After Effects

Has the option to remove the Tips of the Day when loading into the latest version of After Effects (25.6.4 Build 3) been removed? It's not listed anymore in the usual spot in the Preferences > Start Up and Repair. Screenshots attached.

Lets start with something I found regarding these issues. So, I have found there are sort of 3 levels to these crashes I have been having. Level 1: the preview screen just freezes and wont work again at all, then I have to close the program and open it again. Level 2: The whole program freezes goes blank and then either closes or just stays loading with a kinf of blank page and I am not able to even close it, so I'll have to either just open another window of After Effects and continue my work from there while the other stays there (that is if the new window doesnt crash either). Level 3: The whole program crashes and even after closing it won't open back up again so I'll have to restart my computer altogether to continue with my work. What Cases the Crashes? It's hard to pinned down,Sometimes I am just adding another clip (literally just adding it onto the timeline, nothing more) and something like level 1 will happen. Other times when I add an effect (there is no especific effect

I've been using After Effects for about 5-6 years now, but I only started facing this problem very recently. Essentially, the colors on my After Effects projects become washed out post-rendering, though it looks fine in the project file. Now I know a post discussing this issue already exists, and that this is a very common problem, with typically a quick-fix, however, I have tried to re-interpret the footage, change the bit-depth and color engine settings, enabled and disabled color management, altered my render settings to match my output, and tried various Working Color Space settings, including ones that match my footage and correct the coloring while in the project file, but as soon as I render, it automatically washes out the colors, and increases the exposure dramatically. I contacted an Adobe After Effects agent via the help tab on the Creative Cloud app, who described himself as a "Adobe After Effects expert", however after taking control of my monitor, he essentially did t

when i try opening after effects it doesn't open. a window opens saying unknown exception. then another one opens and this one says something about the permissions. but i checked the permissions and it says "read & write" which should be fine. What is the problem?

I'm running AE 25.6.4, with copyright 2026, so I presume this is where my masks do not work.  Restarted, shut down restarted, gave it overnight - masks just do not work. I'll see if I can go back to the previous version of AE 2025.  Tried AE 2026 of course, but it repeatedly froze in places during render ... things that had rendered fine in AE 2025.  2026 froze rendering different comps in different projects, so I can't use that yet. I'm running a Mac Studio M4 with maxed out everything, new but haven't had any problems with anything else.

Hi, I'm having constant issues with preview playback of cached frames.I have i9 13900 Intel cpu with 128 GB RAM and fast SSD for storage and separate SSD for cache. When palying a preview with sound the playback slowdowns and shutters very often even the frames are cached. What's more frustrating when changing the sound layer eg. its volume, cache is gone and it rebuilds itself again.

The preview won't play. I've tried adjusting the audio hardware settings, but it still doesn't work. It won't play even in Safe Mode or after removing all plugins. I've also reinstalled After Effects and even reformatted Windows. Please help. For detailed symptoms, please refer to the video. After Effects 26.0Windows 11 25H2 OS Build 26200.7623

Hi everyone,I’m having an issue where After Effects won’t launch properly.Every time I open it, the Crash Repair dialog appears. No matter which option I choose: Start in Safe Mode, Reset Preferences, Manage Plugins, or Continue, After Effects still fails to launch. When I try to launch After Effects, I can see it appear in Task Manager for about 5 seconds, then it disappears without fully opening.I’ve already tried:Running After Effects as AdministratorUninstalling and reinstalling After Effects multiple timesRestarting my laptopUnfortunately, none of these solved the problem.I’m currently on Windows 11 (AMD laptop).Has anyone experienced this before or knows what else I can try?Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Below is a video showing that I selected one of the Crash Repair options, but After Effects still fails to launch.

