, plugin name, plugin category on mac os, I use XCode to build my plugin, but I meet two problem:1. When I add effect on layer, it show up error: can not convert Unicode Characters2. The effect name is correct in plugin menu, but the category name show strange symbol.

I've been scratching my head for quite sometime now understanding how mask modes work. The end results seem so abritary to me. From what I noticed when a mask is set to "add" and there's just a single mask, inside the mask the original alpha values (0 to 1) of the layer gets multiplied by the opacity of the mask (0 to 1) and outside the mask the original alpha values of the layer gets multiplied by 0. So if I have a mask with opacity 70%, with "Add" selected, inside the mask a pixel whose original alpha from the layer was 0.9 (say), its final alpha would be 0.9*0.7.  This is consistent with what I see happening in the software. Even though I really don't understand what kind of "adding" is into play here.For "subtract" the results are even more bizarre. It behaves just like inverted mask. I just can't understand how the alpha values are influenced.When there are multiple overlapping masks, the end result is something completely different. Are there any specific rules tha

For years the community has been asking for the EXR workflow to speed up and for years this community is still frustrated in Adobe's response to this. Yes, there have been some nice tweaks to how AE interperates the files, helping us shuffle the multichannels a little easier. But the speed in which files are played on the timeline is just rediculously slow, even when working with HD frames.With more and more users leaning into 3D in their daily work, and wanting to have as much conrol over the final output of their imagery, the After Effects team needs to put a higher priority on this request. You would think that compositing exrs would move up on the list of requests since there has been such a big shift to integrate 3D into the Adobe ecosystem. If this needs to be formally asked for again, then I am asking that this push to the top of requests.Also, we all know that there are other compositors out there like DaVinci Resolve 18( which you can get for FREE) that handle exrs much faster

I recently followed a video tutorial on face rigging for characters, it uses a script called Joysticks 'n Sliders. I have downloaded this file but when trying to load it in After Effects it says tat the file type is not supported.Does anybody know where i can find a version for mac? and also how to install and make it work in After Effects?It would be most appreciated if anybody can help me!

Hello,this morning i noticed one of the biggest AE bugs I ever had and still have no solution other than recreating days of work with a deadline right around the corner 😄The Problem: I Try to open a Project that I worked on last week, but I only get the Message "Error attempting to duplicate a text object. Skipping the Text Layer ( 76 § 53 )" multiple times.In the first Case it stopped loading the rest of the project as well and opened empty.Then I tried the last Auto Safe File, where I still got the Message, but it loaded more of the Project, with Essential Grafics complaining that it can´t find some layers (of course). In this Version was not only some text missing but also some Graphic elements (pictures) and Shape Layers.I could understand that maybe my workflow of just duplicating Layers of shapes or text to have a new one is unsafe?!, but i never had a problem with that in the past with even bigger Projects.The crazy part is, that I found some older Versions of the Projec