Installation Path: Pure English characters onlyIssue Summary: Enabling the "Advanced 3D" renderer in the Chinese language version of After Effects causes the application to crash with the error "Advanced 3D plug-in generated an unexpected exception". It is hypothesized that this is a localization bug related to the non-English characters in the Chinese translation "高级 3D".Steps to Reproduce:1. Ensure After Effects language is set to Chinese.2. Create a new composition.3. Create a layer (e.g., shape layer or text layer).4. In Composition Settings or the Layer panel, switch the renderer to "Advanced 3D".5. Enable the 3D switch for the layer.6. The application crashes instantly.Expected Result: The "Advanced 3D" renderer should be enabled successfully, and 3D features should work as intended.Actual Result: After Effects crashes with the error message: "After Effects can't continue: Advanced 3D plug-in generated an unexpected exception.". This issue may also be present in other localized v

Hi All, I have an RGB, multi-layered Illustrator file which will not import into After Effects, 2025.3 on Mac. Nothing happens when I go through the import; basically, the file does not import and is not visible in After Effects. I have sequenced layers in Illustrator (each layer on its own)File is RGBI have no additional artboardsI have pressed the PDF-compatible file on export I have used this file many times before (with my students, never had a problem). Can someone help, please?

Hi everyone, I have been having this issue with after effects that has confused my professors and I. I will be editing on the app and eventually the preview panel will freeze. Not only on the frame but when I try to start the preview it will go forward a frame and stop. Even when I switch to a different composition it will only show that frame and nothing else. When I do try to edit anyways I can’t see the edits I am making but when I come back to the project they are still there. On top of this I tried starting a completely new project without restarting after effects and even though the composition is blank it still shows the frame from my previous project. I purged my cache, restarted after effects and my computer, reset preferences, and tried uninstalling and reinstalling the current version along with the one directly prior. My professors have never seen anything like this. The app doesn’t crash but literally just freezes the preview. I haven't been able to make any progress

hello all,i have been having an issue with after effects that has been genuinely confusing. i will open the app and start editing, and at some point the preview panel will freeze. not just the frame that the preview is on, but i can't zoom, pan, or see any edits i make. however, i did notice that the changes are still made. that panel just won't let me see it. i've seen this issue posted before, but i haven't noticed any with my specifications. i purge my cache, turned up hardware acceleration, restarted, reset preferences, tried in different projects, etc. it doesn't crash per se, it just freezes. there is no exact behavior that causes it, also. sometimes it happens before i even start working on it. other times it happens just a few minutes into it. i haven't been able to make any progress on my projects as it continually does this, regardless of the countless things ive done to try to fix it. if anyone has any idea what's going on, i'd appreciate the help. thank you. VERSI

When using the Clone Stamp Tool and enabling Paint on Transparency, the whole layer becomes transparent. I've seen a few threads elsewhere about this but the proposed solutions are time consuming and don't always work. Reproducing the problem:Use the Clone Stamp Tool on any footageEnable Paint on Transparency Result: The entire layer becomes transparentExpected Results: The cloned area remains opaque and the rest of the layer becomes transparent My Workaround:Duplicate the painted layerEnable Paint on Transparency on the top layerUse the top layer as a matte for the bottom layer With the Workaround: The top layer maintains the alpha of the original paint, so it cuts out the painted area like a matte normally does. This is not ideal because those steps have to be deleted and repeated everytime you want to tweak/add to the clone. This has been happening for many years and persists in the latest version of AE. Other Threads about this:Adobe, Reddit1, Reddit2

Hi, I've got a *.mogrt template which was using the following block of code:// --- Source: DOG MASTER --- var M = comp("DOG MASTER"); var srcDoc = M.layer(13).text.sourceText; // TextDocument (safe) var size = M.layer(1).effect("Size")("Slider"); // numeric // Prefer string if available; otherwise pass the TextDocument directly. var srcText = (srcDoc && srcDoc.text !== undefined) ? srcDoc.text : srcDoc; // --- Apply on THIS layer using the modern style API --- try { var st = text.sourceText.style; // Make sure it will render (some styles can have fill disabled) st.applyFill = true; // Set true font size and then apply content st.setFontSize(size).setText(srcText); } catch (err) { // Fallback for older AE / legacy engine: build a TextDocument manually var td = new TextDocument( (srcDoc && srcDoc.text !== undefined) ? srcDoc.text : (""+srcDoc) ); // carry over some sane defaults from current value var cur = value; td.

We are encountering an intermittent After Effects render error: “After Effects warning: logged one error – After Effects: Unable to allocate 37,641 MB of memory. Either decrease the memory requirements for the rendering of this frame, or install more RAM. (12803 / Unidentified caller).” What is confusing is that the same composition renders successfully when retried, without any changes to the project, settings, or assets. This suggests that the composition itself should be within memory limits, yet the failure occurs sporadically. From Adobe documentation, it appears that After Effects may require a large contiguous block of memory when rendering certain frames, and that memory fragmentation or internal memory state could cause allocation failures even when sufficient total RAM is available. The renders are running on a machine with the following characteristics: Instance type: c5.4xlarge (32 GB RAM)No other applications running besides After Effects &nbs

I tried to report the issue but was sent here, so I'll post it here.I'll also answer the survey.Would you like to add after-effects to the recognition?4 starsHere you go.

Hi all,  I work in AE quite a bit but I haven't opened it on my home workstation in a bit (I also work on a mac). I'm now having a problem in which the composition window appears empty for any project (even a new one); it shows the composition background colour but even a new solid or shape layer doesn't show up. What DOES show up is the transform handles around said objects, and the composition thumbnail at top left updates with contents now and then.   Working on Win11, with a Ryzen 7 5800X cpu and a 5070 GPU. Really need to resolve this soon!   I've been wandering the internet for solutions and have tried... - Reinstalling AE, also reinstalling after using CC Cleaner on it- Purging all memory and disk caches- Disabling GPU acceleration (this makes the comp window just go completely black)- Updating Nvidia drivers (tried the latest Game Ready and then Studio with no change)- Changing Windows graphics settings for AE to "High Performance"- Running AE as a

After Effects version 25.6.0MacOS 26.1 While using After Effects, and only After Effects, I find that every few keystrokes is ignored by the program. It happens everywhere, when renaming layers, when typing in timecode, when typing text into a text box. Goes without saying the expected behavior is that... that doesn't happen. Here's an example best I could show it with screencapturing software. You can see me start typing and I enabled keystrokes and you can see clearly that I typed several characters towards the end and it completely ignored those characters that I typed. This isn't unique to text boxes, it happens everywhere in the program. When typing in fonts, when renaming folders in the project panel, when typing in timecode, renaming layers in the timeline, you name it, this is happening all the time. Video on Dropbox

Ever since verison 25.2 we have been noticing a weird bug.We work in 32bit ACES exclusively.Every now and then we come across a composition that just clamps all the HDR values down to 1.I've managed to isolate a comp like that and the problem itself:- AE ver 25.2 or later (even Beta)- comp has minimum 3 layers- at least two layers must be in Add mode - both have to have motion blur turned on- motion blur in the comp is on The problem fixes itself in any of the following cases:- one of the layers gets hidden - so that only one additive layer remains- you disable motion blur in the comp- you disable motion blur on one of the layers, so that only 1 layer has motion blur- you switch renderer from GPU to software- you open the same project in AE 25.1 This occurs rarely, but if we find a comp like that it bugs out on all our machines- rtx 4xxxx or rtx5xxxx- win10 or win11- throughout the last year we've reainstalled gpu drivers 3-4 times already I have an example project - I c

I see this issue popping up going back years but none of the suggested fixes works. This many tears on, it's astonishing that the same issue continues to happen but here we are. Mac Studio M3 UltraAE 25.6C4D 2026.1 Error:After Effects error: Error during event PF_Cmd_SEQUENCE_SETUPCode (A_Err_GENERIC): Cinema 4D 2025 must be installed in order to use "Cineware by Maxon".
